The ALICE muon spectrometer will be employed to measure the production of vector mesons in Pb-Pb collisions. In this paper we show some results concerning a test of an ALICE tracking chamber ...prototype. Performance such as resolution and efficiency as a function of high voltage are reported.
The NA60 experiment has studied J/\(\psi\) production in Indium-Indium collisions at 158 A\(\cdot\)GeV. In this paper we present an updated set of results obtained with the complete set of available ...statistics and an improved alignment of the vertex tracker. The centrality dependence of the J/\(\psi\) production, obtained with an analysis technique based only on the J/\(\psi\) sample, indicates that a suppression beyond that induced by nuclear absorption is present in In-In collisions, setting in at \(\sim\)80 participant nucleons. A first study of the systematic errors related with this measurement is discussed. We also present preliminary results on the J/\(\psi\) azimuthal distributions.

The authors report a lysimeter experiment carried out in order to verify the nitrogen uptake and the nitrogen leaching when solid and liquid fertilizer were applied to a wheat crop completely before ...sowing or in split application. Differences in the recoveries between the two forms of fertilizer have come out especially when a split application was adopted. The differences in the nitrogen leaching between the two fertilizer forms and between the two application times are very great; with the liquid fertilizers the losses, in relation to the total nitrogen amount, range from 27.9 per cent to 13.3 per cent and from 13.1 per cent to 8.9 per cent with solid fertilizers respectively for concentrated and split distribution.
Gli AA. riferiscono su di una prova attuata in vasche lisimetriche al fine di verificare l'entita della aspsortazione di azoto da parte del frumento e delle perdite per liscivaziosne quando fertilizzanti, solidi e liquidi, venivano applicati completamente in antesemina o frazionati. Riguardo alle asportazioni sono emerse differenze apprezzabili fra i tipi di fertilizzante soprattutto quando la loro distribuzione e stata frazionata. Di maggior consistenza sono risultate le diferenze relative al lisciviaggio dell'azoto, sia fra i tipi di fertilizzante che fra le epoche di somministrazione; infatti, le perdite raportate al quantitativo somministrato, variano dal 27,9 per cento al 13,3 per cento per i liquidi e dal 13,1 per cento all'8,9 per cento per i solidi rispettivamente per le distribuzioni in antesemina e frazionata.
NA60 is a fixed-target experiment at the CERN SPS which measured dimuon production in nucleus-nucleus and proton-nucleus collisions. In this paper we report on a precision measurement of low-mass ...muon pairs in 158 AGeV indium-indium collisions. A significant excess of pairs is observed above the yield expected from neutral meson decays. The excess can be isolated by subtraction of expected sources, thanks to the excellent mass resolution and large sample size.
