The draw and diversity of the destination’s offer is an antecedent of the tourism visits growth. The destination supply differentiation is carried through new, specialised tourism products. The usual ...approach consists of forming specialised tourism products in accordance with the existing tourism destination image. Another approach, prevalent in practice of developed tourism destinations is based on innovating the destination supply through accordance with the global tourism trends. For this particular purpose, it is advisable to choose a monitoring and analysis method of tourism trends. The goal is to determine actual trends governing target markets, differentiating whims from trends during the tourism preseason. When considering the return on investment, modifying the destination’s tourism offer on the basis of a tourism whim is a risky endeavour, indeed. Adapting the destination’s supply to tourism whims can result in a shifted image, one that is unable to ensure a long term interest and tourist vacation growth. With regard to tourism trend research and based on the research conducted, an advisable model for evaluating tourism phenomena is proposed, one that determines whether tourism phenomena is a tourism trend or a tourism whim.
Throughout its millennial history, humanity has been confronted with numerous infectious diseases and even global pandemics since time immemorial, with an insufficient level of health culture. Among ...the most famous and most terrible pandemics, the source and focus of which was most often in the Far East with a low health culture were pandemics of leprosy, plague, smallpox, cholera, tuberculosis, malaria, and the latest pandemic Corona virus SARS cov-2 covid-19 They also aff ected our region and Dalmatia, which has always had extensive communications throughout the Mediterranean and the world. Half a billion people or 2/3 of the inhabitants of Europe and its recurrences are recorded until the beginning of the 21st century. The development of mass tourism with all the health benefits of temporary changes in the working and living environment and living in healthsaving areas (sea, lakes, mountains ...), due to large globalized intercontinental migrations at the same time results in large pollution and environmental destruction and intensive contacts for the spread of epidemics pai pandemic infectious diseases.Positive but also negative experiences and the scale of pandemics of infectious diseases and activities for their prevention and control are considered on a global scale and especially in the area of the famous Croatian Mediterranean region of Dalmatia, as a crossroads of demographic, economic and cultural communications to Europe and the world. Understanding and analyzing the occurrence and legality of occurrence, development, spread and duration of periodic recurrence of epidemics and pandemics, as well as their suppression and prevention throughout the millennium history, with sociocultural and touristic interaction which is discussed in this paper, can be a valuable reference point in the current pandemic SARS Cov-2 Covid 19, which has seriously threatened the world with so far (31.01.21.) an estimated over 100 million patients and 2 million deaths ( in Croatia over200 000 patients and 5000 deaths) with, in some european countries, a worrying progression that despite the efforts of the health epidemiological profession is not waning. However, with the drastic measures taken by the National Staff , the situation with the pandemic at the end of January 2021 is gradually easing, which allows for a cautious relaxation of measures. Following this is the announcement of further cautious easing of measures with the intention that Croatia, as a “corona free” destination, welcomes the upcoming tourist season on which the entire Dalmatian and whole Croatian economy depends.
This study explores the scale efficiency of four star hotels in a small tourist destination in Croatia. The number of overnight stays and the increase in hotel beds are two indicators of the ...development of a tourist destination. Among the accommodation facilities, hotels play a significant role in the development of a tourist destination, but they are increasingly facing a labor force crisis. Data envelopment analysis is used to rank hotels by efficiency coefficient. The aim of the paper is to investigate the efficiency of the hotel by taking certain inputs and outputs, which are explained in detail in the paper. The paper uses the CCR (Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes) and BCC (Banker, Charnes, and Cooper) models to calculate hotel scale efficiency and also presents an overview of previous research around the world.

Successful development of a tourist destination is determined by proactive activities of all destinations’ stakeholders. Besides tourists, the key tourist destination stakeholders are: employees in tourism, organizations in tourism as creators of tourism offer, local authorities, investors in tourist capacity and local inhabitants. The paper builds on the postulation that local inhabitants employed in tourism are the key ingredient that contributes to developing distinguishing elements of a destination and differentiates it from other tourist destinations. Based on previous findings and field research, the paper discusses how local inhabitants, especially ones that are employed in tourism, contribute to the development of a tourist
destination brand. With that purpose in mind, field research has been conducted using the questionnaire on a purposive sample of several tourist destinations in Croatia. Brand awareness positively influences brand value of a tourist destination and consequently brand value positively influences brand loyalty of a tourist destination. All this contributes to the development of a tourist destination brand. The paper
focuses only on several antecedents of building a tourist destination brand, and this is perceived as paper limitation. But, nonetheless, the paper has indicated new research streams that should be applied and, also, research results offer ideas for managerial structures in tourism that are focused on developing a tourist destination brand.
