Based on this monitoring results, we compared and assessed the factors affecting expansion in shale, shell limestone, and tight sandstone and the fracture expansion in these rocks. In shale, the reformed reservoir volume is the highest, fracture network is formed in the process of fracturing. In tight sandstone, the fracture surface boundaries are curved, and the fracture surface area accounts for 25–50% of the entire specimen. In shell limestone, the complexity of the fracture morphology is between shale and tight sandstone, but no fracture network is developed. Brittleness controls the fracture surface area. In highly brittle rocks, the fracture surface area is high. Fracture toughness mainly affects the initiation and propagation of cracks. A fracture network is formed only if bedding planes are present and are more weaker than their corresponding matrix. The horizontal in situ deviatoric stress affects the crack propagation direction, and different lithologies have different horizontal in situ deviatoric stress thresholds. Low fluid injection rate facilitates the formation of complex cracks, whereas high fluid injection rate favors the development of fractures. Fluid injection weakly controls the complexity of hydraulic fracturing in low-brittleness rocks, whereas low-viscosity fracturing fluids favor the formation of complex cracks owing to easy enter microcracks and micro-pore. Displacement has a greater impact on high brittle rocks than low brittle rocks.
This study aimed to clarify changes in the prevalence of rheumatic diseases in Shantou, China, in the past 3 decades and validate whether stair-climbing is a risk factor for knee pain and knee ...osteoarthritis (KOA). The World Health Organization-International League Against Rheumatism Community Oriented Program for Control of Rheumatic Diseases (COPCORD) protocol was implemented. In all, 2337 adults living in buildings without elevators and 1719 adults living in buildings with elevators were surveyed. The prevalence of rheumatic pain at any site and in the knee was 15.7% and 10.2%, respectively; both types of pain had a significantly higher incidence in residents of buildings without elevators than was reported by people who lived in buildings with elevators (14.9% vs. 10.6% and 11.32% vs. 8.82%, respectively) (both P < 0.0001). The prevalence of rheumatic pain in the neck, lumbar spine, shoulder, elbow, and foot was 5.6%, 4.5%, 3.1%, 1.4%, and 1.8%, respectively; these findings were similar to the data from the 1987 rural survey, but were somewhat lower than data reported in the urban and suburban surveys of the 1990s, with the exception of neck and lumbar pain. The prevalence of KOA, gout, and fibromyalgia was 7.10%, 1.08%, and 0.07%, respectively, and their prevalence increased significantly compared with those in previous studies from the 20th century. There were no significant differences in the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (0.35%) or ankylosing spondylitis (AS) (0.31%) compared to that reported in prior surveys. The prevalence of KOA was higher in for residents of buildings without elevators than that in those who had access to elevators (16-64 years, 5.89% vs. 3.95%, P = 0.004; 16->85 years, 7.64% vs. 6.26%, P = 0.162). The prevalence of RA and AS remained stable, whereas that of KOA, gout, and fibromyalgia has increased significantly in Shantou, China, during the past 3 decades. Stair-climbing might be an important risk factor for knee pain and KOA.
Hypotension induced by spinal anaesthesia is a common clinical complication associated with multiple perioperative adverse events. We conducted a systemic review and meta-analysis to confirm whether ...ondansetron could alleviate hypotension following spinal anaesthesia. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched to identify eligible randomised controlled trials from their respective database inception dates to 30 September 2022. The primary outcome of the meta-analysis was the incidence of hypotension after spinal anaesthesia. The risk of bias in the included studies was evaluated using the revised Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomised trials (RoB 2.0). Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation was applied to assess the level of certainty. A total of 25 studies were included in this research. The meta-analysis revealed that ondansetron significantly decreased the incidence of hypotension (RR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.53−0.80, p < 0.01, I2 = 64%) and bradycardia. In addition, patients treated with ondansetron had a reduced need for vasopressors administration. This study suggests that ondansetron may be recommended as a prophylaxis for hypotension and bradycardia following spinal anaesthesia; the level of evidence was moderate with a high level of heterogeneity.
