Facies and environmental setting of the Miocene coral reefs in the Late Cenozoic Antalya Basin are studied to contribute towards a better understanding of the time and space relationships of the reef ...development and the associated basin fill evolution in a tectonically active basin. The Antalya Basin is an extention–compression-related late post-orogenic basin that developed unconformably on a basement comprising a Mesozoic para-authocthonous carbonate platform overthrust by the Antalya Nappes and Alanya Massif metamorphics within the Isparta angle. The Late Cenozoic basin fill consists of thick Miocene to Recent clastic-dominated terrestrial and marine deposits with subordinate marine carbonates and extensive travertines. Late Miocene compressional deformation has resulted into three parts, referred as Aksu, Köprüçay and Manavgat sub-basins, bounded by north–south extending dextral Kırkkavak fault and the westward-verging Aksu thrust.
Coralgal reefs are common within the Miocene sequences and are represented by coral assemblages closely similar to that of the circum-Mediterranean fauna. They occur as massive, small, isolated, patch reefs that developed in two contrasting depositional systems (progradational coastal alluvial fan and/or fan-delta conglomerates and transgressive shelf carbonates) during Early–Middle Miocene and Late Miocene. The Early–Middle Miocene reefs are represented by rich and high-diversity hermatypic corals, mainly comprising
Tarbellastraea, Heliastraea, Favites, Favia, Acanthastraea, Porites, Caulastraea and
Stylophora with occasional presence of solitary (ahermatypic) corals,
Lithophyllia, Mussismilia and
Leptomusso, locally reflecting relative changes in the bathymetry. Densely packed, massive, domal and hemispherical growth forms bounded by coralline algae and encrusting foraminifera
Acervulina construct the reef framework. They occur in the fan-deltas and the transgressive open marine shelf carbonates of the Manavgat and the Köprüçay sub-basins. The Late Miocene reefs occur only in the Aksu sub-basin and are characterized by low-diversity hermatypic corals exclusively dominated by
Porites and
Tarbelastraea with minor
Siderastraea, Favites and
Platygyra. They developed on alluvial fan/fan-delta complexes and shallow marine shelf carbonates.
The Miocene coral reef growth and development in the Antalya Basin are characterized by large- to small-scale, transgressive–regressive reefal cycles which are closely related to the complex interaction of sporadic influxes of coarse terrigeneous clastics derived from the tectonically active basin margins and the related sea-level fluctuations.
In this study, Heterocera species collected by light trap method in Sile region, Istanbul province, Turkey during the years of 2007 - 2008 was evaluated. A total of 194 specimens were collected from ...48 different locations in Sile. According to identification results, 70 species belonging to 15 families were recorded. The family Noctuidae was represented by the highest number of species (26), followed by Geometridae (16) and Notodontidae (6).
Other primary headache disorders (OPHD) are under-investigated compared to frequent primary headache types like migraine, tension-type headache, and trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. Knowledge of ...the distribution and characteristics of OPHD subtypes is crucial for their recognition. We aimed to determine the prevalence at the hospital and headache clinics and clinical characteristics of OPHDs in patients from 13 countries.
We analyzed a large dataset from the cross-sectional study Head-MENA-A (Middle East, North Africa, Asia). Consecutive patients over 10 years of age presenting with headaches were included from outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings. A structured questionnaire addressing demographics, headache characteristics, accompanying symptoms, and triggers was administered. Headache subtypes were diagnosed according to the ICHD-3 criteria.
Among patients complaining of headaches (n = 3722), 106 (2.9%) were diagnosed with OPHD. Fifty-two patients (1.4% of all headache patients) had only OPHD, while 54 (1.5%) had both OPHD and a co-existing primary headache (mostly migraine). All OPHDs were more common in females. The most frequent subtypes were new daily persistent headache and primary stabbing headache (0.2% each among all admitted patients). Photophobia and phonophobia were the most frequent accompanying symptoms, while physical activity (28.8%), stress (15.4%), and the Valsalva maneuver (15.4%) were the most common triggering factors. The majority of triggering factors were more pronounced in patients with both migraine and OPHD.
Other primary headaches are rare and heterogeneous. Their high co-existence with migraine suggests shared predisposing factors, hinting at a "headache continuum" concept for primary headaches.
