We present densely sampled UBVRI/griz photometric and low-resolution (6-10 Å) optical spectroscopic observations from 4 to 270 d after explosion of a newly discovered Type II SN 2012aw in a nearby ...(∼9.9 Mpc) galaxy M95. The light-curve characteristics of apparent magnitudes, colours, bolometric luminosity and the presence and evolution of prominent spectral features are found to have striking similarity with the archetypal IIP SNe 1999em, 1999gi and 2004et. The early time observations of SN 2012aw clearly detect minima in the light curve of V, R and I bands near 37 d after explosion and this we suggest to be an observational evidence for emergence of recombination phase. The mid-plateau M
V
magnitude (−16.67 ± 0.04) lies in between the bright (∼−18) and subluminous (∼−15) IIP SNe. The mass of nickel is 0.06 ± 0.01 M. The synow modelling of spectra indicate that the value and evolution of the photospheric velocity is similar to SN 2004et, but about ∼600 km s−1 higher than that of SNe 1999em and 1999gi at comparable epochs. This trend is more apparent in the line velocities of Hα and Hβ. A comparison of ejecta velocity properties with that of existing radiation-hydrodynamical simulations indicate that the energy of explosion lies in the range 1-2 × 1051 ergs; a further comparison of nebular phase O i doublet luminosity with SNe 2004et and 1987A indicate that the mass of progenitor star is about 14 to 15 M. The presence of high-velocity absorption features in the mid-to-late plateau and possibly in early phase spectra show signs of interaction between ejecta and the circumstellar matter; being consistent with its early time detection at X-ray and radio wavebands.

Drug delivery is the method or process of administering a pharmaceutical compound to achieve a therapeutic effect in humans or animals. For the treatment of human diseases, nasal and pulmonary routes ...of drug delivery are gaining increasing importance. These routes provide promising alternatives to parenteral drug delivery particularly for peptide and protein therapeutics. For this purpose, several drug delivery systems have been formulated and are being investigated for nasal and pulmonary delivery. These include liposomes, proliposomes, microspheres, gels, prodrugs, cyclodextrins, among others. Nanoparticles composed of biodegradable polymers show assurance in fulfilling the stringent requirements placed on these delivery systems, such as ability to be transferred into an aerosol, stability against forces generated during aerosolization, biocompatibility, targeting of specific sites or cell populations in the lung, release of the drug in a predetermined manner, and degradation within an acceptable period of time.
Hepcidin is a 25-amino acid peptide hormone produced by hepatocytes and plays a key role in body iron metabolism. Hepcidin deficiency is the cause of iron overload in hereditary hemochromatosis, ...iron-loading anemia, and its excess is associated with anemia of inflammation, chronic disease and iron deficiency anemia (IDA). The aims of this study was to evaluate
HAMP
gene mutation, namely IVS2 + 1(–G) (c.148–150 + 1del) and Gly71 Asp (c.212G > A (rs104894696) association with iron status in IDA conditions. Our study participants were 500 IDA patients and 550 age and sex-matched healthy controls. Hepcidin, ferritin and CRP analysis was done by ELISA method while ESR analysis was done according to Wintrobe method. CBC analysis was done by auto-analyzer. Two mutations in the
HAMP
genes were analysed by PCR RFLP method. Among the IDA patients, 7 were heterozygous for Met50del IVS2 + 1(–G) mutation. Nine IDA patients were heterozygous for G71D G–A mutation and homozygous were not identified in both mutations.Controls were showing heterozygous frequency 1.8 and 2.1% of Met50del IVS2 + 1(–G) and G71D G–A mutations respectively. Mutation of
HAMP
(Met50del IVS2 + 1(–G) and G71D G–A) were clinically associated with IDA and act as modulator of disease.
The bismuth based perovskite with the structure (CH3NH3)3Bi2I9 (MBI) is rapidly emerging as eco-friendly and stable semiconducting material as a substitute for the lead halide perovskites. A ...relatively higher bandgap of MBI (about 2.1 eV) has been found to be a bottleneck in realizing the high photovoltaic performance similar to that of lead halide based perovskites. We demonstrate the bandgap engineering of novel bismuth based perovskites obtained by in situ sulfur doping of MBI via the thermal decomposition of Bi(xt)3 (xt = ethyl xanthate) precursor. Colors of the obtained films clearly changed from orange to black when annealed from 80 to 120 °C. Formation of sulfur doped MA3Bi2I9 was confirmed by XRD and the presence of sulfur was confirmed through XPS. In this work, obtained sulfur doped bismuth perovskites exhibited a bandgap of 1.45 eV which is even lower than that of most commonly used lead halide perovskites. Hall-Effect measurements showed that the carrier concentration and mobility are much higher as compared to that of undoped MA3Bi2I9.
