The characteristics of acoustic-gravity waves (waveforms, time durations, amplitudes, azimuths and horizontal phase speeds) from the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Hapai volcano detected at ...different infrasound stations of the Infrasound Monitoring System and at a network of low-frequency microbarographs in the Moscow region are studied. Using the correlation analysis of the signals at different locations, six arrivals of signals from the volcano, which made up to two revolutions around the Earth, were detected. The Lamb mode of acoustic gravity waves from the volcano eruption is identified and the effect of this mode on generation of tsunami waves and variation of aerosol concentration is studied. The energy released from an underwater volcano into the atmosphere is estimated from the parameters of the Lamb wave and compared with the energy released from the most powerful nuclear bomb of 58 Mt TNT.

The EAS Cherenkov light array Tunka-133, with ~3km2 geometric area, is taking data since 2009. The array permits a detailed study of cosmic ray energy spectrum and mass composition in the PeV energy ...range. After a short description of the methods of EAS parameter reconstruction, we present the all-particle energy spectrum and results of studying CR composition, based on 3 seasons of array operation. In the last part of the paper, we discuss possible interpretations of the obtained results.
Biodegradability patterns of two PHAs: a polymer of 3-hydroxybutyric acid (3-PHB) and a copolymer of 3-hydroxybutyric and 3-hydroxyvaleric acids (3-PHB/3-PHV) containing 11
mol% of hydroxyvalerate, ...were studied in the tropical marine environment, in the South China Sea (Nha Trang, Vietnam). No significant differences have been observed between degradation rates of 3-PHB and 3-PHB/3-PHV specimens; it has been found that under study conditions, biodegradation is rather influenced by the shape of the polymer item and the preparation technique than by the chemical composition of the polymer. Biodegradation rates of polymer films in seawater have been found to be higher than those of compacted pellets. As 3-PHB and 3-PHB/3-PHV are degraded and the specimens lose their mass, molecular weight of both polymers is decreased, i.e. polymer chains get destroyed. The polydispersity index of the PHAs grows significantly. However, the degree of crystallinity of both PHAs remains unchanged, i.e. the amorphous phase and the crystalline one are equally disintegrated. PHA-degrading microorganisms were isolated using the clear-zone technique, by inoculating the isolates onto mineral agar that contained PHA as sole carbon source. Based on the 16S rRNA analysis, the PHA-degrading strains were identified as
Enterobacter sp. (four strains),
Bacillus sp. and
Gracilibacillus sp.
Residual stresses in an X-shaped weld of 32-mm-thick steel plates have been studied using neutron diffraction. The effect of pre-holding of weldments and their post-weld heat treatment on the ...distribution of residual stresses has been studied. The stress distribution is close to symmetric with respect to the centerline of the weld section and clearly asymmetric with respect to the middle of the weld thickness. The maximum tensile (longitudinal) stresses occur in the weld half-thickness, which was welded first. The peak value of longitudinal stresses in a fixed plate is 800 MPa (98% of the yield strength of the weld metal), which is significantly higher than that in a free plate (530 MPa). The zone of maximum compressive (transverse) stresses of –400 MPa in a fixed plate is located in the first half-thickness of the weld, while its second half occurs in the free plate. After heat treatment, the tensile and compressive stresses remained in general tensile and compressive, respectively. The maximum tensile longitudinal stresses were reduced to 270 MPa in the fixed plate and to 220 MPa in the free plate. The maximum compressive transverse stresses in both plates were reduced to ‒170 MPa.
A survey of papers on practically significant restrictions on the preference profile of a collective is carried out, including single-peaked preferences, group-separable preferences, preferences with ...the single-crossing property, and Euclidean preferences and their extensions. Both ordinal and dichotomous preferences are considered. For structured preferences, we present characterization in terms of forbidden subprofiles and the probability of the appearance of a profile with a given property. For group-separable preferences, we describe an algorithm for constructing a hierarchical tree. Structured preferences leading to a unique stable matching in the marriage problem are considered separately.
The only experimentally proved method of synthesis of superheavy elements (SHE) is the use of fusion reactions with heavy ions. Modeling of complicated dynamics of nuclear reactions induced by heavy ...ions is done within a multidimensional dynamical model of nucleus-nucleus collisions based on the Langevin equations. The model gives a continuous description of the system evolution starting from the well-separated target and projectile in the entrance channel of the reaction up to the formation of final reaction products. In this paper, we study fusion dynamics in competition with dominating channels of quasifission and deep inelastic transfer. The estimates have been made for cross sections for synthesis of new neutron-enriched isotopes of known SHE in
-evaporation channels as well as fusion cross section for reactions with
