Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and/or polypyrrole (PPy) are mixed with chitosan (CS) binder materials for screen-printing supercapacitors (SCs) on arc atmospheric-pressure plasma jet (APPJ)-treated ...carbon cloth. The performance of gel-electrolyte rGO/CS, PPy/CS, and rGO/PPy/CS SCs processed by a dielectric barrier discharge plasma jet (DBDjet) was assessed and compared. DBDjet processing improved the hydrophilicity of these three nanocomposite electrode materials. Electrochemical measurements including electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and galvanostatic charging-discharging (GCD) were used to evaluate the performance of the three types of SCs. The Trasatti method was used to evaluate the electric-double layer capacitance (EDLC) and pseudocapacitance (PC) of the capacitance. The energy and power density of the three types of SCs were illustrated and compared using Ragone plots. Our experiments verify that, with the same weight of active materials, the combined use of rGO and PPy in SCs can significantly increase the capacitance and improve the operation stability.
Recent advances in gene therapy have brought novel treatment options for cancer. However, the full potential of this approach has yet to be unlocked due to the limited payload capacity of commonly ...utilized viral vectors. Virus‐free DNA transposons, including piggyBac, have the potential to obviate these shortcomings. In this study, we improved a previously modified piggyBac system with superior transposition efficiency. We demonstrated that the internal domain sequences (IDS) within the 3′ terminal repeat domain of hyperactive piggyBac (hyPB) donor vector contain dominant enhancer elements. Plasmid‐free donor vector devoid of IDS was used in conjunction with a helper plasmid expressing Quantum PBase™ v2 to generate an optimal piggyBac system, Quantum pBac™ (qPB), for use in T cells. qPB outperformed hyPB in CD20/CD19 CAR‐T production in terms of performance as well as yield of the CAR‐T cells produced. Furthermore, qPB also produced CAR‐T cells with lower donor‐associated variabilities compared to lentiviral vector. Importantly, qPB yielded mainly CD8+ CAR‐TSCM cells, and the qPB‐produced CAR‐T cells effectively eliminated CD20/CD19‐expressing tumor cells both in vitro and in vivo. Our findings confirm qPB as a promising virus‐free vector system with an enhanced payload capacity to incorporate multiple genes. This highly efficient and potentially safe system will be expected to further advance gene therapy applications.
qPB is the most superior vector system for CAR‐T cell production.
This study aimed to identify the trends in the incidence of thymic cancer, i.e., thymoma, thymic carcinoma, and thymic neuroendocrine tumor, in the United States. Data from the United States Cancer ...Statistics (USCS) database (2001-2015) and those from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (SEER 9 1973-2015, SEER 13 1992-2015, and SEER 18 2000-2015) were used in this study. All incidences were per 100,000 population at risk. The trends in incidence were described as annual percent change (APC) using the Joinpoint regression program. Data from the USCS (2001-2015) database showed an increase in thymic cancer diagnosis with an APC of 4.89% from 2001 to 2006, which is mainly attributed to the significant increase in the incidence of thymoma and thymic carcinoma particularly in women. The incidence of thymic cancer did not increase from 2006 to 2015, which may be attributed to the increase in the diagnosis of thymic carcinoma from 2004 to 2015, with a concomitant decrease in thymoma from 2008 to 2015. Before declining, the age-specific incidence of thymic cancer peaked at ages 70-74 years, with a peak incidence at 1.06 per 100,000 population, and decreased in older age groups. The incidence of thymic cancer was higher in men than in women. Asian/Pacific Islanders had the highest incidence of thymoma, followed by black and then white people. The incidence of thymic carcinoma increased from 2004 to 2015, with a concomitant decrease in thymoma from 2008 to 2015. Asian/Pacific Islanders had the highest incidence of thymoma than other races.

•Traditional comparative approach subjectively estimates correction coefficients.•Quantitative Comparative Approach can objectively estimate correction coefficients.•Quantitative ...Comparative Approach is more accurate than the two classical Hedonic price approaches, regression analysis and neural networks.