ABSTRACT
We investigate the observational properties of a hydrogen-deficient superluminous supernova (SLSN) SN 2020ank (at z = 0.2485), with the help of early phase observations carried out between ...–21 and +52 d since g-band maximum. Photometrically, SN 2020ank is one of the brightest SLSN ($M_{\mathrm{ g,peak}}\, \sim$ –21.84 ± 0.10 mag), having fast pre-peak rising and post-peak decaying rates. The bolometric light curve of SN 2020ank exhibits a higher peak luminosity (Lmax) of ∼ (3.9 ± 0.7) × 1044 erg s−1 and appears to be symmetric around the peak with $L^{\mathrm{ rise}}_{\mathrm{ max}}$/e ${\approx}L^{\mathrm{ fall}}_{\mathrm{ max}}$/e ≈ 15 d. The semi-analytical light-curve modelling using the minim code suggests a spin-down millisecond magnetar with $P_i\, \sim$ 2.2 ± 0.5 ms and $B\, \sim$ (2.9 ± 0.1) $\times \, 10^{14}$ G as a possible powering source for SN 2020ank. The possible magnetar origin and excess ultraviolet flux at early epochs indicate a central-engine based powering source for SN 2020ank. Near-peak spectra of SN 2020ank are enriched with the W-shaped O ii features but with the weaker signatures of C ii and Fe iii. Using the estimated rise time of ∼ 27.9 d and the photospheric velocity of ∼ 12 050 km s−1, we constrain the ejecta mass to ∼ 7.2 M⊙ and the kinetic energy of ∼6.3 × 1051 erg. The near-peak spectrum of SN 2020ank exhibits a close spectral resemblance with that of fast-evolving SN 2010gx. The absorption features of SN 2020ank are blueshifted compared to Gaia16apd, suggesting a higher expansion velocity. The spectral similarity with SN 2010gx and comparatively faster spectral evolution than PTF12dam (a slow-evolving SLSN) indicate the fast-evolving behaviour of SN 2020ank.

Aims.
Gamma-ray burst (GRB) 190829A (
z
= 0.0785) was detected by
Fermi
and
Swift
and also at very high energy (VHE) by the High-Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) telescopes. The prompt emission ...displayed two emission episodes separated by a quiescent gap of ∼40 s. We present the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) observations of the afterglow of GRB 190829A and its underlying supernova. We also compare GRB 190829A to GRB 180728A, a GRB with similar behaviour, and discuss the implications on underlying physical mechanisms producing these two GRBs.
Methods.
We present multi-band photometric data along with spectroscopic follow-up observations taken with the 10.4 m GTC telescope. Together with the data from the prompt emission, the 10.4 m GTC data are used to understand the emission mechanisms and possible progenitor.
Results.
A detailed analysis of the multi-band observations of the afterglow requires the cooling frequency to pass between the optical and X-ray bands at early epochs. The afterglow then transitions to the underlying supernova (SN) 2019oyw, which dominates later on.
Conclusions.
Although the prompt emission temporal properties of GRB 190829A and GRB 180728A are similar, the two pulses are different in the spectral domain. We find that SN 2019oyw associated with GRB 190829A is powered by Ni decay and is a Type Ic-BL SN. The spectroscopic and photometric properties of this SN are consistent with those observed for SN 1998bw, but evolved earlier.
Industry has become an essential part of modern society, and waste production is an inevitable outcome of the developmental activities. A material becomes waste when it is discarded without expecting ...to be compensated for its inherent value. These wastes may pose a potential hazard to the human health or the environment (soil, air, water) when improperly treated, stored, transported or disposed off or managed. Currently in India even though hazardous wastes, emanations and effluents are regulated, solid wastes often are disposed off indiscriminately posing health and environmental risk. In view of this, management of hazardous wastes including their disposal in environment friendly and economically viable way is very important and therefore suggestions are made for developing better strategies. Out of the various categories of the wastes, solid waste contributes a major share towards environmental degradation. The present paper outlines the nature of the wastes, waste generating industries, waste characterization, health and environmental implications of wastes management practices, steps towards planning, design and development of models for effective hazardous waste management, treatment, approaches and regulations for disposal of hazardous waste. Appraisal of the whole situation with reference to Indian scenario is attempted so that a better cost-effective strategies for waste management be evolved in future.
To understand the position of donor‐ acceptor level and nature of electronic state of activators and co‐ activators, the photo luminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) emission spectra of Znse: ...Gd and Zn Se: (Ag, Gd) phosphors, have been recorded at room temperature. The method of preparation of phosphors is described. Voltage and frequency dependence of electroluminescent has also b been described. The light output varies as B=B0exp(−bV)$B = {B_0}\exp ( {\frac{{ - b}}{{\sqrt V }}} )\;$ been studied for a wide range of frequencies. It is observed that the EL emission spectra of these phosphors are shifted towards lower wavelength sides on increasing the field frequency.
