In this work, the reaction γp→ ρ fast 0 p π+π – has been studied with the linearly polarized 20-GeV monochromatic photon beam at the SLAC Hybrid Facility to test the prediction of s-channel helicity ...conservation in inelastic diffraction for t ’ <0.4 (GeV/c )2 . In a sample of 1934 events from this reaction, the ρ0 decay-angular distributions and spin-density-matrix elements are consistent with s-channel helicity conservation, the π+ π – mass shape displays the same skewing as seen in the reaction γp→p π+ π – , and the p π+ π – mass distribution compares well and scales according to the vector dominance model with that produced in π± p→ π fast ± p π+π – .
The antibody response of patients was used to characterize the autoantigens in human colorectal carcinoma. Twenty-seven primary and 13 metastatic carcinomas with paired normal tissues were extracted ...and transferred onto nitrocellulose membranes by the Western transfer technique. After the transfers were incubated with the serum of the patient from whom the tumor was derived, autoantigens were identified by indirect immunoperoxidase staining. All tumors contained at least one autoantigen. Six tumor-associated autoantigens, ranging in molecular weight from 26 to 58 kilodaltons (kD), were identified by antibodies in 25% or more of the sera. Eleven metastases expressed a 41-kD autoantigen that was present in only a third of the extracts of normal liver or lung. Thus, the number of dominant polypeptide autoantigens in colorectal carcinoma is restricted to six molecules. These autoantigens may be organ-associated antigens that are expressed by neoplastic cells. The 41-kD autoantigen may be a potential marker for metastases. A generic vaccine appears to be feasible for colorectal carcinoma since the number of dominant antigens is limited.
We examine the negative 3{pi} final state produced in association with {Delta}{sup ++}(1232) in the reaction {gamma}{ital p}{r arrow}{Delta}{sup ++}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}}{pi}{sup {minus}} at an ...incident photon energy of 19.3 GeV. The most prominent enhancement in the 3{pi} spectrum occurs at a mass and with a width consistent with the parameters of the {ital a}{sub 2}(1320). This identification is confirmed by the various angular distributions. The {ital a}{sub 2} production cross section, corrected for efficiencies and alternate {ital a}{sub 2} decay modes, is 0.45{plus minus}0.05 {mu}b.
We report results from Fermilab experiment E769 on the differential cross sections of ital Dsup *plus minus charm vector mesons with respect to Feynman-ital x (ital xsub ital F) and transverse ...momentum (ital Psub ital T), and on the atomic mass dependence of the production. The ital Dsup * mesons were produced by a 250 GeV pi beam on a target of Be, Al, Cu, and W foils. The ital dsigma/ital dxsub ital F distribution is fit by the form (1minusital xsub ital F)sup ital n with ital n=3.5plus minus0.3plus minus0.1, the ital dsigma/ital dPsub ital Tsup 2 distribution by exp(minusital btimesital Psub ital Tsup 2) with ital b=0.70plus minus0.07plus minus0.04 GeVsup minus2, and the cross section ital A dependence by ital Asup alpha with alpha=1.00plus minus0.07plus minus0.02. These results are compared to the equivalent parameters for the production of pseudoscalar ital Dsup 0 and ital Dsup plus minus charm mesons.