Optogenetics has become a widely used technique in neuroscience research, capable of controlling neuronal activity with high spatiotemporal precision and cell‐type specificity. Expressing exogenous ...opsins in the selected cells can induce neuronal activation upon light irradiation, and the activation depends on the power of incident light. However, high optical power can also lead to off‐target neuronal activation or even cell damage. Limiting the incident power, but enhancing power distribution to the targeted neurons, can improve optogenetic efficiency and reduce off‐target effects. Here, the use of optical lenses made of polystyrene microspheres is demonstrated to achieve effective focusing of the incident light of relatively low power to neighboring neurons via photonic jets. The presence of microspheres significantly localizes and enhances the power density to the target neurons both in vitro and ex vivo, resulting in increased inward current and evoked action potentials. In vivo results show optogenetic stimulation with microspheres that can evoke significantly more motor behavior and neuronal activation at lowered power density. In all, a proof‐of‐concept of a strategy is demonstrated to increase the efficacy of optogenetic neuromodulation using pulses of reduced optical power.
Activation of ChR2 by blue light can be enhanced by polystyrene (PS) microsphere in vitro. PS microsphere facilitates the regulation of neuron activity by opening of ChR2 ex vivo. Photonic nanojet‐mediated optogenetics by PS microsphere improves the regulation of targeting neuronal activity in vivo.

Accumulating evidence has been reported that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of relatively stable, non-coding RNAs, which are involved in the progression of many types of diseases. However, the mechanism of hsa_circ_0052112 in breast cancer cells is not entirely clear. Hsa_circ_0052112, generated from the ZNF83 gene, is selected by analyzing circRNA expression profiles of breast cancer cell by using microarray assay. In this study, we will show the role of hsa_circ_0052112 in regulating cell invasion and migration in breast cancer.
The expression level of hsa_circ_0052112 in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells was detected by RT-qPCR; we performed transwell assay to evaluate breast cancer cells’ migration and invasion; predicated circRNA/miRNAs interaction using the miRanda and RNAhybrid software; identified the relationship between hsa_circ_0052112 and miR-125a-5p by luciferase activity assay and show the localization of hsa_circ_0052112 by FISH assay and show the significance of ZNF83 in clinical prognosis by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis.
Hsa_circ_0052112 expression was significantly higher in MDA-MB-231 cells than that in MCF-7 cells. Overexpression of hsa_circ_0052112 promoted cell migration and invasion in breast cancer. Inversely, down-regulation of hsa_circ_0052112 suppressed breast cancer cells migration and invasion. Hsa_circ_0052112 was mostly located in cytoplasm. Hsa_circ_0052112 could directly sponge to miR-125a-5p; overexpression of miR-125a-5p significantly inhibited breast cancer cells migration and invasion. However, high or low expression of miR-125a-5p was not correlated with relapse free survival (RFS) by TCGA database validation, but high expression of ZNF83 was closely correlated with poor RFS by Kaplan–Meier plotter.
These data suggest that hsa_circ_0052112 may be a potent biomarker for breast cancer, and may provide a new perspective on treatment of breast cancer.

3D porous carbon encapsulated SnO2 nanoparticles composite (SnO2-PC) prepared by an efficient in situ methodology was applied as anode for sodium ion batteries (SIBs). It delivered a high reversible specific capacity of 280.1mAhg−1 after 250 cycles at a current density of 100mAg−1, with ultrahigh capacity retention of 91.63%. Notably, it can Exhibit 100mAhg−1 after 1000 cycles even at a high current density of 1600mAg−1. These greatly enhanced electrochemical properties of SnO2-PC composite can be attributed to the superior structure that the electrical conductivity of the composite was improved by the porous carbon matrix, moreover, it can serve as a cushion during the process of Na ion insertion/extraction into the composite. Significantly, this kind of in situ synthesis method is portable for other similar composite.
