We present a search for the lepton flavor violating decays B^{+}→K^{+}τ^{±}ℓ^{∓}, with ℓ=(e,μ), using the full data sample of 772×10^{6} BBover ¯ pairs recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB ...asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. We use events in which one B meson is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode. We find no evidence for B^{±}→K^{±}τℓ decays and set upper limits on their branching fractions at the 90% confidence level in the (1-3)×10^{-5} range. The obtained limits are the world's best results.
We report a measurement of the $C\!P$-violating parameters $A$ and $S$ in $B^{0}\to K_{S}^{0} \pi^{0}$ decays at Belle II using a sample of $387\times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ events recorded in ...$e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy corresponding to the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. These parameters are determined by fitting the proper decay-time distribution of a sample of 415 signal events. We obtain $A = 0.04^{+0.15}_{-0.14}\pm 0.05$ and $S = 0.75^{+0.20}_{-0.23}\pm 0.04$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.
We report on a search for a resonance X decaying to a pair of muons in e + e − → μ + μ − X events in the 0.212 – 9.000 GeV / c 2 mass range, using 178 fb − 1 of data collected by the Belle II ...experiment at the SuperKEKB collider at a center of mass energy of 10.58 GeV. The analysis probes two different models of X beyond the standard model: a Z ′ vector boson in the L μ − L τ model and a muonphilic scalar. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at the 90% confidence level on the products of cross section and branching fraction for these processes, ranging from 0.046 fb to 0.97 fb for the L μ − L τ model and from 0.055 fb to 1.3 fb for the muonphilic scalar model. For masses below 6 GeV / c 2 , the corresponding constraints on the couplings of these processes to the standard model range from 0.0008 to 0.039 for the L μ − L τ model and from 0.0018 to 0.040 for the muonphilic scalar model. These are the first constraints on the muonphilic scalar from a dedicated search. Published by the American Physical Society 2024
We present GFlaT, a new algorithm that uses a graph-neural-network to determine the flavor of neutral B mesons produced in ϒ ( 4 S ) decays. It improves previous algorithms by using the information ...from all charged final-state particles and the relations between them. We evaluate its performance using B decays to flavor-specific hadronic final states reconstructed in a 362 fb − 1 sample of electron-positron collisions collected at the ϒ ( 4 S ) resonance with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We achieve an effective tagging efficiency of ( 37.40 ± 0.43 ± 0.36 % ) , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic, which is 18% better than the previous Belle II algorithm. Demonstrating the algorithm, we use B 0 → J / ψ K S 0 decays to measure the mixing-induced and direct C P violation parameters, S = ( 0.724 ± 0.035 ± 0.009 ) and C = ( − 0.035 ± 0.026 ± 0.029 ) . We present the study of Bover ¯^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}pover ¯ decays based on 772×10^{6} BBover ¯ events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The ...Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++} candidates are reconstructed via their decay to Λ_{c}^{+}π^{∓} and Λ_{c}^{+} decays to pK^{-}π^{+}, pK_{S}^{0}, and Λπ^{+} final states. The corresponding branching fractions are measured to be B(Bover ¯^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+}pover ¯)=(1.09±0.06±0.07)×10^{-4} and B(Bover ¯^{0}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-}pover ¯)=(1.84±0.11±0.12)×10^{-4}, which are consistent with the world average values with improved precision. A new structure is found in the M_{Σ_{c}(2455)^{0,++}π^{±}} spectrum with a significance of 4.2σ including systematic uncertainty. The structure is possibly an excited Λ_{c}^{+} and is tentatively named Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}. Its mass and width are measured to be (2913.8±5.6±3.8) MeV/c^{2} and (51.8±20.0±18.8) MeV, respectively. The products of branching fractions for the Λ_{c}(2910)^{+} are measured to be B(Bover ¯^{0}→Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}pover ¯)×B(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{0}π^{+})=(9.5±3.6±1.6)×10^{-6} and B(Bover ¯^{0}→Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}pover ¯)×B(Λ_{c}(2910)^{+}→Σ_{c}(2455)^{++}π^{-})=(1.24±0.35±0.10)×10^{-5}. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
We report a measurement of decay-time-dependent charge-parity ( C P ) asymmetries in B 0 → K S 0 K S 0 K S 0 decays. We use 387 × 10 6 B B ¯ pairs collected at the ϒ ( 4 S ) resonance with the Belle ...II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. We reconstruct 220 signal events and extract the C P -violating parameters S and C from a fit to the distribution of the decay-time difference between the two B mesons. The resulting confidence region is consistent with previous measurements in B 0 → K S 0 K S 0 K S 0 and B 0 → ( c c ¯ ) K 0 decays and with predictions based on the standard model. We measure the branching fraction of the decay B − → D 0 ρ ( 770 ) − using data collected with the Belle II detector. The data contain 387 million B B ¯ pairs produced in e + e − collisions at the ϒ ...( 4 S ) resonance. We reconstruct 8360 ± 180 decays from an analysis of the distributions of the B − energy and the ρ ( 770 ) − helicity angle. We determine the branching fraction to be ( 0.939 ± 0.021 ( stat ) ± 0.050 ( syst ) ) % , in agreement with previous results. We present the first comprehensive tests of light-lepton universality in the angular distributions of semileptonic $B^0$-meson decays to charged spin-1 charmed mesons. We measure five ...angular-asymmetry observables as functions of the decay recoil that are sensitive to lepton-universality-violating contributions. We use events where one neutral $B$ is fully reconstructed in $\Upsilon\left(4S\right)\to{}B \overline{B}$ decays in data corresponding to $189~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ integrated luminosity from electron-positron collisions collected with the Belle II detector. We find no significant deviation from the standard model expectations.
We measure the tau-to-light-lepton ratio of inclusive B -meson branching fractions R ( X τ / ℓ ) ≡ B ( B → X τ ν ) / B ( B → X ℓ ν ) , where ℓ indicates an electron or muon, and thereby test the ...universality of charged-current weak interactions. We select events that have one fully reconstructed B meson and a charged lepton candidate from 189 fb − 1 of electron-positron collision data collected with the Belle II detector. We find R ( X τ / ℓ ) = 0.228 ± 0.016 ( stat ) ± 0.036 ( syst ) , in agreement with standard-model expectations. This is the first direct measurement of R ( X τ / ℓ ) . We search for the rare decay B + → K + ν ν ¯ in a 362 fb − 1 sample of electron-positron collisions at the ϒ ( 4 S ) resonance collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We use ...the inclusive properties of the accompanying B meson in ϒ ( 4 S ) → B B ¯ events to suppress background from other decays of the signal B candidate and light-quark pair production. We validate the measurement with an auxiliary analysis based on a conventional hadronic reconstruction of the accompanying B meson. For background suppression, we exploit distinct signal features using machine learning methods tuned with simulated data. The signal-reconstruction efficiency and background suppression are validated through various control channels. The branching fraction is extracted in a maximum likelihood fit. Our inclusive and hadronic analyses yield consistent results for the B + → K + ν ν ¯ branching fraction of 2.7 ± 0.5 ( stat ) ± 0.5 ( syst ) × 10 − 5 and 1.1 − 0.8 + 0.9 ( stat ) − 0.5 + 0.8 ( syst ) × 10 − 5 , respectively. Combining the results, we determine the branching fraction of the decay B + → K + ν ν ¯ to be 2.3 ± 0.5 ( stat ) − 0.4 + 0.5 ( syst ) × 10 − 5 , providing the first evidence for this decay at 3.5 standard deviations. The combined result is 2.7 standard deviations above the standard model expectation. Published by the American Physical Society 2024
