The revolution of 4.0 industry refers to power electronics technology development, including multilevel converter that more superior than conventional converter. Multilevel converter has less ...harmonics disruption, a few switches, and a lower cost. This paper is discussing about the new strategy in the five levels of asymmetric inverter, and some comparison to a conventional inverter which already existed. Focused on the design construction from five levels of the converter resolve the limitations of the conventional converter. Produce lower harmonic distortion, this construction was designed and stimulated using PSIM software. The result in real time shows THD value of 3,75%.

This converter only requires 2 carrier signals and is simulated in real-time with a THD of 3.36%.

This paper presents a single-phase five-level inverter using a sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) controlled in dual buck DC-DC converter and full bridge inverter. The proposed topology is a hybrid converter: dual buck DC-DC converters to generate SPWM voltage level with high frequency and full bridge inverter to generate polarity. This method is very effective to predict the high frequency power semiconductor in dual buck DC-DC converters. The other side the full bridge inverter just need a low frequency. By this method, the gating signals for power semiconductor switches are generated by employing simple pulse width modulation. The fist verification of this topology is by simulation using PSIM software. Finally, a microcontroller dsPIC30F4012 is used in laboratory experiment for the last verification.
ABSTRAKEnergi terbarukan saat ini banyak digunakan sebagai sumber energi baru ramah lingkungan. Imbasnya, sumber energi terbarukan dikembangkan secara signifikan seperti mikrohidro. Mikrohidro adalah ...alat yang mengkonversikan energi air menjadi energi listrik. Dalam sistem ini, mikrohidro terhubung dengan permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) dan menghasilkan energi listrik tiga fasa dengan skala kecil. Untuk menghasilkan energi listrik yang stabil dan memiliki efisiensi tinggi, diperlukan penyearah dioda tiga fasa dan konverter DC-DC. Penelitian ini mengusulkan DC-DC Buck-Boost Converter dengan peregulasi tegangan keluaran. In this system, the microhydro is connected to a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and produces three-phase electrical energy on a small scale. To produce stable and high-efficiency electrical energy, a three-phase diode rectifier and a DC-DC converter are required. This research proposes a DC-DC Buck-Boost Converter equipped with output voltage regulation. The global use of renewable energy resources has led to the design and development of high performance, efficient, controllable, and cheap multilevel inverters, which act as a solution to the ...numerous power deficiencies. However, in terms of control, these multilevel inverters are often associated with DC sources and complexity. Therefore, this research designed a single-phase five-level inverter using a DC source, with a novel sinusoidal pulse-width-modulated (SPWM) control scheme. The system consists of a Flying Capacitor DC-DC Converter and H-Bridge Inverter (FCDCDC-HBI). A single absolute reference signal and the phase-shifted triangular carrier were used to generate SPWM to enhance the capacitor voltage balance. The designed inverter is capable of producing five levels of output voltage levels, namely Vi, Vi/2, 0, −Vi/2, and −Vi from a DC supply, thereby reducing the overall cost and complexity of the SPWM system. This research also produced a detailed operation principle of the proposed system, which was verified through simulation and implemented using a prototype. Finally, hardware implementation results are presented to check the performance of the inverter.
The inverter with low voltage harmonics on the output side is a very interesting topic, and widely studied. One of these solutions is a 5-levels inverter: Dual Buck DC-DC Converter - H Bridge ...Inverter (DBC-HBI). The inverter control methods based on digital sinusoidal pulse width modulation (DSPWM) are commonly implemented by one or a half of the wavelength algorithm (λ). However, one period could be constructed by combining four algorithms by ¼ λ. In this paper, an algorithm of DSPWM based on a ¼ λ algorithm is investigated. The aim of this research is the simplest control and capacities of memory. Finally, a verification of the proposed method was carried out by the experiment in the laboratory. Based on the laboratory tests: 1 λ algorithm has a simple algorithm, but uses large memory, whereas a ¼ λ algorithm more complicated but uses less memory.
