The growing demand for fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) in industrial applications has prompted the exploration of natural fiber-based composites as a viable alternative to synthetic fibers. Using ...jute–rattan fiber-reinforced composite offers the potential for environmentally sustainable waste material decomposition and cost reduction compared to conventional fiber materials. This article focuses on the impact of different machining constraints on surface roughness and delamination during the drilling process of the jute–rattan FRP composite. Inspired by this unexplored research area, this article emphasizes the influence of various machining constraints on surface roughness and delamination in drilling jute–rattan FRP composite. Response surface methodology designs the experiment using drill bit material, spindle speed, and feed rate as input variables to measure surface roughness and delamination factors. The technique of order of preference by similarity to the ideal solution method is used to optimize the machining parameters, and for predicting surface roughness and delamination, two machine learning-based models named random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) are utilized. To evaluate the accuracy of the predicted values, the correlation coefficient (R2), mean absolute percentage error, and mean squared error were used. RF performed better in comparison with SVM, with a higher value of R2 for both testing and training datasets, which is 0.997, 0.981, and 0.985 for surface roughness, entry delamination, and exit delamination, respectively. Hence, this study presents an innovative methodology for predicting surface roughness and delamination through machine learning techniques.
We propose an elementary circular-shaped plasmonic biosensor based on photonic crystal fiber for multiple blood component identification in near-infrared and visible spectrum. To the best of our ...knowledge, this is the first paper where plasmonic biosensor is proposed to determine blood components for near-infrared and visible spectrum region using comparative amplitude sensitivity (AS) as the sensitivity parameter. Here we consider Al-doped ZnO as plasmonic material to attain improved sensor performance and extensible design. The finite element method is adopted throughout the numerical study. Observations made using optimum parameters have led to investigations regarding resonance quality, sensitivity, sensor resolution, sensor length and figure of merit (FOM). Anti-Parkinson drugs like dopamine (DA) agonists, levodopa, carbidopa, monoamine oxidase type B inhibitors and anticholinergics are used to replace DA in the current treatment model. Surgery is advised in cases where drug therapy is ineffective. Unfortunately, the current conventional treatments for PD have a number of harmful side effects and are expensive. As a result, new therapeutic strategies that control the mechanisms that contribute to neuronal death and dysfunction must be addressed. Natural resources have long been a useful source of possible treatments. PD can be treated with a variety of natural therapies made from medicinal herbs, fruits, and vegetables. In addition to their well-known anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory capabilities, these natural products also play inhibitory roles in iron buildup, protein misfolding, the maintenance of proteasomal breakdown, mitochondrial homeostasis, and other neuroprotective processes. The goal of this research is to systematically characterize the currently available medications for Parkinson’s and their therapeutic effects, which target diverse pathways. Overall, this analysis looks at the kinds of natural things that could be used in the future to treat PD in new ways or as supplements to existing treatments. We looked at the medicinal plants that can be used to treat PD. The use of natural remedies, especially those derived from plants, to treat PD has been on the rise. This would be more effective if collaboration took place between governments, researchers, clinicians, and traditional medicine practitioners' safe and effective therapeutic research. Neurotrophins and neuropeptides are the essential regulators of peripheral nociceptive nerves that help to induce, sensitize, and maintain pain. Neuropeptide has a neuroprotective impact as it ...increases trophic support, regulates calcium homeostasis, and reduces excitotoxicity and neuroinflammation. In contrast, neurotrophins target neurons afflicted by ischemia, epilepsy, depression, and eating disorders, among other neuropsychiatric conditions. Neurotrophins are reported to inhibit neuronal death. Strategies maintained for “brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) therapies” are to upregulate BDNF levels using the delivery of protein and genes or compounds that target BDNF production and boosting BDNF signals by expanding with BDNF mimetics. This review discusses the mechanisms of neurotrophins and neuropeptides against acute neural damage as well as highlighting neuropeptides as a potential therapeutic agent against Parkinson’s disease (PD), Huntington’s disease (HD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and Machado–Joseph disease (MJD), the signaling pathways affected by neurotrophins and their receptors in both standard and diseased CNS systems, and future perspectives that can lead to the potent application of neurotrophins and neuropeptides in neurodegenerative diseases (NDs).

SARS-CoV-2 was first discovered in Wuhan in late 2019 and has since spread over the world, resulting in the present epidemic. Because targeted therapeutics are unavailable, scientists have the ...opportunity to discover new drugs or vaccines to counter COVID-19, and therefore a number of synthetic bioactive compounds are now being tested in clinical studies. Due to its broad therapeutic spectrum and low adverse effects, medicinal herbs have been used as traditional healing medication in those countries for ages. Due to a lack of synthetic bioactive antiviral medications, pharmaceutical and alternative therapies have been developed using a variety of herbal compositions. Due to the widespread availability of herbal and dietary products worldwide, people frequently use them. Notably, the majority of Bangladeshi people continue to use a variety of natural plants and herbs to treat various types of diseases. This review article discusses how previous research has shown that some herbs in Bangladesh have immunomodulatory and antiviral effects and how their active ingredients have been gathered. Even though FDA-approved medications and vaccines are available for the treatment of COVID-19, the purpose is to encourage the use of herbal medicine as immunomodulators and vaccine adjuvants for the treatment of COVID-19 prevention.
With the advances in electromyography-based human–computer interaction, particularly in myoelectric prosthetic hands, the position of electromyography electrodes has gained less attention from ...researchers. However, the performance of hand movement recognition significantly varies with the change of electrode position around the forearm muscles and along the length of the forearm muscles. To find the robust position on the forearm, this study performs a comprehensive and systematic investigation of the feasibility of hand movement recognition using electromyogram (EMG) signals concurrently recorded for sixteen electrode arrays on the forearm. The obtained results indicate that the electrode array placed on the middle of the extensor digitorum communis and extensor digiti minimi performs better than other electrode positions around the forearm. In addition, multiple electrode arrays placed near to elbow joint achieve a significantly higher signal to noise ratio and signal to movement artifact ratio. In addition to improved EMG signal quality, the recommended positions on the forearm significantly overperform in hand movement recognition and it is validated with five well-known feature extraction methods, various window sizes, and three classification algorithms. In this study, the electrode arrays near to elbow joint on the forearm achieve an F1 score of 98.28% to 98.80% with a linear discriminant analysis classifier. Therefore, this study clearly demonstrates the feasibility of recommended forearm positions for hand movement recognition. As these electrode positions are near to elbow joint, so, it is expected that these positions will be available in most amputees and utilized for improved hand movement recognition.
