The paper presents the experience of the media education project for journalism students at Sumy State University. The workshops dealt with different media categories (media agencies, media ...technologies, media languages, media audience, media representations) and necessary components of communicative competence (technical information competence, information competence, social information competence, technical media competence, media competence, social media competence). During October 2017 - January 2018, five workshops and seminars were held. For each activity, input and output survey was conducted to assess the extent to which the level of knowledge and skills of the participants on a particular topic increased, as well as how the participants evaluated the project. On average, 32 people took part in each workshop, 78% of them filled in the questionnaires (in total 140 input and 112 output questionnaires were analysed). The results showed that despite the high level of initial knowledge of the participants, the training course contributed to their understanding of certain media categories and other specific issues. The participants also pointed out the importance and relevance of the information for their professional activity. The survey of 29 regular project participants and 27 professional journalists working in the mass media of Sumy Region was conducted to assess the project effectiveness. The participants highly assessed their knowledge of media literacy. The students' results were similar to those of professionals' (in the assessment of knowledge acquired, understanding the notion of media literacy, determining the main tasks of media education and the most effective ways of acquiring media competences). However, the students evaluated their analytical skills lower and rarely applied them. Further workshops will be aimed at dealing with this issue. The analysis of survey results proves the efficiency of the combination of formal and non-formal teaching methods for journalism students. It is important both for the training participants and the universities as they have become more competitive and able to face the challenges of academic education nowadays. The experience described can be implemented by other academic institutions to improve the quality of journalism education in Ukraine.
The aim of the study is to develop the composition of an emulsion containing essential oils of Fennel and Caraway seeds for use in the symptomatic complex therapy of ulcerative colitis with the aim ...of eliminating functional intestinal disorders.
Materials and methods. The objects of the study were samples of emulsions containing active pharmaceutical ingredients (essential oils of Fennel and Caraway), purified water, oils (refined sunflower oil, refined olive oil, refined sesame oil), emulsifiers (polyethylene glycol 40 hydrogenated castor oil, polysorbate 80, polyethylene glycol 100 stearate, acacia gum, guar gum, xanthan gum, soya lecithin), viscosity regulator - apple pectin and flavouring agents (food additives with cherry and tarragon flavour).
Organoleptic properties, stability, rheological parameters, pH, particle size determination by microscopy, and a taste test were carried out with model emulsion samples. Research to establish the optimal technological parameters was carried out in parallel.
Results. The main parameters of the technological process have been established, which allow to obtain an emulsion with evenly distributed particles: 15 minutes at maximum speed. The concentration of emulsifiers at which the emulsions are stable was selected. It was found that the samples containing polyethylene glycol 100 stearate, gums, and soy lecithin have satisfactory organoleptic properties.
The sample with soy lecithin emulsifier differs from the others in its ability to form microemulsions, but it has low viscosity. To improve the rheological properties, apple pectin was added to the emulsion.
The taste test showed that among vegetable oils, refined sesame oil has a more neutral taste, and the flavouring additive "Tarkhun" balances the taste better.
The release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from the emulsion base was confirmed by thin-layer chromatography.
Conclusions. A microemulsion with essential oils based on refined sesame oil, soy lecithin, with the addition of viscosity and flavour correctors was developed. The obtained emulsion has satisfactory organoleptic properties and conforms to the requirements for emulsion quality indicators
Мета дослідження – розроблення складу емульсії, до складу якої входять ефірні олії Фенхелю звичайного та Кмину звичайного, для застосування у симптоматичному блоці комплексної терапії неспецифічного виразкового коліту з метою усунення функціональних кишкових розладів.
Матеріали і методи. Об’єктами дослідження були зразки емульсій, до складу яких входили активні фармацевтичні інгредієнти (ефірні олії фенхелю звичайного та кмину звичайного), вода очищена, рослинні олії (соняшникова рафінована, маслинова рафінована, кунжутна рафінована), емульгатори (поліетиленгліколь 40 гідрогенізована рицинова олія, полісорбат 80, поліетиленгліколь 100 стеарат, акацієва камедь, гуарова камедь, ксантанова камедь, лецитин соєвий), регулятор в’язкості – пектин яблучний та коригенти смаку (харчові смакоароматичні добавки зі смаком вишні та тархуну).
Із модельними зразками емульсій були проведені дослідження органолептичних властивостей, стабільності, реологічних показників, рН, визначення розміру частинок мікроскопічним методом, проведено смаковий тест. Паралельно було проведено дослідження зі встановлення оптимальних технологічних параметрів.
Результати. Встановлено основні параметри технологічного процесу, які дозволяють отримати емульсію з рівномірно розподіленими частинками у всьому її об’ємі: 15 хвилин на максимальній швидкості обертів. Підібрано концентрацію емульгаторів, за яких емульсії є стабільними. Встановлено, що зразки, до складу яких входять поліетиленгліколь 100 стеарат, камеді та соєвий лецитин володіють задовільними органолептичними властивостями.
Зразок із емульгатором соєвим лецитином відрізняється від інших здатністю утворювати мікроемульсії, однак він має низькі показники в’язкості. З метою покращення реологічних властивостей було додано пектин яблучних до складу емульсії.
Проведений смаковий тест показав, що серед рослинних олій більш нейтральним смаком володіє кунжутна олія рафінована, а краще збалансовує смак харчова смакоароматична добавка «Тархун».
Вивільнення активних фармацевтичних інгредієнтів (АФІ) з емульсійної основи підтверджено методом тонкошарової хроматографії.
Висновки. Було розроблено мікроемульсію з ефірними оліями на основі кунжутної олії рафінованої, лецитину соєвого, з додаванням коригентів в’язкості та смаку. Отримана емульсія володіє задовільними органолептичними властивостями, відповідає вимогам щодо показників якості емульсій
The article discusses the response efficiency of the journalism education system to the post-truth challenges. The aim of our research is to find out whether the higher education system of Ukraine is ...able to provide the media system with quality professional staff ready for political participation, responsibility and upholding democratic values in the conditions of post-truth and aggressive external information influence. The experiment covered three groups: journalism students with general professional training, journalism students, who additionally participated in fact-checking trainings and economics students, who did not study the basics of media literacy. The survey results and focus group discussion proved that the future journalists show greater confidence in their skills, but, in fact, they are not able to distinguish better truth, manipulation and lies than the future economists All three groups had vague ideas about these concepts and tend to trust statements that seem familiar and simple. Fact-checking trainings do not give students an advantage in identifying truth and lies in public statements. The results suggest an urgent need to find new system solutions on the part of higher education, the community of professionals to train future journalists ready to work in the post-truth conditions.
