Recent studies have demonstrated that first-line nurses involved in the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) crisis may experience sleep disturbances. As breathing relaxation techniques can improve ...sleep quality, anxiety, and depression, the current study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of diaphragmatic breathing relaxation training (DBRT) for improving sleep quality among nurses in Wuhan, China during the COVID-19 outbreak.
This study used a quasi-experimental (before and after) intervention strategy, with 151 first-line nurses from four wards in Leishenshan hospital. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) to evaluate the effectiveness of DBRT before and after the intervention. Data were examined using the Shapiro–Wilk test, Levene's test, and paired t-test.
A total of 140 nurses completed the DBRT sessions. First-line nurses achieved significant reductions in global sleep quality (p < 0.01), subjective sleep quality (p < 0.001), sleep latency (p < 0.01), sleep duration (p < 0.001), sleep disturbances (p < 0.001), habitual sleep efficiency (p = 0.015), daytime dysfunction (p = 0.001), and anxiety (p = 0.001). There were no significant reductions in the use of sleeping medication (p = 0.134) and depression (p = 0.359).
DBRT is a useful non-pharmacological treatment for improving sleep quality and reducing anxiety among first-line nurses involved in the COVID-19 outbreak.
The study protocol was clinically registered by the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry. Clinical Trial Registration number: ChiCTR2000032743.
•The COVID-19 epidemic has implications for general public health.•Sleep quality and anxiety are affected in COVID-19 first-line nurses.•DBRT can improve sleep quality and anxiety.•DBRT promotes the development of non-drug therapies in mind-body medicine.
With the rapid development of 5G and vehicular ad hoc network (VANET), the data fusion plays an increasingly important role in the driving behaviour assessment. However, the unreasonable distribution ...of conflicting evidence remains a significant issue for decision fusion based on evidence theory. By analysing the parameter information of driving behaviour recognition, this paper proposed a new weighted evidence combination approach to fuse the highly conflicting information. In short, the proposed combination method not only retains the excellent mathematical characteristics of Dempster's combination rule, but also fully considers the mutual relations between evidences and the influence of the characteristics of evidence body. Firstly, a new dissimilarity measure is put forward to quantify the conflict degree between the evidences. Furthermore, the uncertainty measure and internal conflict are adopted to determine the weight of each evidence. Based on the weighted averaging combination method, the reasonable combined results are obtained. According to the experimental results, the proposed method has better performance than the existing methods, and provides an effective solution for driving behaviour assessment.
•A relatively low prevalence of surgical site infection (SSI) but high prevalence of antibiotic resistance of pathogens after colorectal surgery was observed in China.•A modest decrease in the ...prevalence rate of CRS SSI was observed in China.•Controversies were commonly detected among those surveys, including this study, exploring risk factors of SSI after colorectal surgery, and well-designed cohort with large population or meta-analysis are needed in the future.
Surgical site infection (SSI) after colorectal surgery (CRS) remains a significant problem for its negative clinical outcomes. However, it is poorly understood in China. This study aims to investigate the incidence, risk factors and microbiology of SSI after CRS.
A nationwide prospective multicenter design was applied. Patients in 19 Chinese hospitals from 2015 to 2018 were prospectively monitored for SSI after CRS. Demographic data, hospital characteristics, and potential perioperative risk factors were collected and analyzed, using univariate and multivariate logistic regression models.
Among 3,663 study participants, 134(3.66%) episodes of SSI were identified. The incidence rate of SSI decreased from 5.9 infections per 100 procedures in 2015 to 3.1 infections per 100 procedures in 2018 (incidence rate ratio, 0.52; 95% CI, 0.28–0.94). The SSI rates were 1.88, 4.15, 6.27 and 11.58 per 100 operations for the National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance system (NNIS) risk index categories of 0, 1, and 2 or 3, respectively. Escherichia coli (54/134, 40.3%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (10/134, 7.5%) were the most frequently isolated microorganisms. A high prevalence of antibiotic resistance were observed in our study, with rates of extended spectrum beta-lactamase-producing or carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia of 50.0%(27/54) and 30.0%(3/10) respectively. Preoperative hospital stay ≥ 48h (OR=2.28, 95% CI: 1.03-5.02, P=0.042) and contaminated or dirty wound (OR=3.38, 95% CI: 1.88-6.06, P=4.50×10−5) were significantly associated with increasing risk of SSI after CRS.
A statistically significant but modest decrease in the incidence rate of CRS SSI over the 4-year study period was observed in this study. Noticeably, the relatively high rates of multidrug-resistant pathogens causing SSI after CRS should be alert, while more studies with large population are needed due to the small number of isolates identified in our survey.
Liposomal photoelectrochemical (PEC) bioanalysis has recently emerged and exhibited great potential in sensitive biomolecular detection. Exploration of the facile and efficient route for advanced ...liposomal PEC bioanalysis is highly appealing. In this work, we report the split-type liposomal PEC immunoassay system consisting of sandwich immunorecognition, CdS quantum dots (QDs)-loaded liposomes (QDLL), and the release and subsequent capture of the QDs by a separated TiO2 nanotubes (NTs) electrode. The system elegantly operated upon the protein binding and lysis treatment of CdS QDLL labels within the 96-well plate, and then the CdS QDs-enabled sensitization of TiO2 NTs electrode. Exemplified by cardiac markers troponin I (cTnI) as target, the proposed system achieved efficient activation of TiO2 NTs electrode and thus the signal generation toward the split-type PEC immunoassay. This work features the first use of QDs for liposomal PEC bioanalysis and is expected to inspire more interests in the design and implementation of numerous QDs-involved liposomal PEC bioanalysis.

