We observed the influence of irrigating inside of the periodontal pockets with cetylpyridinium chloride using an Air-jet irrigator in the initial preparation phase by examining clinical parameters ...and bacterial flora in the periodontal pockets of patients with periodontal disease. Early improvements in Plaque index, Gingival index, Probing depth and Attachment level, as clinical features, and in Periocheck ®, as bacteriological findings, were obtained in the Air-jet group as compared to the control group treated with the initial preparation alone. There were no significant differences in Bleeding on Probing between these two groups. These results suggest that the concomitant use of the Air-jet irrigator in the initial preparation phase may reduce bacterial flora in the periodontal pockets and contribute to subsequent improvement of clinical symptoms.

Feces from normal adult female quails were investigated for microflora once a week for a period of 4 weeks, and the birds sacrificed at 4 weeks were examined for the intestinal microflora. The total ...numbers of facultatively anaerobic or anaerobic bacteria were 10(7.1) to 10(8.9)/g feces, with the predominance of Streptococcus (including Enterococcus), Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Eubacterium, and Peptococcaceae. The numbers of each bacterial group fluctuated only within a small range (10(3)-fold), except for Clostridium yeast and Bacteroidaceae. The total numbers of facultatively anaerobic and anaerobic bacteria in the intestine were 10(5.9) to 10(9.0)/g, being smaller in the upper intestine. Streptococcus (including Enterococcus), Lactobacillus, and Peptococcaceae were the main bacteria found in the intestine. The numbers of microorganisms in the cecum and rectum were correlated to those in feces
Technique of image processing to detect moving objects on time series images is important subject in the fields of environmental monitoring and rescue system which used a mobile robot. In the past, ...it is difficult to detect the moving objects by the effects of changes in brightness which caused by the sunlight and measure positions of the moving objects by the change of region of the moving objects. Then, we proposed a detection and tracking method of the moving objects considering the renewal of a background based on radial reach filter. However, the change of size of the moving objects on the image, that is, the movement in direction of an optical axis was not considered. Then, we propose a method which compares the features of pixels between the images in the change of size of moving object for calculation of motion vectors. Through the experiment using the real images, this paper shows validity of proposed method
