We have recently experiencd a case of large ameloblastoma with severe hypoproteinemia. The patient was a 34-year-old man, who was pointed out the existence of ameloblastoma in the left molar region ...of the mandible 13 years ago in our hospital, but refused to receive a therapy for ameloblastoma. After 13 years, he came to our hospital with a complaint of airway obstruction. He had a difficulty in eating, so his general condition was very bad. Especially, he had severe hypoproteinemia as total protein in his blood was 3.0g/dl. We tried to recover his general condition but failed to normalize his hypoproteinemia because of a leak of serum through a fistula opening in the oral cavity. Before the treatment for restoration sudden bleeding from the tumor compelled us to perform an operation, but we could not resect all of the tumor because of massive bleeding. After that, we used a sclerosing agent. Though it was locally effective, his general condition became worsened and he ultimately died of lung edema. We report a case of advanced ameloblastoma with severe hypoproteinemia.
We report on a rare case of trismus caused by bilateral hypertrophy of the coronoid processes of the mandible. A 13-year old boy presented at our institute complaining of restricted mandible ...movement. An initial diagnosis of TMJ dysfunction was established, and routine therapy was instituted; however, his condition did not improve. A more thorough examination was undertaken; CT scanning revealed bilateral hyperplasia of the coronoid process. Both coronoid proces were surgically resected. Symptoms immediately disappeared. The condition appeared due to irritation within the zygomatic arch by the coronoid process.
Anti-HCV were tested in 6, 093 voluntary blood donors (male 3, 842, female 2, 251) and 566 medical employees (doctors 219, nurses 297, technologists 50) using ELISA Kit of Ortho Diagnostic Systems ...Co. In voluntary blood donors, percentage of anti-HCV positivity over 36-year-old was statisticaly higher than that under 35-year-old. It is supposed that this phenomena was caused by the improvement of circumstances of common health and exchanging needls every person in preventive inoculation. In medical employees there is no statistical difference between doctors, nurses technologists and blood donors. In 6 cases anti-HCV positive in ELISA methods, only 3 cases were positive in RIA methods.
Intrahepatic distribution and intracellular localization of pre-S2 antigen was studied in 87 liver biopsy specimens from 79 patients with chronic type B hepatitis. Of 87 biopsy specimens, pre-S2 ...antigen was observed in 70, HBsAg in 71 and HBcAg in 49 subjects, respectively after staining with peroxidase-anti-per-oxidase technique. Intracellular pre-S2 antigen was stained in three patterns, that is, cytoplasmic diffuse pattern, inclusion pattern and membranous pattern. pre-S2 antigen was stained in 70 of 71 specimens demonstrated HBsAg in their liver tissue, and 69 of those 70 specimens showed similar staining pattern to HBsAg. HBcAg was observed in the liver in relation to serum HBe antigenemia and DNAP activities. In contrast to HBcAg, detection of pre-S2 antigen and HBsAg in the liver was not associated with serum HBeAg or DNAP activities.
