The study of ethical leadership has emerged as an important topic in relation to understanding the effects of leadership within organizations. We propose that the voice behavior of employees serves ...as a mechanism reflecting how ethical leadership affects individual creativity. We develop a moderated-mediation model of the psychological processes linking perceptions of ethical leadership and creativity. We further argue that these relationships are moderated by a climate for innovation. Using three-phase multilevel data from multiple sources, we collected data from 291 employees and 58 workgroups from R&D institutions in Taiwan. The HLM results suggest that (1) there is a positive relationship between employee perceptions of ethical leadership and employees' voice behavior, (2) voice behavior is positively related to individual creativity, and (3) the indirect effect of ethical leadership on individual creativity (via voice behavior) is stronger when the employee works in a more innovative climate. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are also discussed.
The second version of the NCEP Climate Forecast System (CFSv2) was made operational at NCEP in March 2011. This version has upgrades to nearly all aspects of the data assimilation and forecast model ...components of the system. A coupled reanalysis was made over a 32-yr period (1979–2010), which provided the initial conditions to carry out a comprehensive reforecast over 29 years (1982–2010). This was done to obtain consistent and stable calibrations, as well as skill estimates for the operational subseasonal and seasonal predictions at NCEP with CFSv2. The operational implementation of the full system ensures a continuity of the climate record and provides a valuable up-to-date dataset to study many aspects of predictability on the seasonal and subseasonal scales. Evaluation of the reforecasts show that the CFSv2 increases the length of skillful MJO forecasts from 6 to 17 days (dramatically improving subseasonal forecasts), nearly doubles the skill of seasonal forecasts of 2-m temperatures over the United States, and significantly improves global SST forecasts over its predecessor. The CFSv2 not only provides greatly improved guidance at these time scales but also creates many more products for subseasonal and seasonal forecasting with an extensive set of retrospective forecasts for users to calibrate their forecast products. These retrospective and real-time operational forecasts will be used by a wide community of users in their decision making processes in areas such as water management for rivers and agriculture, transportation, energy use by utilities, wind and other sustainable energy, and seasonal prediction of the hurricane season.

In situ synchrotron X‐ray diffraction experiments combined with permitivity measurements disclose the occurrence of a new phase transformation under an electrical field, which extends the transition range between tetragonal and orthorhombic phases. It is revealed that such an electrically enhanced diffused PPT contributed to the boosted thermal stability of KNN‐based lead‐free piezoceramics with high piezoelectricity. The present approach based on phase engineering should also be effective in endowing other lead‐free piezoelectrics with high piezoelectricity and good temperature stability.
A material concept of electrically enhanced diffused polymorphic phase transition (EED‐PPT) is developed to resolve the long‐standing issue of temperature‐sensitivity in lead‐free (K,Na)NbO3 piezoelectrics. Experimental and theoretical studies reveal that EED‐PPT can remarkbaly boost the temperature stability of (K,Na)NbO3, where the normalized strain d33* almost keeps constant from room temperature up to 140 °C.
1,4‐Dicarbonyl compounds are intriguing motifs and versatile precursors in numerous pharmaceutical molecules and bioactive natural compounds. Direct incorporation of two carbonyl groups into a double ...bond at both ends is straightforward, but also challenging. Represented herein is the first example of 1,2‐dicarbonylation of alkenes by photocatalysis. Key to success is that N(n‐Bu)4+ not only associates with the alkyl anion to avoid protonation, but also activates the α‐keto acid to undergo electrophilic addition. The α‐keto acid is employed both for acyl generation and electrophilic addition. By tuning the reductive and electrophilic ability of the acyl precursor, unsymmetric 1,4‐dicarbonylation is achieved for the first time. This metal‐free, redox‐neutral and regioselective 1,2‐dicarbonylation of alkenes is executed by a photocatalyst for versatile substrates under extremely mild conditions and shows great potential in biomolecular and drug molecular derivatization.

