In this paper, we propose an artificial intelligence based solution to determine the number of customers in restaurants and automatize the production level arrangements. We employ computer vision ...techniques that are applied to the fish-eye cameras in fast-food restaurants in order to predict the number of customers in the restaurants, average waiting times and eventually determining the production level in the kitchen. We developed a people activity recognition framework based on Markov Decision Process (MDP) in a dynamic restaurant environment via fish-eye camera streams. The main purpose of the paper is to understand the activity knowledge of customers according to the movement sequence. Our framework infers the intention of each person from consequent movements of the person. The consequent actions of MDP are input parameters of the value function, which is solved by dynamic programming. After analyzing results of Faster-RCNN and YOLO on fish-eye images, we compared our Faster-RCNN-MDP framework with a rule based inference algorithm, which could not achieve a logical knowledge understanding due to detection noise of the fish-eye camera. However, our approach reached up to significant performance in accurately calculating the number of customers and average waiting time of customers in fast food restaurants.

Conference Proceeding
Nowadays, the number of indoor areas which are multi-layered, complex and spread to large areas is increasing. Because of that, location-based tracking systems have become an important place in the ...indoor areas. In our country, there isn't any system and service which provides tracking for indoor locations. In this study, indoor positioning system for remote tracking (U-TAKİP) has been developed. Using sensor network which will be set in the area and K-NN algorithm on the central server remote tracking (people / objects) system has been developed. As signal resource wearable or portable Bluetooth Low Energy tags was used. Use areas of the application is defined as personnel tracking, patient tracking, child tracking, logistics tracking.
Visually impaired people encountered with many problems when they are going public indoor locations like hospitals and libraries. One of these problems, domestic dogs helps visually impaired people ...when walking but they are not taken to public buildings. Another one, visually impaired people can not know floor of the room which they want to go. ME-NAV helps visually impaired people when they are walking at indoor locations with safety and voice-guided navigation. ME-NAV calculates the position of the user with K-NN algorithm and calculates the shortest path between current position and target point with A* algorithm. The shortest path is transferred to user with voice-guided navigation system. Users follow the voice guidance provided by software and yellow path designed for the visually impaired to access the point chosen. ME-NAV also gives audible warning to call help when the user fall detected.
As a component of the biogeochemical cycle, litterfall contributes carbon and nutrients to forest ecosystems by transferring organic material to mineral soil. Litterfall therefore serves as an ...important indicator for soil fertility and ecosystem health. This study aimed to determine the impact of different levels of thinning (light, moderate, and heavy) on litterfall quantity (needles, branches, bark, cones, and miscellaneous parts) and on the amount of carbon and nutrients entering the ecosystem in black pine afforestation areas. Three levels of low thinning, namely light, moderate, and heavy thinning (15%, 25%, and 35% of breast height area, respectively), were applied as treatments. Additionally, a control plot was included in the experiment. Litterfall samples were collected four times per year (once per season) from 12 treatment plots for three years. In the laboratory, dry weight measurements and analyses of carbon and macro–micro nutrient elements (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Mn) were performed on litterfall samples taken from the field. Differences between treatments in terms of litterfall and the amount of carbon and nutrient elements entering the ecosystem were evaluated through variance analysis and the Duncan test. According to the findings, the quantity of litterfall input into the forest floor was highest in the control treatment, at 6,543 kg ha

and lowest in the heavy treatment, at 4,378 kg ha

depending on thinning treatment. Although thinning treatment reduced C input to the soil, there was no significant difference among treatments. This also applied to nutrient elements such as N, P, K, Mg, and S. Needles constituted the majority of litterfall components (60%) and had the highest C density among all components, at 51.2%. The weighted carbon ratio for litterfall was calculated at 50.8%. Considering carbon-focused planning, performing moderate thinning interventions in the study area or similar pine-afforested areas may be a suitable option for maintaining the sustainability and health of the forest.
Introduction and hypothesis
Our aim was to investigate the efficacy of the EndoFast Reliant™ system, which is a novel trocarless mesh technology for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP).
...Methods
This was a retrospective cohort study including 31 female patients with POP who underwent vaginal repair. Total follow-up duration was 24 months. All patients were evaluated with a clinical history, POP-Q measures, pelvic ultrasound, body mass index (BMI), questionnaires on symptoms, and quality of life scoring system.
Results
The mean age was 53 ± 9.7 years, and the mean BMI was 28.5 ± 3.9 kg/m
2
. The BMI of 20 patients was < 30 kg/m

