We investigate theoretically electron transfer in a double dot in a situation where spin blockade is lifted by nuclear magnetic field: this has been recently achieved in experiment F. Koppens, ...Science 309, 1346 (2005). We show that for a given realization of nuclear magnetic field spin blockade can be restored by tuning external magnetic field; this may be useful for quantum manipulation of the device.
In a variety of mesoscopic systems shot noise is seen to be suppressed in comparison with its Poisson value. In this work we observe a considerable enhancement of shot noise in the case of resonant ...tunneling via localized states. We present a model of correlated transport through two localized states which provides both a qualitative and a quantitative description of this effect.
The measurements of the Collins and Sivers asymmetries of identified hadrons produced in deep-inelastic scattering of 160 GeV/c muons on a transversely polarised 6LiD target at COMPASS are presented. ...The results for charged pions and charged and neutral kaons correspond to all data available, which were collected from 2002 to 2004. For all final state particles both, the Collins and Sivers asymmetries turn out to be small, compatible with zero within the statistical errors, in line with the previously published results for not identified charged hadrons, and with the expected cancellation between the u- and d-quark contributions.
We propose to accelerate reversal of the ferromagnetic order parameter in spin valves by electronic noise. By solving the stochastic equations of motion we show that the current-induced magnetization ...switching time is drastically reduced by a modest level of externally generated current (voltage) noise. This also leads to a significantly lower power consumption for the switching process.
The longitudinal double spin asymmetry A1ρ for exclusive leptoproduction of ρ0 mesons, μ+N→μ+N+ρ, is studied using the COMPASS 2002 and 2003 data. The measured reaction is incoherent exclusive ρ0 ...production on polarised deuterons. The Q2 and x dependence of A1ρ is presented in a wide kinematical range, 3×10-3<Q2< 7 (GeV/c)2 and 5×10-5<x<0.05. The results presented are the first measurements of A1ρ at small Q2 (Q2< 0.1 (GeV/c)2) and small x (x<3×10-3). The asymmetry is in general compatible with zero in the whole kinematical range.

We describe the design, construction, and performance of the upgraded DØ
muon system for Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Significant improvements have been made to the major subsystems of ...the DØ
muon detector: trigger scintillation counters, tracking detectors, and electronics. The Run II central muon detector has a new scintillation counter system inside the iron toroid and an improved scintillation counter system outside the iron toroid. In the forward region, new scintillation counter and tracking systems have been installed. Extensive shielding has been added in the forward region. A large fraction of the muon system electronics is also new.