The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic first broke out in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has now spread worldwide. Laboratory findings have been only partially described in some ...observational studies. To date, more comprehensive systematic reviews of laboratory findings on COVID-19 are missing. We performed a systematic review with a meta-analysis to assess laboratory findings in patients with COVID-19. Observational studies from three databases were selected. We calculated pooled proportions and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) using the random-effects model meta-analysis. A total of 1106 articles were identified from PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI (China), and other sources. After screening, 28 and 7 studies were selected for a systematic review and a meta-analysis, respectively. Of the 4,663 patients included, the most prevalent laboratory finding was increased C-reactive protein (CRP; 73.6%, 95% CI 65.0-81.3%), followed by decreased albumin (62.9%, 95% CI 28.3-91.2%), increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate (61.2%, 95% CI 41.3-81.0%), decreased eosinophils (58.4%, 95% CI 46.5-69.8%), increased interleukin-6 (53.1%, 95% CI 36.0-70.0%), lymphopenia (47.9%, 95% CI 41.6-54.9%), and increased lactate dehydrogenase (LDH; 46.2%, 95% CI 37.9-54.7%). A meta-analysis of seven studies with 1905 patients showed that increased CRP (OR 3.0, 95% CI: 2.1-4.4), lymphopenia (OR 4.5, 95% CI: 3.3-6.0), and increased LDH (OR 6.7, 95% CI: 2.4-18.9) were significantly associated with severity. These results demonstrated that more attention is warranted when interpreting laboratory findings in patients with COVID-19. Patients with elevated CRP levels, lymphopenia, or elevated LDH require proper management and, if necessary, transfer to the intensive care unit.
Cellulose dissolution is a worldwide issue in the production industry. Especially, the development of highly efficient and green cellulose solvents has been considered as a key factor to restrict the ...broad application of different cellulose industries. In this study, different chloride salts, such as LiCl, ZnCl2, CaCl2, and FeCl3, with different water amounts were used as green solvents to investigate the driving force of cellulose dissolution. The superfast and highly efficient cellulose dissolution in ZnCl2·3H2O and FeCl3·6H2O was successfully achieved within 5–20 min, which was confirmed by the results of polarized light microscopy. Moreover, the effect of pH and water amounts of the chloride salts on the cellulose structural change and dissolution ability was investigated for a better understanding of the role of chloride salts during the cellulose dissolution process. Especially, the dissolution mechanism of cellulose in ZnCl2·3H2O and FeCl3·6H2O has been provided compared to other non-derivatizing cellulose solvents.
Abstract
Structurally tunable electronic skin (e‐skin) is beneficial for advancing wearable electronics, prosthetics, and human‐machine interaction (HMI). However, the regulation of e‐skin by ...traditional nanostructure technology is complex and expensive, moreover, the nanostructure's poor deformability leads to small detection range and low sensitivity. Herein, inspired by the structure of skin‐hair and insect burr, a polypyrrole‐silk/glycerol plasticized silk fibroin (P‐silk/RG) e‐skin fabricated by a simple 3D biomimetic structural strategy is reported. Benefitting from the editability (length, position) of this structure, P‐silk/RG has a signal selectivity, long‐cilia P‐silk/RG demonstrates high sensitivity (respond to weak signal‐airflow), while the short‐cilia P‐silk/RG exhibits wide pressure detection range (0.5–200 g) and high cycle stability (8000 compressions). Therefore, different forms of P‐silk/RG are used in different scenarios (long‐cilia for monitoring breathing and coughing for motion detection and disease diagnosis, short‐cilia for pressure‐sensitive Morse code). Besides, P‐silk/RG exhibits good waterproof, editable conductive points and easy device integration, providing the basis for underwater information transmission, multibit coded command output, and early warning for emergency sports accidents and sedentary. Surprisingly, combining this structure with textile weaving can be mass‐produced. Obviously, this 3D biomimetic structure strategy endows e‐skin with editability and improved scene adaptability to provide a favorable way for mass production.
We investigate the dynamics of neutral timelike particles around a hairy black hole in Horndeski’s theory, which is characterized by a coupling parameter with the dimension of length. With deriving ...the particles’ relativistic periastron precessions, a preliminary bound on the hairy black hole is obtained by using the result of the S2 star’s precession with GRAVITY. It is tighter than the previous result constrained by the shadow size from EHT observations of M87* by about 3–4 orders of magnitude. We also analyse the particles’ periodic motions around the hole in the strong gravitational field. It clearly shows that small variations in the coupling parameter can make the neutral particles’ motions back and forth from the quasi-periodic orbits to the periodic orbits or no bound orbit. Our present work might provide hints for distinguishing the hairy black hole in Horndeski’s theory from the classical hole by using the particles’ dynamics in the strong gravitational field.

In ...this study, cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were evaluated as potential adsorbents for the selective adsorption and separation of organic dyes mixtures (methylene blue (MB), with either methyl orange (MO) or rhodamine b (RB) or crystal violet (CV)). The role of surface functional groups on the dye-CNC interaction was examined using pristine and surface-functionalized CNCs, such polydopamine (PD) and melamine–formaldehyde (MF) coated CNCs (PD-CNCs and MF-CNCs respectively). Batch adsorption studies on MB/MO dye mixture showed that pristine CNCs bearing anionic sulfate ester groups exhibited preferential adsorption for MB, with a 85.78% adsorption efficiency. This preferential adsorption was further enhanced in the case of PD-CNCs, which showed 100% adsorption efficiency for MB. Additional studies on MB/RB and MB/CV dye mixtures confirmed that the improved selectivity of PD-CNCs towards MB is associated with the synergistic binding interactions, such as electrostatic attraction, π-π stacking, and hydrogen bonding. MF-CNCs with cationic amine groups displayed selective binding towards MO, an anionic dye. Also, PD-CNCs and MF-CNCs were found to completely separate MB and MO from a diluted MB/MO dye mixture. Isothermal titration calorimetry and dye flocculation experiments confirmed that the selective binding is associated with the surface-functionality of CNCs.
The aim is to explore the relation between inflammation‐associated factors and in‐hospital mortality and investigate which factor is an independent predictor of in‐hospital death in patients with ...coronavirus disease‐2019. This study included patients with coronavirus disease‐2019, who were hospitalized between February 9, 2020, and March 30, 2020. Univariate Cox regression analysis and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression (LASSO) were used to select variables. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was applied to identify independent risk factors in coronavirus disease‐2019. A total of 1135 patients were analyzed during the study period. A total of 35 variables were considered to be risk factors after the univariate regression analysis of the clinical characteristics and laboratory parameters (p < .05), and LASSO regression analysis screened out seven risk factors for further study. The six independent risk factors revealed by multivariate Cox regression were myoglobin (HR, 5.353; 95% CI, 2.633–10.882; p < .001), C‐reactive protein (HR, 2.063; 95% CI, 1.036–4.109; p = .039), neutrophil count (HR, 2.015; 95% CI, 1.154–3.518; p = .014), interleukin 6 (Il‐6; HR, 9.753; 95% CI, 2.952–32.218; p < .001), age (HR, 2.016; 95% CI, 1.077–3.773; p = .028), and international normalized ratio (HR, 2.595; 95% CI, 1.412–4.769; p = .002). Our results suggested that inflammation‐associated factors were significantly associated with in‐hospital mortality in coronavirus disease‐2019 patients. C‐reactive protein, neutrophil count, and interleukin 6 were independent factors for predicting in‐hospital mortality and had a better independent predictive ability. We believe these findings may allow early identification of the patients at high risk for death, and can also assist in better management of these patients.