. No intraoperative complications occurred. Prolapse was anatomically resolved in 87.1% of patients at 2-year follow-up. Four patients presented stage 1 non-symptomatic prolapse recurrence. De novo stress urinary incontinence developed in four (12.9%) cases and de novo urgency developed in two (6.4%) cases; all were diagnosed and treated easily with oral medication. One case of mesh exposure was found and treated conservatively. There was no migration of fasteners or mesh. Urinary retention, postoperative groin pain, and dyspareunia were not observed.
Conclusions
The EndoFast Reliant™ system was found successful with high success rates, short learning time and very low complication rates in our study. However, further prospective studies with higher patient numbers and longer follow-up durations are needed to reach definitive conclusions.
Summary
Nowadays, doped graphenes are attracting much interest in the field of Li‐ion batteries since it shows higher specific capacity than widely used graphite. However, synthesis methods of doped ...graphenes have secondary processes that requires much energy. In this study, in situ synthesis of N‐doped graphene powders by using of cyclic voltammetric method from starting a graphite rod in nitric acid solution has been discussed for the first time in the literature. The N‐including functional groups such as nitro groups, pyrrolic N, and pyridinic N have been selectively prepared as changing scanned potential ranges in cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical performance as anode material in Li‐ion batteries has also been covered within this study. N‐doped graphene powders have been characterized by electrochemical, spectroscopic, and microscopic methods. According to the X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman results, N‐doped graphene powders have approximately 16 to 18 graphene rings in their main structure. The electrochemical analysis of graphene powders synthesized at different potential ranges showed that the highest capacity was obtained 438 mAh/g after 10 cycles by using current density of 50 mA/g at N‐GP4. Furthermore, the sample having higher defect size shows better specific capacity. However, the more stable structure due to oxygen content and less defect size improves the rate capabilities, and thus, the results obtained at high current density indicated that the remaining capacity of N‐GP1 was higher than the others.
Background
Unplanned readmission in the first 30 days after discharge is an important medical problem, although the data on cancer patients is limited. So we planned to evaluate the rates and causes ...of early readmissions and the predisposing factors.
Methods
Patients hospitalized in Hacettepe University Oncology services between August 2018 and July 2019 were included. The demographic features, tumor stages, regular drugs, last laboratory parameters before discharge, and readmissions in the first 30 days after discharge were recorded. The predisposing features were evaluated with univariate and multivariate analyses.
Results
A total of 562 hospitalizations were included. The mean age of the patients was 58.5 ± 14.5 years. Almost 2/3 of the hospitalizations were due to symptom palliation and infections. Eighty-three percent of the patients had advanced disease, and over 60% had an ECOG score of 2 and above. In the first 30 days after discharge, 127 patients were readmitted (22.6%). Advanced stage disease, presence of polypharmacy (5 or more regular drugs), hospitalization setting (emergency department (ED) vs. outpatient clinic), and hypoalbuminemia (< 3 gr/dL) were associated with a statistically significant increase in the risk of readmission. Among these factors, advanced-stage disease (HR: 2.847, 95% CI: 1.375–5.895), hospitalization from ED (HR: 1.832, 95% CI: 1.208–2.777), and polypharmacy (HR: 1.782, 95% CI: 1.173–2.706) remained significant in multivariate analyses.
Conclusions
In this study, 22% of cancer patients had early readmissions. The readmission risk increased in patients with advanced disease, hospitalization from ED, and polypharmacy. The optimal post-discharge plan may reduce readmissions in all oncology patients, with priority for these patient groups.
Background
Various variants of the COVID‐19 have started to attract attention recently. The clinical course of these variants and possible predictive parameters are being investigated. This study ...aimed to examine the relationship between thiol levels, which are indicators of oxidative stress, and variant COVID‐19 types.
Methods
In this cross‐sectional study, patients with a diagnosis of classic COVID‐19 and patients with a diagnosis of variant COVID‐19 with mild and moderate symptoms followed in the clinical observatory of Ankara city hospital were included in the study group. The patients were divided into two groups according to the COVID‐19 type as a variant and classic COVID‐19, and a healthy control group was added for comparison. A complete blood count and thiol analysis were performed from the venous blood samples. Obtained results were compared between groups, and the ROC analysis was performed.
Results
Thiol levels were significantly lower in patients with a diagnosis of COVID‐19 compared with the control group. In terms of WBC, lymphocyte, neutrophil, NLR, ferritin and thiol parameters, patients with variant COVID‐19 differed significantly from patients with a classic COVID‐19 diagnosis. Thiol levels' cut‐off values to distinguish between variant COVID‐19 patients and control group from classical COVID‐19 patients were almost identical (423 and 422 µmol/L, respectively).
Conclusions
It seems possible to use thiol as a sensitive, specific and cost‐effective marker to suspect variant COVID‐19 cases. Since this study is probably the first example in this subject, it would form a basis for further studies.
A significant advancement regarding the electrification of transportation has occurred in recent years due to technological developments, environmental concerns, and geopolitical issues in the energy ...areas all over the world. In this study, a new concept for the integration of rail-based public transportation systems with electric vehicle (EV) parking lots operated by a "park and ride" strategy is propounded, including also renewable resources based energy production. In the proposed structure, the charging power demand of the EV parking lot is supplied by different charging strategies considering the existing unused energy infrastructure capacity and the regenerative braking energy of the railway system, altogether. Here, the design of a photovoltaic (PV) based carport type renewable energy production unit is also realized in the existing local parking area. The development of an optimal energy management system to effectively manage these inputs is realized and the uncertainties pertaining to EVs' demand are also taken into account. To demonstrate its efficacy, the concept is tested considering a bench of case studies and comprehensive results are obtained.
