MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are the recently discovered small non-coding RNA molecules that have post-transcriptional regulatory functions in many important biological processes. A large number of miRNAs have ...been found to be encoded by viral genomes, especially in herpesviruses. Previous research regarding miRNAs encoded by herpesviruses, including Marek's disease virus (MDV), has demonstrated their involvement in lytic replication, latent infection, T-lymphocyte transformation and tumorigenesis. MDV is an oncogenic alphaherpesvirus, with the ability to induce tumors in natural hosts; however, formation of these tumors can be prevented by immunization with attenuated or nonpathogenic forms of the virus. Marek's disease is considered to be a good biomedical model for investigating the biology, genetics, and immunology of tumorigenesis. In this paper, we review the discovery and identification of MDV-encoded miRNAs, along with their genomics, expression profiles, and currently known functions. We also discuss the prospects and techniques possibly applicable to the further investigation of the biological roles of MDV-encoded miRNAs.
Surface coating is a useful strategy to enhance the cycling stability of cathode materials. Achieving superior rate capability at the same time, however, is still a challenge. In this work, the ...zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), one of metal-organic framework material, is initially coated on the surface of LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 (NCM333). After ZIF-8 coating, the cycling stability and rate capability of NCM333@ZIF-8 are simultaneously improved in comparison with that of NCM333. A high capacity retention ratio of 81.4% is achieved after 300 cycles at 800 mA g−1, which is much larger than that of NCM333 (41.2%). Even at an elevated temperature (55 °C), the cycling stability of NCM333@ZIF-8 is still excellent. In addition, a high capacity of 122 mA h g−1 is obtained at a high current density of 1200 mA g−1. The enhanced performances are highly related with the unique properties of permanent porosity, exceptional thermal and chemical stability and the high ionic conductivity (3.16 × 10−4 S cm−1) of ZIF-8 that not only acts as a shield for NCM333 against the electrolyte corrosion, but also enables faster lithium-ion transfer at the interfacial regions. The current work offers guidance for improving the overall electrochemical performance of electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries.

Fermented dairy products (FDPs) are made from raw milk under the action of specific microorganisms by lactic acid bacteria fermentation or co-fermentation of lactic acid bacteria, bifidobacteria, and ...yeast. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of FDPs on inflammatory biomarkers.
A comprehensive search was conducted on four electronic databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library. Finally, fourteen trials (15 arms) were included in this meta-analysis: yogurt (n = 9), fermented milk (n = 4), and kefir (n = 2). Additionally, the random effects model or fixed-effects model was used to pool the study results. Firstly, the analysis indicated that FDPs’ supplementation decreased the levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) (SMD = −0.21; 95% CI: −0.40, −0.02; P = 0.033) and increased interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) levels (SMD = 0.12; 95% CI: 0.01, 0.23; P = 0.033). Furthermore, we obtained some statistically significant results in the following subgroups: CRP decreased in participants with metabolic diseases. IFN-γ increased in the intervention that lasted ≥12 weeks, Asian, yogurt, and healthy population. Finally, there was no significant effect on tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, and IL-2.
FDPs reduced CRP and increased IFN-γ, but they had no effect on other inflammatory markers. The results showed that the consumption of FDPs was slightly associated with reduced inflammation, but because of the limited literature, these results should be interpreted with caution.
•FDPs reduced CRP and increased IFN-γ levels.•FDPs may be an alternative food therapy to improve inflammation.•This is the first meta-analysis to assess the effects of FDPs on inflammation.

