There are two rubber feet that help, combined with a shockmount built around the condenser capsule, to remove vibrations and noise. ...a main rotary controls both the input monitoring level and that ...from the computer. Use the supplied instrument cable to plug in a keyboard or guitar, and that sits on one channel while the main mic goes on the other channel - as expected, this is ideal for singer-songwriters.
Synplant 2 has more purpose, then, and more power. Possibly not, but you absolutely would and should use it to create the most interesting sounds for them. cm The lo-fi effects are welcome additins, ...offering mechanical tape noise for your 'too clean' surroundings The DNA editor There's a new DNA editor in Synplant 2 which gives you a more visual overview of the innards of Synplant. Click on the central part of the helix and you reveal the oscillator parameters, all adjustable with graphic displays altering as you dial parameters.
Quadral 3 is the company's latest title, an instrument that packs in an impressive set of dramatic sounds - with plenty of control over them - yet retails for barely the price of a simple plugin ...effect. The X-Y pad features around it enable you to morph between your chosen four sounds automatically or via MIDI CC, so you can easily blend two together with, say, your mod wheel. Across the board in the Arps, Bass, Leads, Pads, Plucks and FX folders, you will typically find something moving from left to right or from top to bottom, either fading between the four layers or controlling effects, vibrato, panning anda lot more.
If this isn't switched on, the 3rd Wave oscillator just generates sound from a single cycle, but once on, you specify the time, range, position and more, so can determine how the wavetable is used ...for dynamic sound creation. There's almost a control per function, so press a button to select an oscillator, edit your envelope on the (amazing) screen with the dials around it, and use dedicated dials for your timing and position. Select which of the three oscillators you want to change, and then dial through and choose from the 34 original PPG wavetables, 48 new wavetables (including Buchlas, Fairlights, ARPs and bells), or seven analogue waves (square, supersaw, noise etc) via rotaries and screen. PPG OLD OR NEW, YOU DECIDE Wolfgang Palm launched PPG in the late 70s - with a mission to move away from the constraints of the analogue oscillator by using single-cycle digital waveforms that could then be scanned as wavetables - and a new strand of synthesis was born that can be traced up to the Serums and Pigments of today. 3rd Wave is attempting to be the PPG of 2024, upping the specs from the final 1987 PPG2.3 model (which only had 8-voice polyphony, for example), but still features 34 classic wavetables based on the 8-bit wavetables from the PPG2.2 and 2.3.
...really, in actual fact, KingKorg Neo shouldn't be considered as a member of this particular gang, as it is actually a follow-up to Korg's original and bigger KingKorg, released back in 2013, and a ...synth that did well - or eventually well enough to result in this update - even though it was a VA released on the cusp of the analogue synth revival. ...the three screens also impart the important details: oscillator type (again); filter type, which you have to step through with the button beneath; and the main screen which highlights data values when you twist a dial, or preset names. The effects section is the most easy-to-use, as it takes up an inordinate amount of room, with three selectable effect types, with their six options on large dials, and five parameters covering the three parts on smaller dials beneath. (The original KingKorg had an analogue valve bolted on for some extra colour, but that somewhat gimmicky extra has now gone.) The reverbs and delays are also instant and easy to edit, and while it does not offer perhaps as many effects as For that £949 price tag you could consider getting a true analogue synth or two some processor-loadingsoftsynths do these days, that hands-on control over them is so well implemented, with often such varying results, that you will end up using them a lot. ...this shows up the performance side of Neo well - it is a good synth in this regard, with a broad range of sounds for live shows.
...how can it possibly be worth that length of waiting time? Like the original - although it was such a long time ago, we had a hard time tracking down the review - you get both Sound Control and ...Sequencer sections of the Ul, but updates within these are so many and varied and such a long time after the original, we might as well focus on 2 as a new instrument and run through its features, of which there are many. Just the ability to focus on different drum sounds and stretch them massively in any direction will change the way you program your beats.
Some of Spitfire Audio's finest libraries are within its Albion series, and luckily, it's realised the significance of the series and has relaunched the first of its three titles, Legacy, Loegria and ...Iceni - recorded at AIR Studios - at £199 each (half the original price). Stephenson's Steam Band is especially nice for pads and drones, for example. Time team If recorded well, piano and orchestral libraries can last forever, we regularly recommend certain titles from decades ago!
Ducking reduces the reverb effect according to the input signal so you can get some lovely and instant contemporary pumping effects applied to the effect rather than the more common and well-used ...volume. While you can't go in and change any parameters - it's more about simply adjusting the level of the effect by way of the dial - there's a huge amount of variety on offer here. ...talking of which, even more can be created by hitting the 'Surprise' button, where random values apply to the main dials and all drop-down options to create - in the main -some very usable verbs, the extremes of which are defined by the right hand dial.
A transducer would be placed on the plate, often in different locations but mostly centrally, introducing sound waves into the system, and the resulting reverberated vibrations would be picked up and ...amplified. ...much so that Abbey Road Studios (then EMI) snapped up four of them and the 140 sound would eventually end up being used by the stars of the day including The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys and Pink Floyd - indeed, Floyd engineer Alan Parsons claims that the 140 was the only reverb used on Dark Side of the Moon. Kush Audio says its GoldPlate will challenge anyone who thinks an algorithmic reverb can't match the "density and lushness of a 600-pound metal plate driven by tubes". ...another boutique company, Pluto Plate, has produced plate reverbs at around the same size as the original. ...our advice overall is to stick with the software route if you want that EMT sound - it will be much less strain on your bank balance and biceps.
