Stock market predictions comprise challenging applications of modern time series forecasting and are essential to the success of many businesses and financial institutions. In this paper, stock ...market forecasting is based on Support Vector Machine (SVM) regression. Firstly, using different linear regression model to extract linear characteristics of stock market system. Secondly, using different Neural Network algorithms to extract nonlinear characteristics of stock market system. Finally, the SVM regression is used for the nonlinear combination forecasting model of different stock exchange prices. Empirical results obtained reveal that the prediction by using the nonlinear combination model is generally better than those obtained using other models presented in this study in terms of the same evaluation measurements. Those results show that that the proposed nonlinear modeling technique is a very promising approach to financial time series forecasting.

A case of penetrating intraocular foreign body presented with a mild blurring of vision, without any ocular reaction. Intralenticular foreign bodies are sometimes missed and present with ...complications in the later stage including uveitis, traumatic cataract, endophthalmitis, and siderosis bulbi. We encountered a young male with an intralenticular metallic foreign body measuring 1 mm with a sealed corneal wound of entry measuring 1mm, confirmed with anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT). Metallic foreign body was visible within the lens matter after dilated anterior and posterior segment examination. Intralenticular foreign body was removed, and lens extraction was done with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation to prevent any ocular complications. Postoperatively, the vision improved to 6/6 with glasses.
Background & objectives: India has been reporting the cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) since January 30, 2020. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) formulated and established ...laboratory surveillance for COVID-19. In this study, an analysis of the surveillance data was done to describe the testing performance and descriptive epidemiology of COVID-19 cases by time, place and person.
Methods: The data were extracted from January 22 to April 30, 2020. The frequencies of testing performance were described over time and by place. We described cases by time (epidemic curve by date of specimen collection; seven-day moving average), place (area map) and person (attack rate by age, sex and contact status), and trends were represented along with public health measures and events.
Results: Between January 22 and April 30, 2020, a total of 1,021,518 individuals were tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Testing increased from about 250 individuals per day in the beginning of March to 50,000 specimens per day by the end of April 2020. Overall, 40,184 (3.9%) tests were reported positive. The proportion of positive cases was highest among symptomatic and asymptomatic contacts, 2-3-fold higher than among those with severe acute respiratory infection, or those with an international travel history or healthcare workers. The attack rate (per million) by age was highest among those aged 50-69 yr (63.3) and was lowest among those under 10 yr (6.1). The attack rate was higher among males (41.6) than females (24.3). The secondary attack rate was 6.0 per cent. Overall, 99.0 per cent of 736 districts reported testing and 71.1 per cent reported COVID-19 cases.
Interpretation & conclusions: The coverage and frequency of ICMR's laboratory surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 improved over time. COVID-19 was reported from most parts of India, and the attack rate was more among men and the elderly and common among close contacts. Analysis of the data indicates that for further insight, additional surveillance tools and strategies at the national and sub-national levels are needed.
This work presents a detailed study of the dynamical processes triggering the occurrence of the two heavy dust storms which occurred between 18 and 22 March 2012 over the Middle East. The dynamics of ...this event are related to the coupling of subtropical jet and polar jet over the Saudi Arabia region, resulting in massive dust storm generation and dust transport through Rub’ al Khali and the Persian Gulf to the UAE region. AOD and PM10 values showed a fourfold increase during the event reaching a maximum of 1.8 and 1653μg/m3 respectively. The spatial extent of the dust storm is evident from high values of MODIS AOD (~1.5) and OMI aerosol index (4.5) covering the entire Middle East. The total attenuated backscatter at 550nm from CALLIPSO showed the vertical extent of dust up to 8km. In addition, surface temperature showed a decrease of almost 15°C during the event signifying the intensity of the dust storm. Aerosol radiative forcing estimates during the dust storm showed a cooling at the surface and warming in the atmosphere, with a maximum forcing value reaching up to ~−210Wm−2 (185 Wm−2). Hence, it is evident from the present study that the dust layer caused an additional warming of ~150Wm−2 in the atmosphere over this region. The present event showcases the importance of dust storm induced aerosol optical and physical processes, and associated atmospheric dynamics over UAE as well as other affected regions.
Humanoid robots are well suited for human habitats due to their morphological similarity, but developing controllers for them is a challenging task that involves multiple sub-problems, such as ...control, planning and perception. In this paper, we introduce a method to simplify controller design by enabling users to train and fine-tune robot control policies using natural language commands. We first learn a neural network policy that generates behaviors given a natural language command, such as "walk forward", by combining Large Language Models (LLMs), motion retargeting, and motion imitation. Based on the synthesized motion, we iteratively fine-tune by updating the text prompt and querying LLMs to find the best checkpoint associated with the closest motion in history. We validate our approach using a simulated Digit humanoid robot and demonstrate learning of diverse motions, such as walking, hopping, and kicking, without the burden of complex reward engineering. In addition, we show that our iterative refinement enables us to learn 3x times faster than a naive formulation that learns from scratch.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), featuring an elastic molecular pattern, highly ordered structures, and persistent porosity, are a new family of covalently connected crystalline organic polymers. ...Predesigned structure, controlled synthesis, and managed functionalities are the key characteristics of COFs in contrast to other polymers. In principle, extended topological design diagrams volunteer geometrical guidance for the structural tiling of extensive porous polygons, and predesigned primary and high-order structures can be synthesized using polycondensation reactions. The achievement of linking atoms in 2D and 3D to build extensive framework systems pushed the chemistry of COFs from structures to methods, emphasizing the prospective future applications. COFs, on the other hand, have developed into a brand-new class of organic materials that offer a highly stable molecular foundation for the development of intricate structural designs and specialized functional advancements as a result of the accessibility of organic building blocks and the variety of topologies and connections. Moreover, the biggest obstacle to their widespread use in electrochemical energy storage devices is the poor electrochemical performance and low electrical conductivity of pristine COFs based materials. Herein, a thorough chemical analysis of the COFs covering its historical background is carried out. Generally employed to sketch the advancements in topological formulations and reactions, thereby illustrating the structural points, and variations. The growth and ability of different functions can be sorted by different structural-functioning, relations depend on the interactions, key fundamentals and challenging issues. Finally, “capacitors” and “supercapacitors” remaining issues with this kind of materials for practical advantages, limitations, and applications are emphasized.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a disorder of neonatal retinal vascularization. The incidence is increasing in developing countries like India in view of the rising numbers of preterm deliveries ...and improved neonatal care. Traditional modalities of treatment included cryotherapy and laser therapy, which were laborious and required special training. Hence, research is on way to find novel treatment modalities directed at various levels of pathogenesis for this blinding disease. We reviewed the published and unpublished literature on newer methods of ROP management. The pathogenesis of ROP has been studied with respect to the mediators of angiogenesis. Anti vascular endothelial growth factor (Anti-VEGF) therapy has been extensively studied and the studies have demonstrated its promising role early stages of ROP. The role of Insulin like growth factor (IGF), Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (GCSF), and June kinases (JNK) inhibitors are being studied by various researchers across the world. Gene therapy holds promise in the reversal of ROP changes.
Horner’s syndrome is caused by damage to the sympathetic pathway anywhere along its course. The unique association of the sixth nerve palsy with ipsilateral Horner’s syndrome has a localizing value, ...known as Parkinson’s syndrome. The patient described here had left ptosis, miosis of pupil, and abduction limitation on left gaze. A diagnosis of Parkinson’s syndrome was made. Magnetic resonance angiography confirmed a cavernous lesion. High suspicion is essential for diagnosis of such a variant of Horner’s syndrome.
