Zusammenfassung
Das Kernsymptom des Ganser-Syndroms besteht im „Vorbeiantworten“ auf einfache Fragen. Die Ursache dieses seltenen Syndroms ist unklar. Aktuelle Klassifikationssysteme zählen es zu den ...dissoziativen Störungen, wobei eine psychogene Ursache der Symptome angenommen wird. Anhand einer Literaturrecherche (n=151) wird jedoch gezeigt, dass das Ganser-Syndrom sehr häufig mit Hirnverletzungen assoziiert ist, wobei detaillierte bildgebende, neuropsychologische und neurologische Untersuchungen weitgehend fehlen. Wir stellen eine rechtshändige Patientin mit einem Ganser-Syndrom nach einem großen linkshemisphärischen Mediainfarkt vor. Die detaillierte neuropsychologische Untersuchung zeigte eine untypische Lateralisierung kognitiver Funktionen mit einer sog. gekreuzten Nichtaphasie und ausgeprägten frontal-exekutiven Funktionsstörungen. Unter Berücksichtigung sowohl der psychiatrischen als auch der neuropsychologischen Aspekte wird diskutiert, in welchem Zusammenhang das psychopathologische Symptom des „Vorbeiantwortens“ mit spezifischen frontal-exekutiven Hirnfunktionsstörungen stehen könnte.
To quantify regional cerebral blood volume (rCBV) on the basis of the enhancement of blood proton relaxation rates after intravenous administration of gadopentetate dimeglumine.
A series of ...sequential MR images on one section was recorded during bolus transit with a standard fast low-angle shot sequence. The signal-intensity curves were converted into corresponding concentration-time curves from which rCBV images were calculated.
The functional parameter images of rCBV were calculated pixel-by-pixel for two patients who had received a 1-second bolus injection of 1 mmol of gadopentetate dimeglumine. In a larger series of 62 patients, a mean blood volume of 4.6 +/- 1.6 vol% was determined for normal brain tissue.
The relaxing effect of a contrast agent can be used to determine blood volume quantitatively. The results are in agreement with those obtained by nuclear medicine techniques. The proposed method requires no special hardware, and can thus be implemented on clinical MR scanners.
A simulation study was conducted to assess the influence of differences in the length of individual testing periods on estimates of (co)variance components of a random regression model for daily feed ...intake of growing pigs performance tested between 30 and 100 kg live weight. A quadratic polynomial in days on test with fixed regressions for sex, random regressions for additive genetic and permanent environmental effects and a constant residual variance was used for a bivariate simulation of feed intake and daily gain. (Co)variance components were estimated for feed intake only by means of a Bayesian analysis using Gibbs sampling and restricted maximum likelihood (REML). A single trait random regression model analogous to the one used for data simulation was used to analyse two versions of the data: full data sets with 18 weekly means of feed intake per animal and reduced data sets with the individual length of testing periods determined when tested animals reached 100 kg live weight. Only one significant difference between estimates from full and reduced data (REML estimate of genetic covariance between linear and quadratic regression parameters) and two significant differences from expected values (Gibbs estimates of permanent environmental variance of quadratic regression parameters) occurred. These differences are believed to be negligible, as the number lies within the expected range of type I error when testing at the 5% level. The course of test day variances calculated from estimates of additive genetic and permanent environmental covariance matrices also supports the conclusion that no bias in estimates of (co)variance components occurs due to the individual length of testing periods of performance‐tested growing pigs. A lower number of records per tested animal only results in more variation among estimates of (co)variance components from reduced compared with full data sets. Compared with the full data, the effective sample size of Gibbs samples from the reduced data decreased to 18% for residual variance and increased up to five times for other (co)variances. The data structure seems to influence the mixing of Gibbs chains.
