Effect of sericea lespedeza SL; Lespedeza cuneata (Dum-Cours.) G. Don. leaf meal feeding was evaluated in two experiments in indoor reared goats with experimental infection of Haemonchus contortus ...larvae. In the first experiment, ten 8–10 month old male Spanish and Alpine cross kids pair matched for body weight and age were fed SL or bermudagrass BG; Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. hay one week before infection and were infected with 5000 H. contortus L3. The animals were maintained on the same diet for the remaining period and were slaughtered 28 days post-infection (DPI) to determine the establishment of incoming infective larvae. Goats fed SL had lower establishment (P<0.05) of H. contortus larvae than that of the control goats fed BG hay. In the second experiment, twenty-five 8–10 months old male Alpine cross, Saanen, Nubian×Saanen and Spanish kids reared in confinement on BG were experimentally infected with 5000 H. contortus L3. On 35 DPI, the animals were allocated to two groups after blocking by fecal egg count (FEC), and one group was fed SL leaf meal (n=13), and another control group remained on BG (n=12). Four goats/group were slaughtered successively on days 7, 14, and 28 days post SL feeding, except on day 7, when five SL fed goats were slaughtered. Fecal egg counts and blood packed cell volume (PCV) were measured at weekly intervals and worm count, female worm fecundity, worm length and mucosal eosinophils, mast cells and globule leucocytes were measured after slaughter. Goats fed SL had a lower FEC (P<0.05) one week after feeding, as compared to those fed on BG, and the values remained at low level thereafter. Similarly, PCV was also significantly affected by feeding (P<0.01), and feeding and time interaction (P<0.05). However, worm burden, female worm fecundity, parasite length, and mucosal inflammatory cell count were similar between the groups. Feeding SL reduced the establishment of infective larvae and FEC of H. contortus in experimental studies and this plant could be used for biological control of parasite infection under field conditions to limit the harmful effects of the parasites in goats.
PowerVia Technology 1 is a novel innovation to extend Moore's Law scaling by having Power Delivery on the backside. This paper presents the pre & post-silicon findings from implementing an Intel ...E-Core in PowerVia Technology. PowerVia enabled standard cell utilization of >90% in large areas of the core while showing >5% Frequency benefit in Silicon due to reduced IR drop. Successful Post-Silicon debug is demonstrated with slightly higher but acceptable throughput times. The thermal characteristic of the PowerVia test-chip is in line with higher power densities expected from logic scaling.

Our research revealed 15 distinct clusters representing different populations of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), immune cells, pericytes, ameloblasts and endothelial cells. We documented heterogeneity in gene expression across different subpopulations of MSCs, a good indicator that these stromal progenitors undergo different phases of osteogenic differentiation. Static gamma-ray detector systems that are deployed outdoors for radiological monitoring purposes experience time-varying and spatially varying natural backgrounds and encounters with man-made ...nuisance sources. In order to be sensitive to illicit sources, such systems must be able to distinguish those sources from benign variations due to, e.g., weather and human activity. In addition to fluctuations due to non-threats, each detector has its own response and energy resolution, so providing a large network of detectors with predetermined background and source templates can be an onerous task. Instead, we propose that static detectors use simple physics-informed algorithms to automatically learn the background and nuisance source signatures, which can them be used to bootstrap and feed into more complex algorithms. Specifically, we show that non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) can be used to distinguish static background from the effects of increased concentrations of radon progeny due to rainfall. We also show that a simple process of using multiple gross count rate filters can be used in real time to classify or "triage" spectra according to whether they belong to static, rain, or anomalous categories for processing with other algorithms. If a rain sensor is available, we propose a method to incorporate that signal as well. Two clustering methods for anomalous spectra are proposed, one using Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergence and the other using regularized NMF, with the goal of finding clusters of similar spectral anomalies that can be used to build anomaly templates. Finally, we describe the issues involved in the implementation of some of these algorithms on deployed sensor nodes, including the need to monitor the background models for long-term drifting due to physical changes in the environment or changes in detector performance.

) ratios in Nile tilapia for six commercial traits. The study included observations on 2524 offspring from 155 full-sib families. Substantial contributions of dominance were observed (P < 0.05) for body depth (BD) and body weight at harvest (BWH) with estimates of d
= 0.27 (s.e. 0.09) and 0.23 (s.e. 0.09), respectively in the current breeding population. In addition the study found maternal variance (P < 0.05) for BD, BWH, body thickness and fillet weight explaining ~10% of the observed phenotypic variance. For fillet yield (FY) and body length (BL), no evidence was found for either maternal or dominance variance. For traits exhibiting maternal variance, including this effect in evaluations caused substantial re-ranking of selection candidates, but the impact of including dominance effects was notably less. Breeding schemes may benefit from utilising maternal variance in increasing accuracy of evaluations, reducing bias, and developing new lines, but the utilisation of the dominance variance may require further refinement of parameter estimates.

We report evidence for a narrow structure, X(5568), in the decay sequence X(5568) -> B-s(0)pi(+/-), B-s(0) -> J/psi phi, J/psi -> mu(+)mu(-), phi -> K+K-. This is evidence for the first ...instance of a hadronic state with valence quarks of four different flavors. The mass and natural width of this state are measured to be m = 5567.8 +/- 2.9(stat)(-1.9)(+0.9) (syst) MeV/c(2) and Gamma = 21.9 +/- 6.4(stat)(-2.5)(+5.0) (syst) MeV/c(2). If the decay is X(5568) -> B-s*pi(+/-). B-s(0)gamma pi(+/-) with an unseen gamma, m(X(5568)) will be shifted up by m(B-s*) - m(B-s(0)) similar to 49 MeV/c(2). This measurement is based on 10.4 fb(-1) of p (p) over bar collision data at root s = 1.96 TeV collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

For sufficiently wide resonances, nuclear resonance fluorescence behaves like elastic photo-nuclear scattering while retaining the large cross-section characteristic of resonant photo-nuclear ...absorption. We show that NRF may be used to characterize the signals produced by low-energy nuclear recoils by serving as a novel source of tagged low-energy nuclear recoils. Understanding these signals is important in determining the sensitivity of direct WIMP dark-matter and coherent neutrino-nucleus scattering searches.
We present evidence for the exotic charged charmoniumlike state Zc±(3900) decaying to J/ψπ± in semi-inclusive weak decays of b-flavored hadrons. The signal is correlated with a parent J/ψπ+π− system ...in the invariant-mass range 4.2–4.7 GeV that would include the exotic structure Y(4260). The study is based on 10.4 fb−1 of pp¯ collision data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.
