Purpose: Overactive bladder (OAB) is characterized by a series of highly prevalent symptoms among older adults. This study used the Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS) and Patient Perception of ...Bladder Condition (PPBC) tools to evaluate the efficacy and stability of solifenacin fumarate in the treatment of OAB.Materials and Methods: This was a prospective, multicenter, single-arm, 12-week study that enrolled 163 OAB patients. The patients received 5 mg/day of solifenacin fumarate. The changes in the OABSS, symptoms, and PPBC scores were evaluated at 0, 4, and 12 weeks. Subgroup analysis of the OABSS and PPBC scores based on sex, diabetes mellitus (DM) status, and body mass index (BMI) were also evaluated.Results: At the baseline (week 0), the mean OABSS for all patients was 8.45±2.38(p=0.199). Subsequently, the mean OABSS declined to 5.41±2.69 (p=0.255) at four weeks and 4.21±2.61 (p=0.240) at 12 weeks. The OABSS subscore and PPBC score decreased significantly during the study (p<0.01). After cases were stratified according to sex, DM status, and BMI, the mean OABSS (mean and subscore) and PPBC score at four and 12 weeks were also improved significantly relative to the baseline scores (both p<0.05). The overall incidence of adverse events was 7.36% (12 cases), and three patients (1.82%) permanently discontinued solifenacin fumarate because of the adverse events.Conclusions: Solifenacin fumarate is a safe and effective treatment alternative for relieving OAB symptoms, considering the balance between the efficacy, patientsʼwell-being, and tolerability. Historically, small cell carcinoma in the thyroid has been regarded as a kind of lymphoma and small cell carcinoma in the thyroid as a distinct ...disease entity is still controversial. Here, we present two cases of thyroid small cell carcinoma that were differentiated from lymphoma, based on immunohistochemical staining. One case was misdiagnosed as anaplastic carcinoma that occurred during the treatment of follicular carcinoma. Both cases responded well to chemotherapy. These cases support the hypothesis that thyroid small cell carcinoma is a distinct disease entity. One should consider small cell carcinoma when there is a rapidly growing mass in the thyroid. The association between a multiple myeloma and a secondary solid tumor is not well established. Some reports showed an increased risk of secondary solid neoplasms in multiple myeloma patients, but ...others have not. Three cases of the synchronous occurrence of multiple myelomas and solid tumors, namely, a small cell carcinoma of the lung, an adenocarcinoma of the colon and a squamous carcinoma of the pyriform sinus were experienced at our hospital. Therefore, herein is reported the clinical courses and treatment results. The stage of multiple myeloma was Durie-Salmon stage I in all of three cases; therefore, the solid tumors were treated as a primary target because the prognosis of early stage multiple myeloma is generally better than that of advanced solid tumor, while a smoldering or stage I myeloma do not need primary therapy until progression of the multiple myeloma. Two patients died of their solid tumors, but one patient is alive.
The genes defective in familial Alzheimer's disease encode the proteins presenilin 1 and 2 (PS1 and 2). Expression of presenilins (PSs) and their proteolytic processing are regulated during neuronal ...development. Even though these proteins are detected and regulated mainly in Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum, their subcellular distribution during the development is not known. The present study aimed to investigate the localization of PSs and their role during early developmental stage using mouse embryo model. At preimplantation stage, PSs were detected not only in cytoplasm, but also in the nucleus from oocyte to 2.5 dpc (day postcoitum), then disappeared in the nucleus at blastocyst stage (3.5 dpc). Antisense against PS1 and PS2 decreased the transition to blastocyst stage, whereas each antisense alone had no effect. Treatment with lactacystin (26S proteosome inhibitor), which arrest cell cycle at M phase, redistributed PSs into centrosome‐kinetochore microtubule. PS2 overexpression in HEK 293 cell arrested cell cycle at S phase. 본 연구에서는 공기청정기를 비롯한 대형공조설비에 설치 가능한 유전체분리판 적용 전기집진기의 집진특성을 연구하였으며, 주요 결과는 다음과 같다.
1) 유전체 분리판을 2단 전기집진기의 집진부 전극 사이에 배치하여 전극 간 직류전류가 흐를 수 없도록 격벽을 형성하여 전류흐름을 차단하여, 스파크 방지가 가능하였고, 유전체 구조 내의 전기분극으로 인해 정전기력이 ...증가하고 집진면적을 증대시켜 집진효율을 상승시키는 효과가 있음을 확인하였다.
2) 0.3 ㎛ 크기의 입자에서 유전체 분리판 적용 전기집진기의 집진효율은 유속 1 m/s에서 유전체분리판 미적용 전기집진기 대비 6.11% 높은 99.70%이었으며, 2 m/s에서는 23.62% 높은 93.59%의 집진효율을 나타내었다.
3) 유전체 분리판 적용 전기집진기의 대전부 인가전압을 6.5 kV에서 7.0 kV로 증가시켰을 때, 면속도 2 m/s 기준, 93.59%에서 97.09%로 집진효율이 증가하였다.
4) 유전체 분리판 적용 전기집진기의 면속도별 PM2.5 집진효율 평가결과, 풍속 4 m/s의 높은 유속에서도 58% 수준 이상의 PM2.5 집진성능을 확인하였다. There are several important parameters for improving the air cleaning system, such as fine dust removal efficiency, pressure drop across the system, and maintenance convenience. Although an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) has a high potential for maintaining good indoor air quality, the dust collection efficiency of particulate matter less than 2.5 μm particle size (PM2.5) should be improved at the higher air flow rate. In this study, an electrostatic precipitator with a dielectric separator for improving the removal of fine dusts is designed and evaluated. The dielectric separator inserted in the ESP can prevent the occurrence of short electrodes. Further due to the electrical polarization of the dielectric separator in the electric field, it is possible to increase the electrostatic force and improve the collection efficiency by reducing the distance at positive electrode-to-positive electrode. The dust collection efficiency of the dielectric separator ESP based on the air filter performance method of KS B 6740 at the test conditions of the particle size of 0.3 ㎛ and the face velocity of 2 m/s is found out increasing 26%, compared to the conventional ESP without the dielectric separator. Bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) is often diagnosed in patients with pneumonia who respond poorly to antibiotics. BOOP is often idiopathic, and the etiology of the remaining cases ...has been attributed to a wide range of agents or medical conditions. When a patient develops the clinical symptoms characteristic of BOOP, the medical team must endeavor to determine the etiology of this disease because it can be treated with glucocorticoid and avoidance of the causative agent. In particular, if BOOP is diagnosed during or after chemotherapy for a malignancy, the possible culprit agent can be the anti cancer drugs but other drugs used for supportive care must be also be considered. We report a case of BOOP that arose after CHOP chemotherapy and a filgrastim injection in a patient with a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
New structural approach of Dy2O3 incorporated HfO2 multi-metal oxide n-MOSFETs and their electrical characterization are investigated for the first time. Top Dy2O3 laminated HfO2 bi-layer structure ...shows the thinnest EOT with reduced leakage current compared to control HfO2. Improved electrical characteristics such as lower VT, higher drive current and channel electron mobility are demonstrated. In addition, better VT instabilities, reduced dielectric charge trapping, and less Ta penetration from TaN metal gate electrode are obtained in Dy2O3/HfO2 structure. Finally, reduced phonon scattering is found to be the plausible mechanism for higher channel mobility.