Radiolarians and planktonic foraminifera are documented in the chert and limestone alternations in the Yigitler section from the Circum Troodos Massif Sedimentary Succession in northern Cyprus. Based ...on the stratigraphic ranges of radiolarians, the examined samples from the Middle Lefkara Formation can be assigned to six biozones: Bekoma bidartensis (RP7), Buryella clinata (RP8), Phormocyrtis striata striata (RP9), Theocotyle cryptocephala (RP10), Dictyoprora mongolfieri (RP11) and Thyrsocyrtis (Pentalacorys) triacantha (RP12) zones. The planktonic foraminifera recovered from the examined samples are assigned to Morozovella velascoensis IZ (P5), Morozovella subbotinae PRZ (P6), Morozovella aragonensis/Morozovella formosa formosa CRZ (P7), Morozovella aragonensis PRZ (P8) and Acarinina pentacamerata PRZ (P9) zones. These zonal assignments indicate a Late Paleocene to early Middle Eocene age for the Middle Lefkara Formation.

Abstract This article focuses on female bodies co‐laboring across the racial lines and academic‐activist divides to explore both the potentials and constraints of feminist solidarity in the ...hyper‐masculine and ultra‐nationalist normative order of the global war on terror. Anthropological studies have deconstructed phantasmatic narratives of the global war on terror by disclosing its racialized and classed structure. However, what remains understudied is how racialized female bodies are subjected to the biopower and necropower of this war. This ethnography concentrates on the feminist solidarity between Özlem Yasak and Serra Hakyemez, the coauthors of this article, which stretches over 13 years and moves between the colony and the metropole and the Global South and Global North. It examines how a Turkish academic and a Kurdish activist (both lower middle‐class women) forge, cultivate, and repair their comradeship as they move from an immigration office to their family house to neoliberal universities. Based on what we call the Other‐graphy as a new feminist method, this article argues that the global war on terror expands its reach as the humanitarian and neoliberal regimes of power recruit activists and academics to the fantasy of autonomous subjectivity posited against their possible political solidarity.
Resumen Este artículo se enfoca en cuerpos de mujeres cotrabajando a través de líneas raciales y divisiones académico‐activistas para explorar tanto los potenciales como constreñimientos de la solidaridad feminista en el orden normativo hipermasculino y ultranacionalista de la guerra global contra el terrorismo. Estudios antropológicos han deconstruido narrativas fantasmáticas de la guerra global contra el terrorismo al develar su estructura racializada y clasista. Sin embargo, lo que permanece sin estudiarse es cómo los cuerpos de mujeres racializados están sujetos al biopoder y necropoder de esta guerra. Esta etnografía se concentra en la solidaridad femenina entre Özlem Yasak y Serra Hakyemez, las coautoras de este artículo, el cual se extiende a lo largo de 13 años y se mueve entre la colonia y la metrópoli del Sur Global y el Norte Global. Examina cómo una académica turca y una activista kurda (ambas mujeres de clase media) forjan, cultivan y reparan su camaradería en la medida que ellas se mueven de una oficina de inmigración a su casa de familia y a universidades neoliberales. Park events elevate crime risk in and around parks for brief periods by granting offenders close contact with abundant suitable targets in outdoor spaces. This study proposes to capture the ...formulated transient crime risk with a network-based feature, Park Event Density (PED), that monitors the dynamic event density across parks. We incorporate the PED into various crime hotspot prediction models to test its effectiveness. The sample includes all the robbery(n = 1555) and theft(n = 22596) incidents between 2016 and 2018 in the Center Side of Chicago. We generate daily and intraday crime hotspot predictions using two spatiotemporal graph learning algorithms (i.e., Graph Wavenet and Spatiotemporal Graph Convolution Neural Networks) and a traditional counterpart (i.e., LSTM). The results reveal that the PED-incorporated models have up to 25% higher accuracy, particularly in the intraday theft predictions. Another significant result indicates that the predictive accuracies of spatiotemporal graph learning algorithms are up to three times higher than their traditional counterpart. The proposed method provides additional information to security decision-makers with crime hotspot prediction models sensitive to the changing crime risk landscape across a region during park events. It also helps organize safer outdoor public events by enacting timely security interventions through more accurate crime hotspot predictions.
•Incorporating park events increases the accuracy of theft hotspot predictions.•Graph learning algorithms outperform traditional algorithms in hotspot prediction.•The prediction models with park events capture a larger number of crimes in parks.
