As Video Streaming and Analytics (VSA) systems become increasingly popular, serious privacy concerns have risen on exposing too much unnecessary private information to the VSA providers. Yet, it is ...challenging to protect privacy while still preserving desired VSA features, i.e., effective analytics, forensic support, resource efficiency, and real-time execution. In this paper, we present a VSA privacy enhancement system (PECAM), which addresses the above challenge with no change in the VSA back-end. PECAM leverages a novel Generative Adversarial Network to perform the privacy-enhanced securely-reversible video transformation. PECAM also incorporates a couple of system optimizations into its VSA workflow to reduce network bandwidth usage and enable real-time processing on cameras. We implement our PECAM prototype on commodity hardware and evaluate its performance via both security study and extensive experiments. Results demonstrate that PECAM can effectively enhance the visual privacy of VSA in the presence of an adversary, and its transformed videos, when taken as input for various VSA back-end tasks, maintain a 96% accuracy of corresponding original videos. Additionally, it performs 12.3× and 1.8× better than baseline methods in terms of the computing cost and network bandwidth usage, respectively.
Welding robots application can greatly enhance the production efficiency. And effective welding robot path planning is important for improving the efficiency of welding robot. Due to its simplicity, ...high search accuracy and fast convergence rate, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was used to study welding robot in this paper. A novel hybrid discrete PSO algorithm (HDPSO) was proposed to improve the basic discrete PSO after the light ray optimization, genetic algorithm and chaos optimization strategies were combined first. Then, the HDPSO was used to solve 3-dimensional welding path planning problem. Besides, a welding robot path planning simulation system was designed to realize user friendly path planning, and its practicality was verified by performance test.
Usability testing is vital for enhancing the user experience (UX) of interactive systems. However, analyzing test videos is complex and resource-intensive. Recent AI advancements have spurred ...exploration into human-AI collaboration for UX analysis, particularly through natural language. Unlike user-initiated dialogue, our study investigated the potential of proactive conversational assistants to aid UX evaluators through automatic suggestions at three distinct times: before, in sync with, and after potential usability problems. We conducted a hybrid Wizard-of-Oz study involving 24 UX evaluators, using ChatGPT to generate automatic problem suggestions and a human actor to respond to impromptu questions. While timing did not significantly impact analytic performance, suggestions appearing after potential problems were preferred, enhancing trust and efficiency. Participants found the automatic suggestions useful, but they collectively identified more than twice as many problems, underscoring the irreplaceable role of human expertise. Our findings also offer insights into future human-AI collaborative tools for UX evaluation.
Autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT) is the standard treatment for R/R B-NHL, while chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) therapy targeting CD19 emerges as an alternative strategy. Here we ...report a comparative analysis of the two strategies in a single center.
We performed a prospective single-arm study of CAR-T therapy in 29 patients with R/R B-NHL and compared the outcomes with contemporaneous 27 patients who received ASCT. NHL was diagnosed by histopathological assessments, and the safety and efficacy were compared.
The CAR-T group exhibited better rates of CR (48.0% vs. 20.8%, P=0.046) and one-year OS (74.4% vs. 44.5%, P=0.044) compared with the ASCT group. Subpopulation analysis showed that patients with IPI scores ≥ 3 achieved significantly higher ORR and CR rates in the CAR-T group than in the ASCT group (ORR: 72.0% vs. 10.0%, P=0.002; CR: 38.9% vs 0% P=0.030, respectively). The most common severe adverse events in the CAR-T group were cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity and infection compared with cytopenia, gastrointestinal toxicity and infection in the ASCT group. Additionally, the incidence of non-hematologic severe adverse events (SAEs) was markedly lower in the CAR-T group than in the ASCT group (20.7% vs. 48.1% P=0.030).
CAR-T therapy exhibited superior clinical outcomes in safety and efficacy over ASCT in patients with R/R B-NHL, suggesting CAR-T may be a recommended alternative to ASCT.
Due to the high preparation cost and complex process of traditional crystalline silicon solar cells, people are studying new solar cell power generation technologies. Metal halide perovskite solar ...cells have become the most promising category in the next generation of solar cells because of their high power conversion efficiency, extremely low cost, and simple manufacturing technology. So far, perovskite solar cells based on rigid substrates have achieved over 26% power conversion efficiency. Flexible semi-transparent perovskite solar cells have attracted the attention of researchers due to their wide range of application scenarios. This article first introduces the basic principles of perovskite solar cells. Then, the research related to transparent electrodes in flexible semi-transparent perovskite solar cells is discussed, including key technologies of transparent electrodes. Afterwards, the application of flexible semi-transparent solar cells in greenhouse agriculture is analyzed and introduced. Finally, the further developments of flexible semi-transparent perovskite solar cells are summarized and prospected.
Purpose : The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of the 'Made in China, Made with the World' advertisement broadcast on the US television station CNN in 2009 and derives ...recommendations for China's further efforts in promoting the image of products made in China (PMC). Design/methodology/approach : Through a survey based on the Solomon four-group design, this study collected primary data from 546 students at an American university in 2010 and used the data to test the effectiveness of the CNN advertisement and identify factors that affect the respondents' perceptions about PMC. Findings : Statistical tests indicate that the TV advertisement did not result in the expected effects and even had some boomerang effects on the perceptions about PMC and China's developments, and regression analysis confirms these conclusions. Also, the TV advertisement received low ratings from the respondents in credibility, trustworthiness, rationality, information, stimulation, and excitability. Practical implications : As exports continue to play an important role in the Chinese economy and PMC are likely to face more challenges in the global markets, China needs to understand both consumer preferences and product safety regulations in the foreign markets, focus more on quality and safety over low prices, and improve the effectiveness of its promotion efforts on the basis of scientifically sound studies. Originality/value : While the CNN TV advertisement was China's first TV campaign abroad to enhance the image of PMC, this paper presents one of the first studies for assessing the effectiveness of the advertisement and deriving recommendations for China's further efforts in promoting PMC.
Mathematical formulas are ubiquitous in courses such as Machine Learning. Understanding these formulas is the primary challenge for studying of students. If a searchable knowledge base can be built ...for these formulas, it will help students learn. Accurate identification of these formulas is an important step in building and querying the knowledge base. However, mathematical formulas have complex two-dimensional and nested structures, which makes them inconvenient to search like ordinary text. This paper employs Faster R-CNN to detect regions containing mathematical formulas and improves its backbone network, anchor box dimensions, and pre-training network to make it more accurate and efficient in identifing these formulas. Furthermore, in order to enhance the features and meaningful representation of mathematical formulas in the input image, we introduce the distance transformation. Finally, comparative experiments were conducted on the publicly dataset GTDB. Our proposed approach achieved recognition rates of 91.22% and 85.74% for isolated and hybrid formulas detection.
In recent years, oriented object detection technology has made significant progress. Most oriented object detectors represent oriented bounding boxes by adding additional angle information to the ...horizontal bounding box representation, which leads to serious angle periodicity issues. To address these issues, this paper proposes double midpoint vectors (DMvectors) to represent oriented objects. For any oriented bounding box, we align the center point with the origin in the Cartesian coordinate system, and evenly distribute the midpoints of the box edges across the four quadrants. We use the midpoint of the first and second quadrants, as well as the width and height of the box, to represent the oriented bounding box. DMvectors solve the periodic problem of angles by implicitly including angle information in vectors. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conducted extensive experiments on two common remote sensing datasets (DOTA and HRSC2016), and our method achieved competitive results.