The purpose of this study is to propose an innovative real estate valuation approach called Quantitative Comparative Approach, which can estimate correction coefficients to overcome the shortcomings of subjective decisions of correction coefficients of traditional comparative approach. The principle is to assume that the price per unit area of real estate is the average price per unit area of the particular circle of housing supply and demand multiplied by the product of several dimensionless adjustment coefficients of factors. The single regression models of these adjustment coefficients can be built with the stepwise decomposition regression analysis. Then the adjustment coefficients of comparative cases and target case can be estimated with these single regression models, and finally the correction coefficients can be estimated by dividing the adjustment coefficients of target case by those of comparative case. The empirical samples are collected from four circles of supply and demand, and are divided into four data sets. The empirical results show that the Quantitative Comparative Approach is more accurate than the two classical Hedonic price approaches, multivariate regression analysis and neural networks.
The aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) family of metabolic enzymes converts aldehydes to carboxylates. Here, we find that the reductive consequence of ALDH7A1 activity, which generates NADH (nicotinamide ...adenine dinucleotide, reduced form) from NAD, underlies how ALDH7A1 coordinates a broad inhibition of the intracellular transport pathways. Studying vesicle formation by the Coat Protein I (COPI) complex, we elucidate that NADH generated by ALDH7A1 targets Brefeldin-A ADP-Ribosylated Substrate (BARS) to inhibit COPI vesicle fission. Moreover, defining a physiologic role for the broad transport inhibition exerted by ALDH7A1, we find that it acts to reduce energy consumption during hypoxia and starvation to promote cellular energy homeostasis. These findings advance the understanding of intracellular transport by revealing how the coordination of multiple pathways can be achieved, and also defining circumstances when such coordination is needed, as well as uncovering an unexpected way that NADH acts in cellular energetics.
The purpose of this study is to explore, after the epidemic, the intelligent traffic management system, which is the key to creating a green leisure tourism environment in the move towards ...sustainable urban development. First, quantitative research, snowballing, and convenience sampling methods are used to analyze 750 questionnaires with a basic statistical test, t-test, ANOVA test, and the Pearson product–moment correlation coefficient (PPMCC) method. Qualitative research and a semi-structured interview method are used to collect the opinions of six experts on the data results. Finally, the results are discussed with the multivariate inspection method. Although the current electric bicycle system is convenient, the study found that the service quality of the airport is sufficient; that the fare of the subway is low and popular with students if the system can ease the crowd during peak hours; and that the login and security check time can be shortened, which can help improve the operating convenience of the system interface and link the information of leisure and tourism activities. On the other hand, adjusting fares, increasing seats, planning for women-only ticketing measures and travel space, providing disinfection or cleaning facilities in public areas, and improving passenger’s public health literacy and epidemic prevention cooperation will further enhance the student travel experience, improve the smart city and green tourism network, and help achieve sustainable urban tourism.
To investigate the postprocedural cardiovascular events and vascular outcomes, including hand ischemia and neurological compromise, after transulnar (TU) catheterization in ipsilateral radial artery ...occlusion.Previous randomized trials have shown that the transulnar (TU) approach for coronary angiogram and intervention has safety and outcomes similar to those of the transradial (TR) approach. However, the safety of the TU procedure when ipsilateral radial artery occlusion occurs is unknown. We retrospectively reviewed 87 TU cases with ipsilateral radial artery occlusion confirmed by a forearm angiogram. Eighty percent of these patients had a history of ipsilateral radial artery cannulation or surgery. We avoided the use of over-sized sheaths or applied a sheathless approach during surgery. No ulnar artery occlusion was observed by subsequent Doppler ultrasound or pulse oximetry. No patient developed hand ischemia or serious complications requiring surgery or blood transfusion during the follow-up period of 32.2 ± 24.0 months. Review of the preprocedural forearm angiograms showed that 95.7% of the patients possessed significant collaterals supplying flow from the interosseous artery to the occluded radial artery remnant. Thus, the blood circulation to the palmar arch and digital vessels was maintained even when the ulnar artery was temporarily occluded by an in-dwelling ulnar arterial sheath.TU catheterization was safe in patients with coexisting ipsilateral radial artery occlusions and feasible for use in complex intervention procedures. Cautious manipulation of ulnar artery cannulation and hemostasis helped decrease the risk of hand ischemia.
Pain is often neglected in disabled older population, especially in Taiwan where the population of institutional residents is rapidly growing. Our study aimed to investigate pain prevalence and ...associated factors among institutional residents to improve pain assessment and management.
This nationwide study recruited 5,746 institutional residents in Taiwan between July 2019 and February 2020. Patient self-report was considered the most valid and reliable indicator of pain. A 5-point verbal rating scale was used to measure pain intensity, with a score ranging from 2 to 5 indicating the presence of pain. Associated factors with pain, including comorbidities, functional dependence, and quality of life, were also assessed.
