In this paper we present a new technique for reducing the discretization error in the transmission line matrix (TLM) method at arbitrarily shaped interfaces between two contrasting media. TLM employs ...cuboid mesh elements which are not conformal with curved or slanted interfaces, resulting in stair-casing and a potentially large modeling error. This error can be reduced by an order of magnitude through modification of the constitutive parameters of cells that straddle an interface between two media. Novel expressions for this modification procedure are derived and validated in this paper.
In this paper, a SPICE-compatible full-wave equivalent circuit model, based on the method of moments, for three dimensional printed circuit structure has been developed. It could be easily integrated ...into any circuit-based simulator to analyze the effects of the printed circuit board interconnects on high-speed circuit performance. The predicted results using the method proposed in this paper and the experimental results are in good agreement.
This paper aims to design a robust closed-loop control strategy for the conventional DC-DC buck power converter feeding a mixed load (Resistive load + Constant Power Load). The strategy has been ...designed based on passivity-based control (PBC) approach with nonlinear disturbance observer (NDO). PBC approach guarantees the system stability due its property of energy dissipation through damping injection, while NDO insures the robustness against parameter uncertainties and disturbances of the system. Based on disturbance estimation technique, NDO works as a "patch" to existing controller by compensating the undesired disturbances through feed-forward channel. To verify the control performance of the proposed controller, a fair comparison had been obtained between; passivity-based control, passivity-based control plus integral (PBC+I), and proposed criterion PBC+NDO. PBC+NDO presents the fastest recovery performance, less overshoot, and shortest settling time during disturbance occurrence. The results have been validated using OPAL-RT real-time digital simulator.
Efficient modeling method is presented for analysis of multilayer power-ground planes with multiple vias coupled to signal traces in an electronic package. A key feature of the proposed method is ...that applying modal decoupling in power distribution network (PDN) of the package to extract equivalent network parameters. The method has been experimentally validated and examined.
The optical response in visible wavelengths of a single-chain of elliptical silver nanowires is investigated for different separation distances and illumination directions. The efficient and simple ...method, surface integral equation, is used to characterize the above arrays. The results show that the occurrence and magnitude of plasmon resonances as well as the field intensity are depended on these parameters. Strong field enhancement can be observed in the gap between nanowires of the single chain.
Based on a full-wave equivalent circuit approach, one could easily predict the potential difference of a signal return conductor on a printed circuit board (PCB) as well as the common-mode (CM) ...current on any conductor that attached to the PCB. With the predicted ground bounce and CM current, their relationsip is investigated.
A fast technique based on the volume integral equation and the adaptive integral method is presented for efficient analysis of electromagnetic transmission through arbitrarily shaped dielectric ...radomes. The method of moments is used to discretize and to convert the resultant integral equation into a matrix equation. Then adaptive integral method is applied to reduce the memory requirement for matrix storage and to accelerate the matrix-vector multiplication. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the applicability of the method.
In summary, we have presented an H-shaped plasmonic coupler which is based on the metal-dielectric-metal based nano-slot waveguides. The analyses of the plasmonic coupler have been carried out by ...using the volume integral equation method. The parametric studies of several geometry parameters have also been performed. From the results we obtained, it is found that light can be efficiently coupled into different ports and the operating wavelength of the coupler can be effectively tuned by varying the ratio between width a and b.
