Our purpose is to improve performance-based animation which can drive believable 3\mathrm{D} stylized characters that are truly perceptual. By combining traditional blendshape animation techniques ...with machine learning models, we present a real time motion capture system, called MienCap, which drive character expressions in a geometrically consistent and perceptually valid way. We demon-strate the effectiveness of our system by comparing to a commercial product Faceware. Results reveal that ratings of the recognition of expressions depicted for animated characters via our systems are statistically higher than Faceware. Our results may be implemented into the VR filmmaking and animation pipeline, and provide animators with a system for creating the expressions they wish to use more quickly and accurately.
The rapid development of ride-hailing services has sparked debate about their role in urban transport. While there are several studies exploring impacts of ride-hailing services on transportation ...systems, little work has been done to study mode choice transitions of ride-hailing users. This paper investigates ride-hailing use in November 2018 in Chengdu, China. We use survey results to depict usage characteristics of ride-hailing trips and users. A binary logit model is utilized to investigate factors influencing mode transitions because we suspect that the previous mode has an important effect on the future mode choice (when ride-hailing services is banned or heavily restricted). Ride-hailing services caters specially to younger and educated respondents. Although total shares of car-based modes (drive alone, taxi, get a ride with friends /family) does not show obvious changes, many respondents would shift away from taxi towards transit, bike, and driving alone. Besides, some respondents who used transit previously would be more likely to choose taxi. Our study could offer insights for relative regulations and policies.
Since the classical stability cannot deal with the behavior of closed-loop silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET gate drive during switching transients, a finite-time stability analysis method is proposed and ...demonstrated. First, a small-signal SiC MOSFET model including the nonlinearity of parameters is employed to derivation the state equations of the drive circuit. Then a determination procedure of nonlinear parameters is illustrated. Finally, the behavior of the drive circuit during switching transients is evaluated using Davari's method. Different circuit designs are analyzed using the proposed method and analysis results are confirmed by experiments.
