We explored whether medical health workers had more psychosocial problems than nonmedical health workers during the COVID-19 outbreak.
An online survey was run from February 19 to March 6, 2020; a ...total of 2,182 Chinese subjects participated. Mental health variables were assessed via the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), the Symptom Check List-revised (SCL-90-R), and the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4), which included a 2-item anxiety scale and a 2-item depression scale (PHQ-2).
Compared with nonmedical health workers (n = 1,255), medical health workers (n = 927) had a higher prevalence of insomnia (38.4 vs. 30.5%, p < 0.01), anxiety (13.0 vs. 8.5%, p < 0.01), depression (12.2 vs. 9.5%; p< 0.04), somatization (1.6 vs. 0.4%; p < 0.01), and obsessive-compulsive symptoms (5.3 vs. 2.2%; p < 0.01). They also had higher total scores of ISI, GAD-2, PHQ-2, and SCL-90-R obsessive-compulsive symptoms (p ≤ 0.01). Among medical health workers, having organic disease was an independent factor for insomnia, anxiety, depression, somatization, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms (p < 0.05 or 0.01). Living in rural areas, being female, and being at risk of contact with COVID-19 patients were the most common risk factors for insomnia, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and depression (p < 0.01 or 0.05). Among nonmedical health workers, having organic disease was a risk factor for insomnia, depression, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms (p < 0.01 or 0.05).
During the COVID-19 outbreak, medical health workers had psychosocial problems and risk factors for developing them. They were in need of attention and recovery programs.
The SARS-CoV-2-infected disease (COVID-19) outbreak is a major threat to human beings. Previous studies mainly focused on Wuhan and typical symptoms. We analysed 74 confirmed COVID-19 cases with GI ...symptoms in the Zhejiang province to determine epidemiological, clinical and virological characteristics.
COVID-19 hospital patients were admitted in the Zhejiang province from 17 January 2020 to 8 February 2020. Epidemiological, demographic, clinical, laboratory, management and outcome data of patients with GI symptoms were analysed using multivariate analysis for risk of severe/critical type. Bioinformatics were used to analyse features of SARS-CoV-2 from Zhejiang province.
Among enrolled 651 patients, 74 (11.4%) presented with at least one GI symptom (nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea), average age of 46.14 years, 4-day incubation period and 10.8% had pre-existing liver disease. Of patients with COVID-19 with GI symptoms, 17 (22.97%) and 23 (31.08%) had severe/critical types and family clustering, respectively, significantly higher than those without GI symptoms, 47 (8.14%) and 118 (20.45%). Of patients with COVID-19 with GI symptoms, 29 (39.19%), 23 (31.08%), 8 (10.81%) and 16 (21.62%) had significantly higher rates of fever >38.5°C, fatigue, shortness of breath and headache, respectively. Low-dose glucocorticoids and antibiotics were administered to 14.86% and 41.89% of patients, respectively. Sputum production and increased lactate dehydrogenase/glucose levels were risk factors for severe/critical type. Bioinformatics showed sequence mutation of SARS-CoV-2 with m
A methylation and changed binding capacity with ACE2.
We report COVID-19 cases with GI symptoms with novel features outside Wuhan. Attention to patients with COVID-19 with non-classic symptoms should increase to protect health providers.
In this study Illumina MiSeq was performed to investigate microbial diversity in soil, leaves, grape, grape juice and wine. A total of 1,043,102 fungal Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) reads and ...2,422,188 high quality bacterial 16S rDNA sequences were used for taxonomic classification, revealed five fungal and eight bacterial phyla. At the genus level, the dominant fungi were Ascomycota, Sordariales, Tetracladium and Geomyces in soil, Aureobasidium and Pleosporaceae in grapes leaves, Aureobasidium in grape and grape juice. The dominant bacteria were Kaistobacter, Arthrobacter, Skermanella and Sphingomonas in soil, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter and Kaistobacter in grape and grapes leaves, and Oenococcus in grape juice and wine. Principal coordinate analysis showed structural separation between the composition of fungi and bacteria in all samples. This is the first study to understand microbiome population in soil, grape, grapes leaves, grape juice and wine in Xinjiang through High-throughput Sequencing and identify microorganisms like Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Oenococcus spp. that may contribute to the quality and flavor of wine.
Lithium (Li) metal is a promising anode material for high‐energy density batteries. However, the unstable and static solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) can be destroyed by the dynamic Li ...plating/stripping behavior on the Li anode surface, leading to side reactions and Li dendrites growth. Herein, we design a smart Li polyacrylic acid (LiPAA) SEI layer high elasticity to address the dynamic Li plating/stripping processes by self‐adapting interface regulation, which is demonstrated by in situ AFM. With the high binding ability and excellent stability of the LiPAA polymer, the smart SEI can significantly reduce the side reactions and improve battery safety markedly. Stable cycling of 700 h is achieved in the LiPAA‐Li/LiPAA‐Li symmetrical cell. The innovative strategy of self‐adapting SEI design is broadly applicable, providing opportunities for use in Li metal anodes
Stretching exercises: A flexible lithium polyacrylic acid (LiPAA) solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer which is highly stretchable is designed to address the dynamic volume changes during Li plating/stripping on the Li anode surface in Li ion batteries. The LiPAA polymer SEI can significantly reduce the side reactions and improve the safety performance.
