Straw drift chambers are used for the Large Area Tracking (LAT) of the Common Muon and Proton Apparatus for Structure and Spectroscopy (COMPASS) at CERN. An active area of 130
m
2 in total is covered ...by 12
440 straw tubes, which are arranged in 15 double layers. The design has been optimized with respect to spatial resolution, rate capability, low material budget and compactness of the detectors. Mechanical and electrical design considerations of the chambers are discussed as well as new production techniques. The mechanical precision of the chambers has been determined using a CCD X-ray scanning apparatus. Results about the performance during data taking in COMPASS are described.
The ATLAS Transition Radiation Tracker (TRT) performance depends critically on the choice of the active gas and on its properties. The most important operational aspects, which have led to the final ...choice of the active gas for the operation of the TRT at the LHC design luminosity, are presented. The TRT performance expected at these conditions is reviewed, including pile-up effects at high luminosity.
Mass spectra of the reaction (p,2p) at the beam energy 500 MeV on nuclei
C,Al,Cu and Pb were measured on two-armed nonmagnetic scintillation
spectrometer (candlepower - 0.2 sr, mass allowance - 4 ...MeV), which is lokated
on the TRIUMF cyclotron (Canada). Observable anomalies in these spectra can be
stipulated by forming of two-nucleon resonance states.
