RNF2 (also known as ding, Ring1B or Ring2) is a member of the Ring finger protein family, which functions as E3 ubiquitin ligase for monoubiquitination of histone H2A at lysine 119 (H2AK119ub). RNF2 ...gene is located at the 1q25.3 site of human chromosome and the coding region is composed of 9 exons, encoding 336 amino acids in total. Many studies have demonstrated that overexpressed RNF2 was involved in the pathological progression of multiple cancers and has an impact on their clinical features. For instance, the upregulated expression level of RNF2 is positively correlated with the occurrence and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma, melanoma, prostate cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and bladder urothelial carcinoma, as well as with the radioresistance of lung cancer and chemoresistance of ovarian cancer. This review provides an up‐to‐date perspective on the relationship between RNF2 and several cancers and highlights recent studies on RNF2 regulation. In particular, the relevant cellular signaling pathways and potential clinical value of RNF2 in cancers are also discussed, suggesting its potential as an epigenetic biomarker and therapeutic target for these cancers.

Hybrid flow shop scheduling problems are encountered in many real-world manufacturing operations such as computer assembly, TFT-LCD module assembly, and solar cell manufacturing. Most research ...considers the scheduling problem in regard to time requirements and the steps needed to improve production efficiency. However, the increasing amount of carbon emissions worldwide is contributing to the worsening global warming problem. Many countries and international organizations have started to pay attention to this problem, even creating mechanisms to reduce carbon emissions. Furthermore, manufacturing enterprises are showing growing interest in realizing energy savings. Thus, the present research study focuses on reducing energy costs and completion time at the manufacturing-system level. This paper proposed a multi-objective mixed-integer programming for energy-efficient hybrid flow shop scheduling with lot streaming in order to minimize both the production makespan and electric power consumption. Due to a trade-off between these objectives and the computational complexity of the proposed multi-objective mixed-integer program, this study adopts the genetic algorithm (GA) to obtain approximate Pareto solutions more efficiently. In addition, a multi-objective energy efficiency scheduling algorithm is also developed to calculate the fitness values of each chromosome in GA.
Background
Women and their health care providers need a reliable answer to this important question: If a woman chooses to participate in regular mammography screening, then how much will this choice ...improve her chances of avoiding a death from breast cancer compared with women who choose not to participate?
Methods
To answer this question, we used comprehensive registries for population, screening history, breast cancer incidence, and disease‐specific death data in a defined population in Dalarna County, Sweden. The annual incidence of breast cancer was calculated along with the annual incidence of breast cancers that were fatal within 10 and within 11 to 20 years of diagnosis among women aged 40 to 69 years who either did or did not participate in mammography screening during a 39‐year period (1977‐2015). For an additional comparison, corresponding data are presented from 19 years of the prescreening period (1958‐1976). All patients received stage‐specific therapy according to the latest national guidelines, irrespective of the mode of detection.
Results
The benefit for women who chose to participate in an organized breast cancer screening program was a 60% lower risk of dying from breast cancer within 10 years after diagnosis (relative risk, 0.40; 95% confidence interval, 0.34‐0.48) and a 47% lower risk of dying from breast cancer within 20 years after diagnosis (relative risk, 0.53; 95% confidence interval, 0.44‐0.63) compared with the corresponding risks for nonparticipants.
Conclusions
Although all patients with breast cancer stand to benefit from advances in breast cancer therapy, the current results demonstrate that women who have participated in mammography screening obtain a significantly greater benefit from the therapy available at the time of diagnosis than do those who have not participated.
After 20 years of follow‐up, women who participate in mammography screening have a 47% lower risk of dying from breast cancer. Although all patients with breast cancer potentially can benefit from advances in breast cancer therapy, women who participate in mammography screening obtain a significantly greater benefit from the therapy available at the time of diagnosis than those who do not participate.

We present here a unique application of big data analytics among Taiwanese people who had contact with more than 3000 passengers that disembarked at Keelung harbor in Taiwan for a 1-day tour on January 31, 2020, 5 days before the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the Diamond Princess cruise ship on February 5, 2020, after an index case was identified on January 20, 2020.
The smart contact tracing-based mobile sensor data, cross-validated by other big sensor surveillance data, were analyzed by the mobile geopositioning method and rapid analysis to identify 627,386 potential contact-persons. Information on self-monitoring and self-quarantine was provided via SMS, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) tests were offered for symptomatic contacts. National Health Insurance claims big data were linked, to follow-up on the outcome related to COVID-19 among those who were hospitalized due to pneumonia and advised to undergo screening for SARS-CoV-2.
As of February 29, a total of 67 contacts who were tested by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction were all negative and no confirmed COVID-19 cases were found. Less cases of respiratory syndrome and pneumonia were found after the follow-up of the contact population compared with the general population until March 10, 2020.
Big data analytics with smart contact tracing, automated alert messaging for self-restriction, and follow-up of the outcome related to COVID-19 using health insurance data could curtail the resources required for conventional epidemiological contact tracing.
The Taiwan Biobank (TWB) aims to build a nationwide research database that integrates genomic/epigenomic profiles, lifestyle patterns, dietary habits, environmental exposure history and long-term ...health outcomes of 300,000 residents of Taiwan. We describe here an investigation of the population structure of Han Chinese on this Pacific island using genotype data of 591,048 SNPs in an initial freeze of 10,801 unrelated TWB participants. In addition to the North-South cline reported in other Han Chinese populations, we find the Taiwanese Han Chinese clustered into three cline groups: 5% were of northern Han Chinese ancestry, 79.9% were of southern Han Chinese ancestry, and 14.5% belonged to a third (T) group. We also find that this T group is genetically distinct from neighbouring Southeast Asians and Austronesian tribes but similar to other southern Han Chinese. Interestingly, high degree of LD between HLA haplotype A*33:03-B*58:01, an MHC allele being of pathological relevance, and SNPs across the MHC region was observed in subjects with T origin, but not in other Han Chinese. This suggested the T group individuals may have experienced evolutionary events independent from the other southern Han Chinese. Based on the newly-discovered population structure, we detect different loci susceptible to type II diabetes in individuals with southern and northern Han Chinese ancestries. Finally, as one of the largest dataset currently available for the Chinese population, genome-wide statistics for the 10,810 subjects are made publicly accessible through Taiwan View (https://taiwanview.twbiobank.org.tw/index; date last accessed October 14, 2016) to encourage future genetic research and collaborations with the island Taiwan.

Polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) foam as one of next‐generation polymer foam materials shows poor surface adhesion and limited functionality, which greatly restricts its potential applications. ...Fabrication of advanced PDMS foam materials with multiple functionalities remains a critical challenge. In this study, unprecedented self‐adhesive PDMS foam materials are reported with worm‐like rough structure and reactive groups for fabricating multifunctional PDMS foam nanocomposites decorated with MXene/cellulose nanofiber (MXene/CNF) interconnected network by a facile silicone foaming and dip‐coating strategy followed by silane surface modification. Interestingly, such self‐adhesive PDMS foam produces strong interfacial adhesion with the hybrid MXene/CNF nano‐coatings. Consequently, the optimized PDMS foam nanocomposites have excellent surface super‐hydrophobicity (water contact angle of ≈159o), tunable electrical conductivity (from 10−8 to 10 S m−1), stable compressive cyclic reliability in both wide‐temperature range (from −20 to 200 oC) and complex environments (acid, sodium, and alkali conditions), outstanding flame resistance (LOI value of >27% and low smoke production rate), good thermal insulating performance and reliable strain sensing in various stress modes and complex environmental conditions. It provides a new route for the rational design and development of advanced PDMS foam nanocomposites with versatile multifunctionalities for various promising applications such as intelligent healthcare monitoring and fire‐safe thermal insulation.

Boronate affinity materials, as unique sorbents, have emerged as important media for the selective separation and molecular recognition of cis-diol-containing compounds. With the introduction of ...boronic acid functionality, boronate affinity materials exhibit several significant advantages, including broad-spectrum selectivity, reversible covalent binding, pH-controlled capture/release, fast association/desorption kinetics, and good compatibility with mass spectrometry. Because cis-diol-containing biomolecules, including nucleosides, saccharides, glycans, glycoproteins and so on, are the important targets in current research frontiers such as metabolomics, glycomics and proteomics, boronate affinity materials have gained rapid development and found increasing applications in the last decade. In this review, we critically survey recent advances in boronate affinity materials. We focus on fundamental considerations as well as important progress and new boronate affinity materials reported in the last decade. We particularly discuss on the effects of the structure of boronate ligands and supporting materials on the properties of boronate affinity materials, such as binding pH, affinity, selectivity, binding capacity, tolerance for interference and so on. A variety of promising applications, including affinity separation, proteomics, metabolomics, disease diagnostics and aptamer selection, are introduced with main emphasis on how boronate affinity materials can solve the issues in the applications and what merits boronate affinity materials can provide.
In empirical corporate finance, firm size is commonly used as an important, fundamental firm characteristic. However, no research comprehensively assesses the sensitivity of empirical results in ...corporate finance to different measures of firm size. This paper fills this hole by providing empirical evidence for a “measurement effect” in the “size effect”. In particular, we examine the influences of employing different proxies (total assets, total sales, and market capitalization) of firm size in 20 prominent areas in empirical corporate finance research. We highlight several empirical implications. First, in most areas of corporate finance the coefficients of firm size measures are robust in sign and statistical significance. Second, the coefficients on regressors other than firm size often change sign and significance when different size measures are used. Unfortunately, this suggests that some previous studies are not robust to different firm size proxies. Third, the goodness of fit measured by R-squared also varies with different size measures, suggesting that some measures are more relevant than others in different situations. Fourth, different proxies capture different aspects of “firm size”, and thus have different implications. Therefore, the choice of size measures needs both theoretical and empirical justification. Finally, our empirical assessment provides guidance to empirical corporate finance researchers who must use firm size measures in their work.
Macroautophagy/autophagy is an essential, conserved self-eating process that cells perform to allow degradation of intracellular components, including soluble proteins, aggregated proteins, ...organelles, macromolecular complexes, and foreign bodies. The process requires formation of a double-membrane structure containing the sequestered cytoplasmic material, the autophagosome, that ultimately fuses with the lysosome. This review will define this process and the cellular pathways required, from the formation of the double membrane to the fusion with lysosomes in molecular terms, and in particular highlight the recent progress in our understanding of this complex process.
