We attempted to employ convolutional neural networks to extract visual features and developed recurrent neural networks for weather property estimation using only image data. Four common weather ...properties are estimated, i.e., temperature, humidity, visibility, and wind speed. Based on the success of previous works on temperature prediction, we extended them in terms of two aspects. First, by considering the effectiveness of deep multi-task learning, we jointly estimated four weather properties on the basis of the same visual information. Second, we propose that weather property estimations considering temporal evolution can be conducted from two perspectives, i.e., day-wise or hour-wise. A two-dimensional recurrent neural network is thus proposed to unify the two perspectives. In the evaluation, we show that better prediction accuracy can be obtained compared to the state-of-the-art models. We believe that the proposed approach is the first visual weather property estimation model trained based on multi-task learning.
Badminton is a sport demanding both high aerobic and anaerobic fitness levels, and fatigue can significantly impact game performance. However, relevant studies are limited, and none have employed a ...wearable inertial measurement unit (IMU) to investigate the effects of fatigue on athletic performance in the field.
Overall performance and body acceleration in both time and frequency domains during the fundamental badminton skills of vertical jumping and changes of direction will be affected by fatigue.
Cross-sectional study.
Level 3.
A total of 38 young badminton players competing at the Division I level participated. Body accelerations while performing vertical jump and agility-T tests before and immediately after undergoing a fatigue protocol were measured by an IMU, positioned at the L4 to L5 level.
Jumping height decreased significantly by 4 cm (
< 0.01) after fatigue with greater downward acceleration (1.03 m/s
,
< 0.05) during the squatting subphase. Finishing time increased significantly by 50 ms only during the 10-m side-shuffling of the agility-T test (
= 0.02) after fatigue with greater peak and mean accelerations (3.83 m/s
,
= 0.04; 0.43 m/s
,
< 0.01), and higher median and mean frequency (0.38 Hz,
= 0.04, 0.11 Hz,
= 0.01).
This study using a wearable IMU demonstrates the effects of fatigue on body acceleration in badminton players. The frequency-domain analysis further indicated that fatigue might lead to loss of voluntary control of active muscles and increased impacts on the passive elastic elements.
The findings imply that fatigue can lead to diminished athletic performance and highlight the potential for an increased risk of sports injuries. Consequently, maintaining precision in monitoring fatigue is crucial for elite young badminton players.
With the trend of technology development and carbon reduction, reducing the process temperature to prevent greenhouse effects is of great urgency. The back-end process of semiconductors is ...increasingly important because of the limitation of Moore’s Law. High-temperature bonding is serious for semiconductor packages, which induces high cost and device damage. One of the critical ways to reduce the process temperature is to adopt low-temperature solders. In this study, we utilize the low-temperature solder Sn58Bi to achieve energy savings and device protection. The interfacial reactions between Sn58Bi and Cu after reflow and aging reactions were investigated. The solubility of Bi in Sn influences the Bi segregation at the interface. Partial Bi segregation, microvoids, and uneven Cu

Sn were observed at the interface after aging. There is no doubt that the aforementioned structures are unfavorable for solder joint strength.
Conventional camera designs usually shun sample irregularities and lens aberrations. We demonstrate that such irregularities and aberrations, when properly applied, can improve the quality and ...usability of light field cameras. Examples include spherical aberrations for the mainlens, and misaligned sampling patterns for the microlens and photosensor elements. These observations are a natural consequence of a key difference between conventional and light field cameras: optimizing for a single captured 2D image versus a range of reprojected 2D images from a captured 4D light field. We propose designs in mainlens aberrations and microlens/photosensor sample patterns, and evaluate them through simulated measurements and captured results with our hardware prototype.

