Context. The intracluster light (ICL) is a luminous component of galaxy clusters composed of stars that are gravitationally bound to the cluster potential, but do not belong to the individual ...galaxies. Previous studies of the ICL have shown that its formation and evolution are intimately linked to the evolutionary stage of the cluster. Thus, the analysis of the ICL in the Coma cluster will give insights into the main processes driving the dynamics in this highly complex system. Aims. Using a recently developed technique, we measure the ICL fraction in Coma at several wavelengths, using the J-PLUS unique filter system. The combination of narrow- and broadband filters provides valuable information on the dynamical state of the cluster, the ICL stellar types, and the morphology of the diffuse light. Methods. We used the Chebyshev-Fourier intracluster light estimator (CICLE) to distinguish the ICL from the light of the galaxies, and to robustly measure the ICL fraction in seven J-PLUS filters. Results. We obtain the ICL fraction distribution of the Coma cluster at different optical wavelengths, which varies from ∼7%−21%, showing the highest values in the narrowband filters J0395, J0410, and J0430. This ICL fraction excess is a distinctive pattern that has recently been observed in dynamically active clusters (mergers), indicating a higher amount of bluer stars in the ICL than in cluster galaxies. Conclusions. The high ICL fractions and the excess in the bluer filters are indicative of a merging state. The presence of younger stars or stars with lower metallicity in the ICL suggests that the main mechanism of ICL formation for the Coma cluster is the stripping of the stars in the outskirts of infalling galaxies and possibly the disruption of dwarf galaxies during past or ongoing mergers.
Aims. We present the photometric calibration of the 12 optical passbands observed by the Javalambre Photometric Local Universe Survey (J-PLUS). Methods. The proposed calibration method has four ...steps: (i) definition of a high-quality set of calibration stars using Gaia information and available 3D dust maps; (ii) anchoring of the J-PLUS gri passbands to the Pan-STARRS photometric solution, accounting for the variation in the calibration with the position of the sources on the CCD; (iii) homogenization of the photometry in the other nine J-PLUS filters using the dust de-reddened instrumental stellar locus in (𝒳 − r) versus (g − i) colours, where 𝒳 is the filter to calibrate. The zero point variation along the CCD in these filters was estimated with the distance to the stellar locus. Finally, (iv) the absolute colour calibration was obtained with the white dwarf locus. We performed a joint Bayesian modelling of 11 J-PLUS colour–colour diagrams using the theoretical white dwarf locus as reference. This provides the needed offsets to transform instrumental magnitudes to calibrated magnitudes outside the atmosphere. Results. The uncertainty of the J-PLUS photometric calibration, estimated from duplicated objects observed in adjacent pointings and accounting for the absolute colour and flux calibration errors, are ∼19 mmag in u, J0378, and J0395; ∼11 mmag in J0410 and J0430; and ∼8 mmag in g, J0515, r, J0660, i, J0861, and z. Conclusions. We present an optimized calibration method for the large-area multi-filter J-PLUS project, reaching 1–2% accuracy within an area of 1022 square degrees without the need for long observing calibration campaigns or constant atmospheric monitoring. The proposed method will be adapted for the photometric calibration of J-PAS, that will observe several thousand square degrees with 56 narrow optical filters.
ABSTRACT
In this paper we present a thorough discussion about the photometric redshift (photo-z) performance of the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS). This survey combines a seven ...narrow +5 broad passband filter system, with a typical photometric-depth of r ∼ 21 AB. For this exercise, we utilize the Data Release 1 (DR1), corresponding to 336 deg2 from the Stripe-82 region. We rely on the BPZ2 code to compute our estimates, using a new library of SED models, which includes additional templates for quiescent galaxies. When compared to a spectroscopic redshift control sample of ∼100 k galaxies, we find a precision of σz <0.8 per cent, <2.0 per cent, or <3.0 per cent for galaxies with magnitudes r < 17, <19, and <21, respectively. A precision of 0.6 per cent is attained for galaxies with the highest Odds values. These estimates have a negligible bias and a fraction of catastrophic outliers inferior to 1 per cent. We identify a redshift window (i.e. 0.26 < z < 0.32) where our estimates double their precision, due to the simultaneous detection of two emission lines in two distinct narrow bands; representing a window opportunity to conduct statistical studies such as luminosity functions. We forecast a total of ∼2 M, ∼16 M and ∼32 M galaxies in the S-PLUS survey with a photo-z precision of σz <1.0 per cent, <2.0 per cent, and <2.5 per cent after observing 8000 deg2. We also derive redshift probability density functions, proving their reliability encoding redshift uncertainties and their potential recovering the n(z) of galaxies at z < 0.4, with an unprecedented precision for a photometric survey in the Southern hemisphere.

Background and importanceTreatment with biologic drugs is indicated in patients with moderate to severe psoriasis, and the therapeutic goal is an improvement equal to or greater than Psoriasis Area ...and Severity Index (PASI) 75.Aim and objectivesTo analyse the use of profile guselkumab in a tertiary hospital and to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and adherence of the treatment in clinical practice in moderate-severe plaque psoriasisMaterial and methodsObservational, retrospective, descriptive study including all the patients who were prescribed guselkumab from 2019 to October 2021.Demographic (sex, age) and clinical data (previous biological treatment, date of initiation of treatment and subsequent doses administered, adverse effects and reason for ending treatment) were collected from the digital medical record and the electronic prescription programme.Effectiveness was derived from PASI levels and recorded over an average of 56 weeks. Safety was measured by the rate of adverse effects.Results33 patients (48.5% male and 51.5% female) with a mean age of 49 years. 6.1% received guselkumab as the first line of treatment, 48.9% as the second line and 45.4% as the third or more lines. The biological drugs which were previously used were etanercept (63.6%), adalimumab (30.3%), ustekinumab (30.3%), secukinumab (27.3%), ixekizumab (12.1%) and apremilast (3%).An average of 57.53 days of difference between medication administration dates was recorded, confirming good adherence to the treatment (100 mg subcutaneous every 56 days).In terms of effectiveness evaluation, the mean baseline PASI was 10.6 and the mean PASI over a 56-week period was 2.17. This represents an average reduction of 79.5% in PASI levels.26 patients achieved a decrease in PASI, and of these 12 reached PASI 100.Adverse effects were detected in 3 patients (9%): diarrhoea, candida spp infection and suppurative outbreak. Treatment discontinuation occurred in 5 patients (15.1%) due to the appearance of adverse effects (2) inefficiency of treatment (2) and desire for pregnancy (1).Conclusion and relevanceThe use of guselkumab is an appropriate therapeutic option in patients diagnosed with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis after failure of at least one biologic treatment. Cerebellar phaeohyphomycosis was diagnosed in an 8-year-old neutered male domestic cat. Gross lesions were limited to the cerebellum, which had a focally extensive dark brown–black, soft, irregular ...area affecting the cortex and white matter of the left hemisphere and extending to the reticular formation. Microscopically, multifocal pyogranulomatous meningoencephalitis with intralesional pigmented fungal hyphae effaced the cerebellar grey and white matter. Fungal hyphae were 3–6 μm in diameter, septate and non-dichotomously branched, with parallel, thin and slightly bulbous walls. Polymerase chain reaction for the internal transcribed spacer 1–2 ribosomal RNA genes was performed on tissue samples from formalin-fixed and paraffin wax-embedded sections of cerebellum. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the amplified fragment identified the fungal agent as Cladosporium cladosporioides. This is the first confirmed report of cerebellar phaeohyphomycosis attributable to C. cladosporioides-complex in a domestic cat.