Simultaneous electrochemical ring contraction and expansion reactions remain unexplored to date. Herein, the reductive electrosynthesis of heterocycle‐fused fulleroids from ...fullerotetrahydropyridazines and electrophiles in the presence of a trace amount of oxygen has been achieved with concurrent ring contraction and ring expansion. When trifluoroacetic acid and alkyl bromides are employed as electrophiles, heterocycle‐fused fulleroids with a 1,1,2,6‐configuration are regioselectively formed. In contrast, heterocycle‐fused fulleroids with a 1,1,4,6‐configuration are regioselectively produced as two separable stereoisomers if phthaloyl chloride is used as the electrophile. The reaction proceeds through multiple steps of electroreduction, heterocycle ring‐opening, oxygen oxidation, heterocycle contraction, fullerene cage expansion, and nucleophilic addition. The structures of these fulleroids have been determined by spectroscopic data and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analyses. The observed high regioselectivities have been rationalized by theoretical calculations. Representative fulleroids have been applied in organic solar cells as the third component and exhibit good performance.
The electrochemically triggered simultaneous ring contraction and expansion reaction of fullerotetrahydropyridazines with electrophiles in the presence of a trace amount of oxygen affords pyrazoline‐fused fulleroids with unprecedented 1,1,2,6‐ or 1,1,4,6‐addition patterns.
L., an ancient dioecious gymnosperm, is now cultivated worldwide for landscaping and medical purposes. A novel biflavonoid-amentoflavone 7''-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (
)-and four known biflavonoids were ...isolated and identified from the male flowers of
. The anti-proliferative activities of five biflavonoids were evaluated on different cancer lines. Bilobetin (
) and isoginkgetin (
) exhibited better anti-proliferative activities on different cancer lines. Their effects were found to be cell-specific and in a dose and time dependent manner for the most sensitive HeLa cells. The significant morphological changes validated their anticancer effects in a dose-dependent manner. They were capable of arresting the G2/M phase of the cell cycle, inducing the apoptosis of HeLa cells dose-dependently and activating the proapoptotic protein Bax and the executor caspase-3. Bilobetin (
) could also inhibit the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2. These might be the mechanism underlying their anti-proliferation. In short, bilobetin (
) and isoginkgetin (
) might be the early lead compounds for new anticancer agents.
Comprehensive Summary
The development of conjugated polymer photocatalysts for efficient solar‐to‐hydrogen energy conversion is highly desirable for the sustainability of our society. Although the ...construction of donor‐acceptor (D‐A) structure in conjugated polymer photocatalysts for solar‐to‐hydrogen energy conversion has been well documented, less attention has been paid on how large D and how large A units combined together could achieve the best performance. Herein, a series of D‐A copolymers P(BDT‐DBTSOx) (x = 7, 19, 39, and 79) composed of a benzodithiophene (BDT) donor unit and an oligomeric dibenzob, dthiophene sulfone (DBTSO) acceptor segment were synthesized and studied. It was found that the polymer photocatalytic stabilities under full‐arc irradiation improved upon shortening the length of the acceptor segment. Under visible light irradiation and in the presence of 3 wt% Pt cocatalyst, P(BDT‐DBTSO79) displayed the best performance with an optimal hydrogen evolution rate of 119.3 ± 5.8 mmol·g–1·h–1. This is 1.4‐fold as that of DBTSO homopolymer and 22.5‐fold as that of BDT/DBTSO alternative copolymer, highlighting the importance of acceptor length in D‐A structure for achieving high photocatalytic performance.
Photocatalytic performance of P(BDT‐DBTSOx) polymer in visible light‐driven hydrogen production from water can be finely tuned by adjusting the length of acceptor segment in its structure. And a remarkable hydrogen evolution rate as large as 119.3 ± 5.8 mmol·g–1·h–1 has been successfully achieved.
Developing efficient and wide spectrally acting photocatalysts for light-driven hydrogen production from water is highly desirable for solar energy conversion. Herein, diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) is ...used to combine with triphenylamine (TPA), bipyridyl (bdy), and biphenyl (bph) units for construction of conjugated microporous polymer photocatalysts. Although the synthesized two polymers, DPP-bdy-TPA and DPP-bph-TPA, have a similar framework structure, the former bearing a hydrophilic bipyridyl unit displays much better photocatalytic performance with hydrogen production rates of 6918 and 2780 μmol g–1 h–1 under a full-arc xenon lamp and visible light (>440 nm) illumination, respectively. Moreover, DPP-bdy-TPA has a wide photoaction spectrum with apparent quantum yields of 9.60% at 420 nm, 7.32% at 500 nm, and 0.31% at 600 nm, the so high values rarely achieved by present-known organic semiconductor photocatalysts. These results undoubtedly prove DPP is an excellent building block, and this work well exemplifies its utilization for construction of high-performance photocatalysts.
We report the controlled synthesis and structures of two isomeric gold nanoclusters, whose compositions are determined to be Au23(CCBut)15 (denoted as Au 23 -1 and Au 23 -2) by single-crystal X-ray ...diffraction and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. This is the first time isomerism is discovered in alkynyl-protected gold nanoclusters. The metal-to-ligand ratios in these two clusters are different from known Au n (SR) m systems and have not been observed in the Au x (CCPh) y family. This pair of isomers exhibits different optical properties, although they have similar structures and identical components. For both Au23 clusters, time-dependent density functional theory calculations revealed the frontier orbitals highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO)–1, HOMO, and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) are mainly constructed from the Au15 kernel and V-shaped alkynyl–gold motifs. The HOMO → LUMO transition of Au 23 -1 is optically forbidden, whereas it is allowed in Au 23 -2. It is also found that Au 23 -2 cluster can be transformed to Au 23 -1 spontaneously under ambient conditions. This work offers further insight into the synthesis and isomerism of all-alkynyl-protected gold nanoclusters and will stimulate more investigation of isomeric metal nanoclusters.