The beetle Octodonta nipae (Maulik) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) is a serious invasive insect pest of palm plants in southern China, and the endoparasitoid Tetrastichus brontispae Ferrière ...(Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) is a natural enemy of this pest that exhibits great ability in the biocontrol of O. nipae. For successful parasitism, endoparasitoids often introduce or secrete various virulence factors to suppress host immunity. To investigate the effects of parasitization by T. brontispae on the O. nipae immune system, the transcriptome of O. nipae pupae was analyzed with a focus on immune-related genes through Illumina sequencing. De novo assembly generated 49,919 unigenes with a mean length of 598 bp. Of these genes, 27,490 unigenes (55.1% of all unigenes) exhibited clear homology to known genes in the NCBI nr database. Parasitization had significant effects on the transcriptome profile of O. nipae pupae, and most of these differentially expressed genes were down-regulated. Importantly, the expression profiles of immune-related genes were significantly regulated after parasitization. Taken together, these transcriptome sequencing efforts shed valuable light on the host (O. nipae) manipulation mechanisms induced by T. brontispae, which will pave the way for the development of novel immune defense-based management strategies of O. nipae, and provide a springboard for further molecular analyses, particularly of O. nipae invasion.
Hydrogel-based triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) has a promising applied prospect in wearable electronic devices. However, its low performance, poor stability, insufficient recyclability and ...inferior self-healing seriously hinder its development. Herein, we report a robust route to a liquid metal (LM)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel-based TENG (LP-TENG). Owing to the intrinsically liquid feature of conductive LM within the flexible PVA hydrogel, the as-prepared LP-TENG exhibited comprehensive advantages of adaptability, biocompatibility, outstanding electrical performance, superior stability, recyclability and diverse applications, which were unattainable by traditional systems. Concretely, the LP-TENG delivered appealing open circuit voltage of 250 V, short circuit current of 4 μA and transferred charge of 120 nC with high stability, outperforming most advanced TENG systems. The LP-TENG was successfully employed for versatile applications with multifunctionality, including human motion detection, handwriting recognition, energy collection, message transmission and human–machine interaction. This work presents significant prospects for crafting advanced materials and devices in the fields of wearable electronics, flexible skin and smart robots.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is one of the most prevalent metabolic syndromes worldwide. However, no approved pharmacological treatments are available for MAFLD. ...Chenpi, one kind of dried peel of citrus fruits, has traditionally been utilized as a medicinal herb for liver diseases. Didymin is a newly identified oral bioactive dietary flavonoid glycoside derived from Chenpi. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic potential of Didymin as an anti-MAFLD drug and elucidated its underlying mechanisms.
High-fat diet (HFD)-induced MAFLD mice and alpha mouse liver 12 (AML12) cells were utilized to evaluate the effects and mechanisms of Didymin in the treatment of MAFLD. Liver weight, serum biochemical parameters, and liver morphology were examined to demonstrate the therapeutic efficacy of Didymin in MAFLD treatment. RNA-seq analysis was performed to identify potential pathways that could be affected by Didymin. The impact of Didymin on Sirt1 was corroborated through western blot, molecular docking analysis, microscale thermophoresis (MST), and deacetylase activity assay. Then, a Sirt1 inhibitor (EX-527) was utilized to confirm that Didymin alleviates MAFLD via Sirt1. Western blot and additional assays were used to investigate the underlying mechanisms.
Our results suggested that Didymin may possess therapeutic potential against MAFLD in vitro and in vivo. By promoting Sirt1 expression as well as directly binding to and activating Sirt1, Didymin triggers downstream pathways that enhance mitochondrial biogenesis and function while reducing apoptosis and enhancing lipophagy.
These suggest that Didymin could be a promising medication for MAFLD treatment. Furthermore, its therapeutic effects are mediated by Sirt1.
