Supportive social relationships are vital for health and well‐being as they serve to ameliorate stress and therefore reduce the likelihood of suffering from disease across the life course. This ...social support could be more essential for transgender people, who experience unique social stress due to their marginalized status. The current study compared and contrasted the experiential accounts of transgender people, their relational partners and gender service providers using a thematic phenomenological methodology across a series of focus groups and interviews. In total, there were 17 participants across three focus groups (eight transgender people, six relational partners, and three service providers) and nine participants in the interviews (three transgender people, three relational partners and three service providers). Four overarching themes were identified: (1) Coming out and identity management, (2) Reciprocal support in relationships, (3) Social transition and gender identity affirmation, (4) Experiences in the LGBTQ+ community. Issues of stigma, identity, and support were present throughout all the themes. Receiving gender identity affirmation from supportive relational partners was essential for transgender people, while external support was highlighted as something relational partners needed (but did not often seek). This research has implications for understanding how transgender people and their relational partners support one another when facing stress and stigma.

We don't know how medieval soldiers fought. Did they just walk forward in their armour, to smash each other with their maces and poleaxes, for hours on end, as depicted on film in programs such as ...Game of Thrones? They could not have done so. It is impossible to fight in such a manner for more than several minutes as exhaustion becomes a preventative factor. Indeed, we know more of how the Roman and Greek armies fought than we do of the 1300 to 1550 period. So how did medieval soldiers in the War of the Roses, and in the infantry sections of battles such as Agincourt and Towton, carry out their grim work? Medieval Military Combat shows, for the first time, the techniques of such battles. It also breaks new ground in establishing medieval battle numbers as highly exaggerated, and that we need to look again at the accounts of actions such as the famous Battle of Towton, which this work uses as a basic for its overall study.

Background
Congenital sensorineural deafness (CSD) is the most common type of deafness in Dalmatian dogs.
Objectives
To use results of CSD screening in Dalmatian dogs in the United Kingdom in genetic ...analysis and to determine any changes in the prevalence of CSD in this breed over time.
Animals
A total of 8955 Dalmatian puppies undergoing hearing function screening using brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) between July 1992 and February 2019.
Methods
Results of BAER testing and pigmentation phenotypic data were linked to the UK Kennel Club Dalmatian pedigree database. Mixed model analysis was used to estimate variance parameters.
Results
The overall prevalence of CSD was 17.8% (13.4%, unilateral; 4.4%, bilateral). Heritability of CSD was approximately 0.3 (across models) and significantly >0. Genetic correlations between CSD and blue irises (+0.6) and pigmented head patch (−0.86) were large in magnitude and significantly different form 0. Significant improving phenotypic and genetic trends were identified, likely as the result of selection against deafness, equivalent to avoiding breeding with the 4% to 5% of animals with the highest genetic risk of CSD.
Conclusions and Clinical Importance
A decrease in the prevalence and genetic risk of CSD implies breeders have been selecting for hearing dogs. Selective breeding based on estimated breeding values (EBVs) can help further decrease the prevalence of CSD in Dalmatians in the future.
Increased demand for sustainable timber products has resulted in large investments in agroforestry in Australia, with plantations growing various Pinus species, selected to suit a plantation’s ...environment. Juvenile Pinus species have a low fire tolerance. With Australia’s history of wildfires and the likelihood of climate change exacerbating that risk, the potential for a total loss of invested capital is high unless cost-effective targeted risk minimisation is part of forest management plans. Based on the belief that the understory profiles within the juvenile plantations are a major factor determining fuel hazard risks, an accurate assessment of these profiles is required to effectively mitigate those risks. At present, assessment protocols are largely reliant on ground-based observations, which are labour-intensive, time consuming, and expensive. This research project investigates the effectiveness of using geospatial analysis of drone-derived photographic data collected in the commercial pine plantations of south-eastern Queensland as a cost-saving alternative to current fuel hazard risk assessment practices. Understory composition was determined using the supervised classification of orthomosaic images together with derivations of canopy height models (CHMs). The CHMs were subjected to marker-controlled watershed segmentation (MCWS) analysis, isolating and removing the plantation pine trees, enabling the quantification of understory fuel profiles. The method used proved highly applicable to immature forest environments with minimal canopy closure, but became less reliable for close canopied older plantations.