Loopy belief propagation (BP) is an effective solution for assigning labels to the nodes of a graphical model such as the Markov random field (MRF), but it requires high memory, bandwidth, and ...computational costs. Furthermore, the iterative, pixel-wise, and sequential operations of BP make it difficult to parallelize the computation. In this paper, we propose two techniques to address these issues. The first technique is a new message passing scheme named tile-based BP that reduces the memory and bandwidth to a fraction of the ordinary BP algorithms without performance degradation by splitting the MRF into many tiles and only storing the messages across the neighboring tiles. The tile-wise processing also enables data reuse and pipeline, resulting in efficient hardware implementation. The second technique is an O ( L ) fast message construction algorithm that exploits the properties of robust functions for parallelization. We apply these two techniques to a very large-scale integration circuit for stereo matching that generates high-resolution disparity maps in near real-time. We also implement the proposed schemes on graphics processing unit (GPU) which is four-time faster than standard BP on GPU.
•A combination of Bi and In solder significantly reduces the bonding temperature and carbon emissions.•In segregation between scallop and layer Cu11In9 induced CuIn2 formation in the middle of ...Cu11In9 after aging.•CuIn2 formation originated from the In segregation because the peritectic reaction from Cu11In9+In to CuIn2 after aging.•Scallop Cu11In9, layer CuIn2, and wavy Cu11In9 formation from solder to Cu side after aging.
Low-temperature solders are considered eco-friendly because of lowered wasted power, warpage, electromigration. In addition, chips are becoming increasingly integrated so as to achieve superior performance. Semiconductor packaging has moved from two-dimensional to three-dimensional integrated-circuits with vertical stacking for increased functionality. Thermal budget impacts electronic device manufacture, specifically in heterogeneous integration. Therefore, reduction of process temperatures is necessary.
Bi and In were selected in this study because they are commercial solders with low-melting points. Further, the microstructures and interfacial reactions of Bi–In solders have not been extensively studied. This study entailed a systematic examination of the interfacial reactions occurring between Bi67In and Cu metallization upon reflow and subsequent aging was performed.
It was observed that In segregates in the middle region of Cu11In9 after reflow. The phase transformations from Cu11In9 to CuIn2 start in the In segregation region. This remarkable phenomenon warrants in-depth research.

One common way to extend the battery life of a portable device is to reduce the LCD backlight intensity. In contrast to previous approaches that minimize the power consumption by adjusting the ...backlight intensity frame by frame to reach a specified image quality, the proposed method optimizes the image quality for a given backlight intensity. Image is enhanced by performing brightness compensation and local contrast enhancement. For brightness compensation, global image statistics and backlight level are considered to maintain the overall brightness of the image. For contrast enhancement, the local contrast property of human visual system (HVS) is exploited to enhance the local image details. In addition, a brightness prediction scheme is proposed to speed up the algorithm for display of video sequences. Experimental results are presented to show the performance of the algorithm.

We present a deep neural network (DNN) that uses both sensor data (gyroscope) and image content (optical flow) to stabilize videos through unsupervised learning. The network fuses optical flow with ...real/virtual camera pose histories into a joint motion representation. Next, the LSTM cell infers the new virtual camera pose, which is used to generate a warping grid that stabilizes the video frames. We adopt a relative motion representation as well as a multi-stage training strategy to optimize our model without any supervision. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first DNN solution that adopts both sensor data and image content for video stabilization. We validate the proposed framework through ablation studies and demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-art alternative solutions via quantitative evaluations and a user study. The biggest challenge in fostering social commerce is to stimulate the willingness of social media influencers (SMIs) to create unboxing reviews of products and to impact customers' attitudes and ...purchase intentions. This study integrated the social exchange and social capital theories to construct a model for investigating SMIs' willingness to create unboxing reviews. In addition, this study employed the social learning theory to quantify the impact of word-of-mouth on customers' attitudes and purchase intentions. The results may aid in the identification of the motivations underlying SMIs' willingness to create unboxing reviews and the factors that influence customers' attitudes and purchase intentions. The implications of theory, practice, and future research are also discussed.
The concept of early administration of P2Y12 inhibitor in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is widely accepted, but ...whether prehospital administration results in greater coronary reperfusion remains unclear. Our study aims to analyze the benefit and safety of prehospital P2Y12 inhibitor compared to in-hospital P2Y12 inhibitor administration.
Three databases (PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library) were searched from database inception to June 2023. We included all types of studies except for conference publications, abstract presentations, reviews, and case reports. The primary outcomes were pre-PCI TIMI flow grade 2-3 (TIMI = Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction) and major bleeding. The secondary outcomes included post-PCI TIMI flow grade 2-3, major adverse cardiac events (MACE), recurrent myocardial infarction (MI), and short-term (30-day) mortality.
Eight individual studies with a total of 10823 patients were included in our meta-analysis. Compared with in-hospital P2Y12 inhibitor, prehospital P2Y12 inhibitor were associated with significantly higher rates of pre-PCI TIMI flow grade 2-3 (OR 1.32, 95% CI: 1.09-1.61,
= 0.005) and post-PCI TIMI flow grade 2-3 (OR 1.43, 95% CI: 1.04-1.97,
= 0.03), and a significantly lower risk of recurrent MI (OR 0.69, 95% CI: 0.49-0.96,
= 0.03). There were no significant difference in the risk of major bleeding (OR 1.00, 95% CI: 0.75-1.32,
= 0.98), MACE (OR 0.94, 95% CI: 0.70-1.25,
= 0.65), or short-term mortality (OR 0.87, 95% CI: 0.50-1.51,
= 0.61).
Prehospital P2Y12 inhibitor compared to in-hospital P2Y12 inhibitor is associated with a significantly higher rate of pre-PCI and post-PCI TIMI flow grade 2-3, a reduced risk of recurrent MI, and no increase in major bleeding in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI.
