For more safe and efficacious laser angioplasty, it is important to ablate the atherosclerotic lesion by as lower energy as possible. This study examined the enhancement of laser ablation in blood by ...using a photosensitizer. The laser source is Argon ion laser and Hematoporphyrin Derivatives (HpD) is used as a photosensitizer. Atherosclerotic rabbits, whose atherosclerotic lesion in the aorta were induced by balloon damage and by 2% cholesterol diet, were divided into two groups, that is, HpD (5mg/kg) administration, and non-administration as controls. The laser energy was 100mW-2000mW and the exposure time was 1sec.-180sec. Laser ablation was performed in saline and in blood. Atherosclerosis lesions using HpD were vaporized by lower energy and shorter time level than controls. It was also recognized that each ablation was enhanced in blood. Using HpD, the laser ablating threshold of atherosclerosis intima was lowered and the ablating volume was increased. Laser ablation without the perforation or the injury of normal wall will be accomplished by this method.
This studies were performed on the possibility of safety making atherosclerotic foci regress with photodynamic therapy (PDT) using Hematoporphyrin Derivatives (HpD), as a photosensitizer. ...Atherosclerotic rabbits, whose atherosclerotic lesions in the aorta were induced by 2% cholesterol diet and by balloon damage, were divided into two groups, that is, group C and group H. The group C is consisted of rabbits nontreated with HpD and the group H treated with HpD. The argon laser introduced by fiber was irradiated on the athromatous lesion of abdominal aorta in vitro for 1sec-180sec, and the power was 100mW-2000mW. The aorta was dissected for histological study. Group H atherosclerotic lesions were vaprized by lower energy and shorter time level than in group C. From the above data, it is suggested that PDT may be effective for treatment of atheromatous lesion of artery.

Cefotetan distribution was examined in mice oral tissues by the agar well method. After abdominal administration of Cefotetan 200μg/g in mice, tissue concentration reached a peak in 5 minutes. The ...tissues in order of concentration were the serum, mouth floor, femur, mandibular bone, tongue, submandibular gland and masseter.

A 55-years-old man was admitted to our hospital because of epigastralgia. The abdomen was tender on palpation in the epigastrium but no mass were palpable. Laboratory data were unremarkable. X-ray ...photographs and endoscopic pictures of the stomach revealed an ulcer on the lesser curvature of the angulus and multiple erosions and polypoid lesions on the antrum. The resected stomach showed polypoid lesions on the intermediate zone and hypertrophic folds of the corpus. Histologically sarcoid tubercles were revealed in the mucosa and the submucosa of the antrum and the corpus.