From January to October 2020, 54 patients ...after PCI were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n = 27) and the control group (n = 27). The intervention group received the mobile app-based multidisciplinary exercise management, whereas the control group received routine care. The patients after PCI began to take intervention one month after the operation, and the intervention lasted for two months. Before and after the intervention, 6-Minute Walking Distance was used to evaluate the patient's exercise tolerance, and the patient's exercise compliance was evaluated according to the patient's exercise status recorded by the mobile application. The cognitive questionnaire on knowledge about PCI treatment for Coronary Heart Disease, the Self-efficacy for Chronic Disease Scale and the Perceived Social Support Scale were used to evaluate patients' disease-related cognition, self-efficacy and perception of social support. This study was registered on Clinical Trials.gov with registration number ChiCTR2000028930.
Totally 51 patients after PCI who completed this study (25 patients in the intervention group and 26 patients in the control group) were included in the analysis. After 2 months of intervention, the exercise compliance of patients in the intervention group was better than that in the control group. And 6-Minute Walking Distance (469.36 ± 57.48 vs. 432.81 ± 67.09), and the scores of knowledge of PCI treatment for coronary heart disease (52.64 ± 9.82 vs. 42.42 ± 8.54), Self-efficacy for Chronic Disease Scale (42.40 ± 8.04 vs. 36.88 ± 7.73) and Perceived Social Support Scale (74.04 ± 5.73 vs. 66.69 ± 6.86) in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group with statistical significance (P < 0.05).
The multidisciplinary exercise management based on the mobile app can effectively improve exercise tolerance, exercise compliance, disease-related cognition, self-efficacy, and perception of social support during exercise training for patients after PCI.
To investigate the relationship between rumination, coping strategies, and subjective well-being (SWB) and test the mediating effects of coping strategies on rumination and SWB in patients with ...breast cancer (BC).
This cross-sectional study assessed rumination, coping strategies, and SWB using the General Well-being Schedule, the Chinese Event-Related Rumination Inventory, and the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire in BC patients admitted to a tertiary general hospital in China.
SWB was positively associated with the total score for rumination (r = .32, p < .01), deliberate rumination (r = .75, p < .01), and confrontation (r = .58, p < .01). The relationship between rumination and SWB was mediated by confrontation (indirect effect = .74).
BC diagnosis can affect patient's SWB. These findings indicate that rumination and confrontation have direct and indirect effects on SWB. Therefore, psychological interventions focused on improving coping may increase SWB. Notwithstanding, larger longitudinal studies are needed to further examine the relationship between cognitive processes, coping strategies, and SWB.

The utilization of organic piezoelectric materials for efficient mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion has gained considerable attention. However, the inherent tendency of organic crystals to ...crystallize in centrosymmetric space groups poses a significant obstacle in realizing their piezoelectric potential. To overcome this challenge, we present an effective synthetic strategy to design non-centrosymmetric crystal structures based on porous organic cages (POCs). By employing post-synthetic modification and anion regulation techniques, we successfully synthesized a family of non-centrosymmetric POCs and demonstrated their potential applications in piezoelectric energy harvesting. Among these materials, RCC3-SO4 exhibited excellent performance when incorporated into energy-harvesting devices, delivering an impressive open-circuit voltage of up to 5.4 V and a short-circuit current of up to 0.8 μA. These findings mark an important step forward in the field and pave the way for further advancements in organic piezoelectric materials and their practical implementation in energy-harvesting systems.

These materials were subsequently integrated into compact, portable devices, showing excellent energy-harvesting capabilities that surpass most previously reported organic materials’ piezoelectric performance.
To analyze the correlations between family care, coping strategies and the subject well-being (SWB) of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
From ...November 2019 to October 2020, 264 CHD patients who had undergone PCI were enrolled in this questionnaire survey. The research tools applied included General Information Questionnaire, the Adaptation, Partnership, Growth, Affection and Resolve, Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire, and the General Well-being Schedule. SPSS 24.0 and Amos 23.0 software packages were used for statistical analysis.
The mean scores for family care, confrontation, avoidance, acceptance-resignation and SWB, were 7.59 ± 2.24, 20.03 ± 3.78, 16.49 ± 2.70, 10.42 ± 2.01, and 73.31 ± 11.63, respectively. Subgroup analysis showed that the path coefficient between family care and subjective well-being was higher in males than females. Family care was directly related to coping strategies. The coping strategies were directly related to SWB, while family care showed an indirect association with SWB via coping strategies.
Family care can improve CHD patients’ SWB post-PCI, and coping strategies are important for the link between family care and SWB. Also, men received more family care than women. Based on a patient's characteristics, healthcare providers can promote patients’ positive coping strategies, increase their perceived family care, and improve the patient's SWB.
