To reveal the relationship between Body Mass Index(BMI), type 2 diabetes, and bone mineral density(BMD) using a mendelian randomization (MR) approach. GWAS data on BMI, type 2 diabetes, and BMD were ...selected from the IEU GWAS database at the University of Bristol.Univariable, multivariable, and mediated MR analyses were used to explore the relationship between BMI, type 2 diabetes, and BMD. beta(beta) values were given, and three methods, including inverse variance weighting, MR-Egger regression, and weighted median, were used in this analysis. Univariable mendelian randomization (UVMR) results showed that BMI and type 2 diabetes were positively associated with BMD. However, the association between BMI and BMD was insignificant in the multivariable Mendelian randomization (MVMR) analysis, while that between type 2 diabetes and BMD remained significant. Mediated MR analysis indicated that type 2 diabetes mediated the regulation of BMD by BMI. This study provides evidence supporting a positive causal association between BMI, type 2 diabetes, and BMD. Type 2 diabetes acts as a mediator in the regulation of BMD by BMI, indicating that both BMI and type 2 diabetes exert a protective influence on BMD.

Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) for treating coal gasification wastewater (CGW) was achieved successfully in a lab-scale sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR) by oxygen-limited aeration. SND efficiency increased gradually with the concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO) decreased from 4.5mg/L to 0.35mg/L. The maximum SND efficiency of 81.23% was obtained at DO concentration of 0.35mg/L, and the corresponding removal efficiency of NH4+-N and TN reached 76.91% and 70.23%, respectively. Meanwhile, COD was removed significantly and toxic compounds were degraded into biodegradable substances, which relieved effectively the inhibition on nitrogen removal. The results indicated that oxygen-limited condition performed greater toxic compounds and nitrogen removal compared with the aerobic condition. Furthermore, the results of scanning electron microscopic (SEM) and microbial community structure confirmed robust biofilm formation provided a suitable anoxic micro-environment for co-existence of nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria and organics degradation bacteria in the reactor at oxygen-limited condition.
The Brassica genus encompasses three diploid and three allopolyploid genomes, but a clear understanding of the evolution of agriculturally important traits via polyploidy is lacking. We assembled an ...allopolyploid Brassica juncea genome by shotgun and single-molecule reads integrated to genomic and genetic maps. We discovered that the A subgenomes of B. juncea and Brassica napus each had independent origins. Results suggested that A subgenomes of B. juncea were of monophyletic origin and evolved into vegetable-use and oil-use subvarieties. Homoeolog expression dominance occurs between subgenomes of allopolyploid B. juncea, in which differentially expressed genes display more selection potential than neutral genes. Homoeolog expression dominance in B. juncea has facilitated selection of glucosinolate and lipid metabolism genes in subvarieties used as vegetables and for oil production. These homoeolog expression dominance relationships among Brassicaceae genomes have contributed to selection response, predicting the directional effects of selection in a polyploid crop genome.
Green credit policy is an innovative measure in the financial industry and can help enterprises reduce energy consumption, reverse the situation of environmental pollution and resource waste, and ...promote sustainable development of the economy and society based on guiding fund flows into the green environmental protection industry. This research thus uses panel data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2000 to 2017 to examine the impact of a green credit policy on the level of energy efficient utilization. We establish the EBM (epsilon-based measure) super-efficiency model to measure the level of energy efficient utilization in China, apply the regression discontinuity design (RDD) model to empirically study the net effect of the green credit policy on the level of energy efficient utilization, and assess the policy’s regional heterogeneity. Finds present that the level of energy efficient utilization in China exhibits a fluctuating upward trend, and there are certain spatial heterogeneities across its regions. The overall level of the eastern region’s energy efficient utilization is the best, followed by the central and western regions in that order. The results of RDD based on the national perspective indicate that the green credit policy has a significantly positive effect on the level of energy efficient utilization, while subregional regression results reveal that improvement caused by implementation of the green credit policy varies across regions in China. The performance of improving energy efficiency in the eastern region is excellent, but the improvement effect in the central and western regions is so far not desirable.
Hypoxia-ischemia (HI) during the perinatal period is one of the most common causes of acute mortality and chronic neurologic morbidity. Hydrogen-rich saline (HS) treatment in neonatal mice has been ...reported to alleviate brain injury following HI, but the mechanisms involved are not known.
A modified version of the Rice-Vannucci method for the induction of neonatal HI brain injury was performed on postnatal day 7 mouse pups. Animals or BV2-cells received HS and an AMPK inhibitor at indicative time post-injury.
In the current study, we show that HS treatment attenuated the accumulation of CD11b
/CD45
cells, suppressed HI-induced neuro-inflammation, induced microglial anti-inflammatory M2 polarization, was associated with promoting AMPK activation, and inhibited nuclear factor-κB activation as demonstrated both in vivo and in vitro. In addition, HS treatment reversed HI-induced neurological disabilities, was associated with improving damaged synapses, and restored the expression levels of synaptophysin and postsynaptic density protein 95 following HI insult. Furthermore, HI insult which increased levels of complement component C1q, C3, and C3aR1 was observed. Importantly, C1q deposited in the infarct core and lesion boundary zone following HI injury, was found to co-localize within regions of synapse loss, whereas HS treatment reversed these effects of HI on synapse loss and complement component levels. Notably, the AMPK inhibitor reversed the beneficial effects of HS as described above.
These results demonstrate that HS restored behavioral deficits after HI in neonatal mice. These beneficial effects, in part, involve promoting microglia M2 polarization and complement-mediated synapse loss via AMPK activation.