The increasing demand for electrical energy must be balanced with using renewable energy. However, the use of renewable energy requires a system to maximize the conversion of renewable energy into ...electrical energy. Various topologies have been studied to achieve maximum energy conversion. Two types of inverters, namely step up-down, have been widely used but have their respective limitations. Step-down inverters can only be used in lower output voltage than input voltage conditions with simple control, while step-up inverters can only operate in higher output voltage than input voltage conditions. This paper aims to combine these two converters to have both step-up-down voltage functions, with the goal of expanding the operating range and maintaining the advantages of each type. Thus, a topology called a step-up-down five-level inverter with a simple voltage-controlled capacitor balancing system is proposed in this paper. Finally, the simulation and laboratory tests were done. This inverter operates in step-up-down voltage, and the voltage in capacitors is always balanced to reach the desired level. The voltage control was done to get the constant voltage event the load was changed.
ABSTRAKPenggunaan inverter terkendali arus pada sistem integrasi dengan jala-jala memiliki beberapa kendala seperti nilai tegangan masukan inverter harus melebihi tegangan pada jala-jala, ditambah ...lagi terdapat gangguan harmonisa pada frekuensi pensaklaran inverter yang dapat menginterferensi jala-jala. Penggunaan inverter lima tingkat yang digabung dengan AC-AC boost diajukan pada makalah ini untuk mengeliminasi gangguan harmonisa dan mampu menghasilkan nilai tegangan yang lebih tinggi dari pada nilai tegangan masukan. Dengan begitu konverter yang diajukan mampu bekerja sebagai penaik dan penurun tegangan. Konverter yang diajukan menggunakan satu buah sumber DC dan menerapkan metode arus keluaran yang terkendali sebagai dasar dalam penyuntikan arus ke jala-jala untuk riset ke depan. Konverter yang diajukan mampu menghasilkan nilai Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) sebesar 2,6% dan memenuhi standar IEEE Std 519-2014 yaitu kurang dari 5%.Kata kunci: inverter lima tingkat , kendali arus, penaik dan penurun tegangan, THD, penyuntikan arus ke jala-jala ABSTRACTThe use of grid connected current-controlled inverters has several constraints such as the input voltage value of the inverter must exceed the voltage on the grid, plus there are harmonic disturbances at the inverter switching frequency which can interfere with the grid. The use of a five-level inverter combined with AC-AC boost is proposed in this article to eliminate harmonic disturbances and be able to produce a higher voltage value than the input voltage value. Thus the proposed converter is able to work as a buck and boost voltage. The proposed converter uses a single DC source and applies a controlled output current method as a basis for injecting current into the grid for future research. Five-level inverter is widely used in many industrial applications, for example as a three-phase electric motor drive, PLTS, etc. This inverter works using two separated DC voltage sources in order ...to form different voltage level. Five-level inverter using one DC voltage source will be more efficient. A DC-DC boost converter on Voltage Doubler type is used in order to solve the problem. The focus of this research is on controlling the DC-DC boost converter on Voltage Doubler type. The switch control method uses a shifted pulse width modulation of 1800. To get a suitable output voltage, an output voltage control system is applied. A proportional and integral type control is implemented using STM32F1038CT microcontroller. The output voltage controlled DC-DC boost converter is validated through computational simulation with Power Simulator software and as the final step will be implemented on hardware in the laboratory. Based on the simulation and implementation, Voltage-Doubler type of DC-DC boost converter is able to produce the required output voltage, which is two times greater than the conventional DC-DC boost converter output voltage.
Inverter has been used for a wide variety of applications in renewable energy system. The use of inverter in a solar power plant system can off-grid and on-grid. H-Bridge inverter is one of the ...commonly used inverter. One of its disadvantages is the requirement of high frequency in order to get a low defect level on the output current. The use of a five-level inverter with considering the amount of a power semiconductor switch in can be as an alternative. This study aims to use a five-level inverter with five power semiconductor switches to deliver power to the grid.The working principle uses two sinusoidal signals that are shifted by 1800 compared to two carrier signals to produce a sinusoidal pulse width modulation signal. A sinusoidal pulse width modulation signal is used as a controller on each power semiconductor switch. The transmitted power is in the form of a current that is injected into the single-phase grid. The transmission of a power using five-level inverter to a single-phase grid was validated by a Power Simulator software. The final stage was a hardware implementation in the laboratory. The result shows that the inverter could transmit a power as current with 4.01% THDi, transmitted power as 36.4 Watts, and transmitted current as 0.52 Amps.