Einfluss der unterschiedlichen Mastdauer auf die Schätzung der Varianzkomponenten eines Random Regression Modells für die Futteraufnahme von Mastschweinen
Mit einer Simulationsstudie wurde der Einfluss von Unterschieden in der individuellen Mastdauer auf die Schätzung der Varianzkomponenten eines Random Regression Modells für die tägliche Futteraufnahme wachsender Schweine im Bereich von 30 bis 100 kg Lebendgewicht untersucht. Tägliche Futteraufnahme und Tageszuwachs wurden mit einem Zweimerkmals Random Regression Modell in Form eines quadratischen Polynoms in Abhängigkeit des Testtages generiert. Aus den generierten Futteraufnahmedaten wurden für ein entsprechendes Einmerkmals Random Regression Modell die Varianzkomponenten, sowohl mit einem Bayes’schen Ansatz unter Verwendung von Gibbs Sampling, als auch mit der REML‐Methode, geschätzt. Für jeden der 20 generierten Datensätze wurden der vollständige Datensatz mit 18 Wochenmittelwerten des täglichen Futterverzehrs pro Tier sowie ein reduzierter Datensatz ausgewertet. Letzterer umfasste die Futterverzehrswochenmittelwerte bis zu jenem Zeitpunkt, in dem die einzelnen Tiere aufgrund des generierten Tageszuwachses 100 kg Lebendgewicht erreichten. Nur ein einziger signifikanter Unterschied zwischen vollständigen und reduzierten Datensätzen (REML‐Schätzung der genetischen Kovarianz zwischen linearem und quadratischem Regressionsparameter), sowie zwei signifikante Unterschiede vom Erwartungswert (Gibbs‐Schätzungen der permanenten Umweltvarianz der quadratischen Regressionsparameter für vollständige und reduzierte Datensätze) wurden festgestellt. Diese Unterschiede werden als vernachlässigbar betrachtet, da die Anzahl signifikanter Differenzen im erwarteten Bereich des Fehlers erster Art eines Tests mit fünf Prozent Irrtumswahrscheinlichkeit liegt. Der Verlauf der aus den Kovarianzmatrizen berechneten Testtagesvarianzen unterstützt die Schlussfolgerung, dass die individuelle Länge der Mastperioden auf Station geprüfter Schweine keine Verzerrung der Schätzwerte der Varianzkomponenten bewirkt. Hingegen bewirkt die geringere Anzahl Messwerte eine höhere Streuung der Varianzkomponentenschätzwerte. Die Datenstruktur scheint auch das Verhalten des Gibbs Samplers zu beeinflussen. Gegenüber den vollständigen Datensätzen wurde die geschätzte effektive Länge der Markov‐Kette im Gibbs Sampler bei den reduzierten Datensätzen für die Restvarianz auf durchschnittlich 18% reduziert und für die Elemente der Kovarianzmatrizen zum Teil auf das fünffache erhöht.

The influence of reducing sintering atmospheres on the dielectric behaviour of Mn-doped Ba(TixZr1-x)O3 ceramics with different Zr-contents (x = 0-100 at%) was studied by impedance spectroscopy in the ...temperature range -150 to 300 C and the frequency range 5 mHz to 10 MHz. An equivalent electrical circuit was used to separate bulk from grain boundary or electrode contributions. Reductive sintering decreased the maximum dielectric constant by about 20%. A Curie temperature shift towards lower temperatures was seen. In contrast to materials sintered under oxidising conditions, reduced sintered samples showed a plateau in the Curie temperature versus Zr-content plot, derived from the Curie-Weiss behaviour of the bulk in the cubic phase. 8 refs.
The influence of grain size on the electrical properties of Mn-doped SrTiO3 ceramics was investigated. To obtain different average grain sizes the samples were prepared by variation of the sintering ...conditions: form of the green bodies, heating/cooling ramps, sintering atmosphere, sintering time, and sintering temperature. The grain boundaries of the ceramics were decorated with Mn by diffusion from the ceramics surfaces. Impedance analysis techniques in the scope of time and frequency dependence were used for electrical characterisation, and accelerated life testing (ALT) measurements were performed to characterise the ageing behaviour. 7 refs.
Lysyl oxidase is a promising candidate gene for a mutation search in intracranial aneurysm families because (a) it controls the processing, cross-linking and maturation of collagen and elastin fibers ...in the blood vessel wall, (b) its expression levels and activity are altered in different animal models of aneurysm pathogenesis, and (c) it is encoded within the chromosome 5q22-31 region of suggestive linkage to intracranial aneurysms.
We have performed genomic sequencing of all 7 exons including the intron-exon splice sites and of the putative promoter region for lysyl oxidase in 25 patients from intracranial aneurysm multiplex families resident in Central Europe.
We observed 4 genetic variants including 2 novel polymorphisms, 1 in the noncoding sequence of exon 7 and the other upstream from the lysyl oxidase promoter. None of these single nucleotide polymorphisms showed an allelic association or cosegregation with intracranial aneurysm in the families.
Genetic variants in the lysyl oxidase gene do not appear to be a major factor in the etiology of intracranial aneurysms in Central Europe.