This 3 + 3IMCC could be run up to gram scale and from easily prepared starting materials. This 3 + 3IMCC, together with our previously reported 3 + 2IMCC strategy, can afford either the bicyclo2.2.2octane or bicyclo3.2.1octane skeletons from the similar starting materials by regulating the substituents on vinyl group.

mutant, which produces an exaggerated number of tillers compared to wild type plants, is caused by a gain-of-function mutation and is insensitive to exogenous SL treatment. The
D53
gene product shares predicted features with the class I Clp ATPase proteins and can form a complex with the α/β hydrolase protein DWARF14 (D14) and the F-box protein DWARF3 (D3), two previously identified signaling components potentially responsible for SL perception. We demonstrate that, in a D14- and D3-dependent manner, SLs induce D53 degradation by the proteasome and abrogate its activity in promoting axillary bud outgrowth. Our combined genetic and biochemical data reveal that D53 acts as a repressor of the SL signaling pathway, whose hormone-induced degradation represents a key molecular link between SL perception and responses.
In order to study the deterioration and mechanism of dry–wet cycles and sulfate attack on the performance of concrete in seaside and saline areas, the deterioration of compressive strength of ...concrete with different water cement ratios under different erosion environments (sodium sulfate soaking at room temperature and coupling of dry–wet cycling and sodium sulfate) was studied here. At the same time, ICT (industrial computed tomography) and NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) techniques were used to analyze the internal pore structure of concrete under different erosion environments. The results show that the compressive strength under different erosion environments increases first and then decreases, and the dry–wet cycle accelerates the sulfate erosion. With the increase of dry and wet cycles, larger pores are filled with erosion products and developed into small pores in the early stage of erosion; in the later stage of erosion, the proportion of larger pores increases, and cracks occur inside the sample. In the process of sulfate soaking and erosion, the smaller pores in the concrete account for the majority. As the sulfate erosion continues, the T2 spectrum distribution curve gradually moves right, and the signal intensity of the larger pores increases.
Success of modern agriculture relies heavily on breeding of crops with maximal regional adaptability and yield potentials. A major limiting factor for crop cultivation is their flowering time, which ...is strongly regulated by day length (photoperiod) and temperature. Here we report identification and characterization of Days to heading 7 ( DTH7 ), a major genetic locus underlying photoperiod sensitivity and grain yield in rice. Map-based cloning reveals that DTH7 encodes a pseudo-response regulator protein and its expression is regulated by photoperiod. We show that in long days DTH7 acts downstream of the photoreceptor phytochrome B to repress the expression of Ehd1 , an up-regulator of the “florigen” genes ( Hd3a and RFT1 ), leading to delayed flowering. Further, we find that haplotype combinations of DTH7 with Grain number, plant height, and heading date 7 ( Ghd7 ) and DTH8 correlate well with the heading date and grain yield of rice under different photoperiod conditions. Our data provide not only a macroscopic view of the genetic control of photoperiod sensitivity in rice but also a foundation for breeding of rice cultivars better adapted to the target environments using rational design.
Significance Flowering time is one of the best studied ecologically important traits under natural or human selection for adaptation of plants to specific local environments. Photoperiodic sensitivity is a major agronomic trait that tailors vegetative and reproductive growth to local climates and is thus particularly important for crop yield and quality. This study not only identifies a major quantitative trait locus underlying photoperiod sensitivity in rice ( Days to heading 7 , DTH7 ) but also demonstrates that various haplotype combinations of DTH7 with Grain number, plant height, and heading date 7 ( Ghd7 ) and DTH8 correlate well with the flowering time and grain yield of rice varieties under diverse cultivating conditions. Our results build a foundation for breeding of high-yield rice varieties with desired photosensitivity and optimum adaptation to the target environments.
In this study, the influence of temperature on biogas production efficiency and the microbial community structure was investigated in a two-phase anaerobic digestion reactor for co-digestion of cow ...manure and corn straw. The results illustrated that the contents of solluted chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) and volatile fatty acid (VFA) in the acidogenic phase and biogas production in the methanogenic phase maintained relatively higher levels at temperatures ranging from 35–25 °C. The methane content of biogas production could be maintained higher than 50% at temperatures above 25 °C. The microbial community structure analysis indicated that the dominant functional bacteria were Acinetobacter, Acetitomaculum, and Bacillus in the acidogenic phase and Cenarchaeum in the methanogenic phase at 35–25 °C. However, the performances of the acidogenic phase and the methanogenic phase could be significantly decreased at a lower temperature of 20 °C, and microbial activity was inhibited obviously. Accordingly, a low temperature was adverse for the performance of the acidogenic and methanogenic phases, while moderate temperatures above 25 °C were more conducive to high biogas production efficiency.
