Low mass dielectrons are important probes of the hot and dense QCD medium created in heavy-ion collisions, since the production of low mass dielectrons is sensitive to the thermodynamical properties ...of the medium and chiral symmetry restoration in the medium.
The ALICE experiment at the LHC has measured low mass dielectrons in pp collisions at s=7 TeV and p–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV to study and disentangle effects due to the cold nuclear matter. Recently, ALICE measured low mass dielectron mass spectra for different pair pT ranges in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV for the study of the properties of the hot and dense medium. In this paper, the status of the low-mass dielectron measurements in all collision systems produced at the LHC is summarized and the production of low mass dielectrons including virtual photons is discussed. Future prospects of the low-mass dielectron measurements in ALICE at the LHC Run3 and Run4 will be discussed.
A standard training system for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) remains to be established. In this study, we evaluated the validity of our training program for gastric ESD.
Four trainees ...performed gastric ESD for a total of 117 lesions in 107 patients (27 to 30 consecutive lesions per trainee) at a tertiary referral center during 2 years in the training program. Trainees, who already had the fundamental skills and knowledge needed for ESD, each assisted at 40 gastric ESD procedures, then in 20 cases applied post-ESD coagulation (PEC) to gastric mucosal defects; they then began to perform ESD, starting with gastric antral lesions. Treatment outcomes, including mean procedure time, and rates of en bloc resection, en bloc plus R0 resections, complications, and self-completion, were evaluated, for the initial 15 and subsequent 12 to 15 cases.
Overall rates of en bloc resection and en bloc plus R0 resection were as high as 100 % and 96.6 %, respectively. Regarding complications, seven cases of delayed hemorrhage (6.0 %) and three cases of perforation (2.6 %) occurred; all complications were solved endoscopically. The most frequent reason for operator change was lack of submucosal dissection skill. The self-completion rate was more than 80 % even in the early period, and did not increase for later cases.
Our training system enabled novice operators to perform gastric ESD without a decline in clinical outcomes. Key features of this training are prior intensive learning and actual ESD during the learning period under expert supervision.
A liquid scintillator containing 96Zr has been developed for ZICOS experiment. We will use 180 tons of liquid scintillator with 64 % photo coverage of 20 inch photomultiplier. In order to reach the ...sensitivity math ≥ 1027 years, we have to achieve 50 % enrichment of 96 Zr and reduce 95 % of 208Tl decay backgrounds. Using Monte Carlo simulation, we could reduce 93 % of 208Tl background with 78 % efficiency for 0νββ signal using difference of Cherenkov hit pattern. For the separation of Cherenkov and scintillation signals, we measured the timing pulse shape of Zr loaded liquid scintillator using FADC digitizer, and we found an inconsistent pulse shape at the rising time with the template of scintillation. Also the event rate with an inconsistent pulse shape seems to have a directionality.
We describe the details of a silicon–tungsten prototype electromagnetic calorimeter module and associated readout electronics. Detector performance for this prototype has been measured in test beam ...experiments at the CERN PS and SPS accelerator facilities in 2015/16. The results are compared to those in Monte Carlo Geant4 simulations. This is the first real-world demonstration of the performance of a custom ASIC designed for fast, lower-power, high-granularity applications.

A Hadron Blind Detector (HBD) is being developed for the PHENIX experiment at RHIC. It consists of a Cherenkov radiator operated with pure

directly coupled in a windowless configuration to a ...triple-GEM detector element with a CsI photocathode and pad readout. The HBD operates in the bandwidth 6–11.5
eV (110–200
nm). We studied the detector response to minimum ionizing particles and to electrons. We present measurements of the CsI quantum efficiency, which are in very good agreement with previously published results over the bandwidth 6–8.3
eV and extend them up to 10.3
eV. Discharge probability and aging studies of the GEMs and the CsI photocathode in pure

are presented.
We propose Forward Calorimeter (FOCAL) as an upgrade plan of ALICE detector at LHC. FOCAL will contribute to small-re physics in pb+Pb collisions and Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) physics in Pb+Pb ...collisions. Our conceptual desgin of FOCAL consists of SiW sandwith-type calorimeter and Si Strip layers to measure prompt γ and π° → γ + γ up to 200 GeV energy, which corresponds to < 20 (10) GeV/c transverse momentum at η 3 (4).