For achieving the goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, developing hydrogen energy, the green and clean energy, shows a promising perspective for solving the ...energy and ecological issues. Herein, firstly, we used the hydrothermal method to synthesize the ZnS(en)sub.0.5 as the precursor. Then, ZnS/ZnO composite was obtained by the in situ transformation of ZnS(en)sub.0.5 with heat treatment under air atmosphere. The composition, optical property, morphology, and structural properties of the composite were characterized by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra (Uv-vis Abs), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Transmission electron microscopy image (TEM). Moreover, the content of ZnO in ZnS/ZnO was controlled via adjustment of the calcination times. The visible-light response of ZnS/ZnO originated from the in situ doping of N during the transformation of ZnS(en)sub.0.5 to ZnS/ZnO under heat treatment, which was verified well by XPS. Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution experiments demonstrated that the sample of ZnS/ZnO-0.5 h with 6.9 wt% of ZnO had the best Hsub.2 evolution activity (1790 μmol/h/g) under visible light irradiation (λ > 400 nm), about 7.0 and 12.3 times that of the pure ZnS and ZnO, respectively. The enhanced activities of the ZnS/ZnO composites were ascribed to the intimated hetero-interface between components and efficient transfer of photo-generated electrons from ZnS to ZnO.
Constructing Li‐rich Mn‐based layered oxide (LMRO) assembled microspheres with fast kinetics and a stable surface will significantly improve discharge capacity and cyclic stability. In this work, a ...heat‐treatment‐assisted (HA) molten‐salt (MS) strategy has been designed to prepare LMRO assembled microspheres HA‐MS‐LMRO (LMRO with heat‐treatment‐assisted molten‐salt process). Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that HA‐MS‐LMRO possesses superior performance as a cathode for lithium‐ion batteries. It delivers an initial discharge capacity of 181 mA h g−1 at 200 mA g−1, which is much higher than that of the LMRO (145 mA h g−1). After 100 cycles, the capacity retention ratio for HA‐MS‐LMRO is 74.69 %, which is far larger than that of LMRO (23.06 %). Detailed analysis of the structure, valence state, and electrochemical impedance spectra shows that the heat‐treatment‐assisted molten‐salt process plays an important role in the excellent performance of HA‐MS‐LMRO. The HA process enables the transition‐metal ions in the synthesized samples to have stable surface valence states, which is conducive to maintaining structural stability and improving cycling performance. The following MS process facilitates the movement of lithium salt into the interior of the assembled microsphere precursors to prohibit the formation of lithium‐containing amorphous compounds on the surface during the lithiation process, thus enhancing the Li‐ion kinetics and increasing the initial discharge capacity. The current work provides guidance to promote the electrochemical performances of assembled microsphere cathode materials.
Smart strategy: A heat‐treatment‐assisted (HA) molten‐salt (MS) strategy was combined with a solvothermal route to prepare Li‐rich Mn‐based layered oxide (LMRO) assembled microspheres (HA‐MS‐LMRO). The smart strategy endows HA‐MS‐LMRO with faster Li‐ion kinetics and stable surface valence states of the transition‐metal ions, which lead to superior electrochemical performance (see figure; HA‐LMRO=LMRO with heat‐treatment‐assisted process, MS‐LMRO=LMRO with molten‐salt process).
Background
Lymphatic metastatic size was proved to predict prognosis in different types of carcinomas, except in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) located in hypopharynx, oropharynx and ...supraglottic region et al. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prognostic value of lymphatic metastatic size in HNSCC, which may guide clinical decision-making in practice.
Methods
From 2008 to 2022, 171 patients, who were diagnosed as HNSCC in our center, were included. The demographic data, clinicopathological characteristics and lymphatic metastatic size were recorded and analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier method and Cox regression analysis.
Results
Among 171 patients, 107 cases were hypopharyngeal cancer, 38 cases supraglottic cancer and 26 cases oropharyngeal cancer. The median of lymphatic metastatic size was 8 mm (range 0–46). According to lymphatic metastatic size, the patients were assigned to three subgroups: Group I (0 mm), Group II ( ≤ 10 mm) and Group III (> 10 mm). Kaplan–Meier analysis with log rank test revealed that Group I and Group II had similar locoregional control rate, distant metastasis free probability, disease-free survival and overall survival (all
p
> 0.05), whereas Group III had significant worse prognosis. Adjusted for demographic and other clinicopathological characteristics, lymphatic metastatic size was an independent predictor of disease-free survival and overall survival in HNSCC.
Conclusions
Lymphatic metastatic size was an independently prognostic factor in HNSCC, which may assist in postoperative adjuvant treatment decisions.

Background: An ESBL, carbapenemase- and MCR-1-producing Escherichia coli ST648 strain was isolated from the urine sample of a patient in a Chinese tertiary hospital in 2016. Methods: The strain was ...fully sequenced by GridION X5 platform of Oxford Nanopore Technology. Results: The sequence analysis showed that the extended-spectrum beta-lactamases CTX-M-65 and OXA-1, the carbapenemase NDM-5, the MCR-1 were encoded, respectively, by three different resistance plasmids. The pE648CTX-M-65-carrying b/a.sub.CTX-M-65 was a novel conjugative plasmid belonging to IncHI2 type; except for the b/a.sub.CTX-M-65, it also carried resistance genes ble, floR, sull, aph(4)-Ia, aac(3)-VI, aac(6')-II, bla.sub.OXA-1, catB, arr3 and tetA. Besides, an IncX4 plasmid pE648MCR-1-carrying mcr-1 and an IncX3 plasmid pE648NDM-5-carrying bla.sub.NDM-5 were also identified. Conclusion: The three transferable resistance plasmids coexisting in the E. coli ST648 isolate indicated the high risk to disseminate the extensively-drug-resistance among Enterobacteriaceae. The increasing prevalence of mental illness has resulted in a growing burden on informal caregivers. Mindfulness-based interventions, as a form of psychotherapy, have shown efficacy in alleviating ...psychological stress and enhancing emotional and physical well-being. However, the utilisation of mindfulness-based interventions for informal caregivers of individuals with mental illness remains limited. The aim of the meta-analysis is to evaluate the impact of mindfulness-based interventions on the mental health and well-being among informal caregivers of people with mental illness. A comprehensive literature search was conducted across seven electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, APA PsycINFO and CINAHL Ultimate) from the inception of these databases until 20 July 2023. Two authors independently screened the studies and extracted the relevant data. The meta-analysis was performed by using Stata 12.0 software, and the effect sizes were calculated utilising standardised mean difference (SMD) along with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI). The meta-analysis included 13 studies with 1007 participants, and the results demonstrated that mindfulness-based interventions were efficacious in reducing stress (SMD = -0.80, 95% CI -1.33, -0.28, p = 0.003), depression (SMD = -0.43, 95% CI -0.62, -0.24, p < 0.001) and caregiver burden (SMD = -0.21, 95% CI -0.40, -0.01, p = 0.038), and enhancing the mindfulness level (SMD = 0.37, 95% CI 0.09, 0.65, P = 0.010) and quality of life (SMD = 0.22, 95% CI 0.04, 0.39, p = 0.015) among informal caregivers of people with mental illness, but not on anxiety reduction (SMD = -0.19, 95% CI -0.49, 0.10, p = 0.198). Furthermore, future research should aim to employ more rigorous methodologies to confirm the effectiveness.