The mean age of the residents was 77.1 ± 13.4 years, with 63.1% of them aged over 75 years. Overall, 40.3% of the residents reported pain, of whom 51.2% had moderate to severe pain. Pain was more common in residents with comorbidities and significantly impacted emotions and behavior problems, and the mean EQ5D score, which is a measure of health-related quality of life (p < .001). Interestingly, pain was only related to instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) and not activities of daily living (ADL). On the other hand, dementia was significantly negatively associated with pain (p < .001), with an estimated odds of 0.63 times (95% CI: 0.53-0.75) for the presence of pain when compared to residents who did not have dementia.
Unmanaged pain is common among institutional residents and is associated with comorbidities, IADL, emotional/behavioral problems, and health-related quality of life. Older residents may have lower odds of reporting pain due to difficulty communicating their pain, even through the use of a simple 5-point verbal rating scale. Therefore, more attention and effort should be directed towards improving pain evaluation in this vulnerable population .
This study evaluated the feasibility, safety, and prognostic outcome in patients with significant unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) disease undergoing stenting.
Between January 2010 and ...December 2012, totally 309 patients, including those with stable angina 13.9% (43/309), unstable angina 59.2% (183/309), acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) 24.3% (75/309), and post-STEMI angina (i.e., onset of STEMI<7 days) 2.6% (8/309) with significant ULMCA disease (>50%) undergoing stenting using transradial arterial approach, were consecutively enrolled. The patients' mean age was 68.9±10.8 yrs. Incidences of advance congestive heart failure (CHF) (defined as ≥ NYHA Fc 3) and multi-vessel disease were 16.5% (51/309) and 80.6% (249/309), respectively. Mechanical supports, including IABP for critical patients (defined as LVEF <35%, advanced CHF, or hemodynamically unstable) and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenator (ECMO) for hemodynamically collapsed patients, were utilized in 17.2% (53/309) and 2.6% (8/409) patients, respectively. Stent implantation was successfully performed in all patients. Thirty-day mortality rate was 4.5% (14/309) cardiac death: 2.9% (9/309) vs. non-cardiac death: 1.6% (5/309) without significant difference among four groups 2.3% (1) vs. 2.7% (5) vs. 9.3% (7) vs. 12.5% (1), p = 0.071. Multivariate analysis identified acute kidney injury (AKI) as the strongest independent predictor of 30-day mortality (p<0.0001), while body mass index (BMI) and white blood cell (WBC) count were independently predictive of 30-day mortality (p = 0.003 and 0.012, respectively).
Catheter-based LM stenting demonstrated high rates of procedural success and excellent 30-day clinical outcomes. AKI, BMI, and WBC count were significantly and independently predictive of 30-day mortality.
Although particular matter (PM) increases incidence and severity of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, the underlying mechanism remains elusive.
The effects of PM were evaluated in a murine model of ...bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis. Mice were divided into four groups, receiving: (1) Saline (control), (2) bleomycin, (3) PM, or (4) bleomycin plus PM (Bleo+PM). Additional groups of Bleo+PM mice were treated with sivelestat (an inhibitor of neutrophil elastase) or reparixin (a C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 2 antagonist), or were genetically modified with keratinocyte chemoattractant (KC) deletion.
Pulmonary fibrosis was not observed in the control or PM groups. Bleomycin induced pulmonary fibrosis within 14 days. The Bleo+PM group showed worse pulmonary fibrosis when compared to the bleomycin group. Analyses of immune cell profile and chemokine/cytokine concentrations at day 2-bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) revealed that the Bleo+PM group had increased neutrophil number and elastase level and KC concentration compared to the bleomycin group. Neutrophil elastase activated the Smad2/Smad3/α-SMA pathway to induce collagen deposition, while sivelestat abrogated the increased severity of pulmonary fibrosis caused by PM. Chemotaxis assay revealed that BALF of the Bleo+PM group recruited neutrophil, which was dependent on KC. Further, genetic KC deletion or pharmaceutical inhibition of KC binding to CXCR2 with reparixin ameliorated the PM-induced increased severity of pulmonary fibrosis.
These data provide evidence that the PM-induced increased severity of pulmonary fibrosis depends on KC-mediated neutrophil chemotaxis and give additional mechanic insight that will aid in the development of therapeutic strategies.
