The work is a setting of Christina Rossettiâeuro™s poem âeuroœChristmas Eveâeuro -a welcome addition to the Advent-Christmas repertoire that many churches will be able to use and enjoy. The text for ...the competition intrigued me because of the interplay between darkness and light, and the movement from Advent to Christmas. Jessica: I'm very happy that "Earth, Strike Up Your Music" is the second Christmas piece of mine now published by E.C. Schirmer, and I'm hoping it will be a good addition for Christmas carol services and concerts going forward.

Preceding the premiere performance of The Organ Icons, John Levey, associate professor of music theory and composition at IUP, interviewed Mr. Hohman and Ms. Emerson in a discussion that can be ...viewed on the AGO website. The piece was performed on the Pogorzelski-Yankee Memorial Organ at IUP, and as Ms. Emerson said later, "although this instrument only has 20 stops, there are an endless number of color combinations that reveal the genius of such a small instrument. ...it is up to the individual as to whether or not parody equates with humor.) The parody technique is the focus throughout The Organ Icons; however, instead of secular tunes, Hohman has drawn upon some of the most easy-to-recognize, nontexted musical motives in the pipe organ literature.
