Studying at university involves demanding academic and clinical training requirements for students from Psychology and other health-allied fields, potentially having severe physical and mental health ...implications. Existing training programs for addressing burnout have focused thus far on specific areas (e.g., stress management, physical exercise, mindfulness meditation, etc.) with promising outcomes. However, no comprehensive programs have been developed to train students and staff in the early identification of burnout signs and characteristics as well as in self-assessing personal needs and habits (i.e., primary prevention), or in identifying community resources and evidence-based strategies to overcome burnout (i.e., secondary prevention). This paper describes the content development, refinement, and piloting process of the BENDiT-EU program as part of a European collaborative to address academic burnout for health-allied students. Piloting results showed that participants viewed the program positively and provided helpful suggestions for content improvement and training delivery. Future research directions should target experimental investigations of the program’s effectiveness and the longitudinal interaction of burnout with other variables (e.g., resilience).
Test-taking behavior is a potential source of construct irrelevant variance for test scores in international large-scale assessments where test-taking effort, motivation, and behaviors in general ...tend to be confounded with test scores. In an attempt to disentangle this relationship and gain further insight into examinees’ test-taking processes, researchers can now utilize process and timing data to obtain a more comprehensive view of test-taking behaviors, such as test-taking effort. The purpose of this study is to propose and evaluate two novel response-based, standardized indicators of test-taking behaviors that utilize a combination of examinee response and process (timing) data to better understand and describe test-taking effort in ILSAs. These indices were empirically estimated with USA data from two booklets from e-TIMSS 2019 in mathematics for grade 4. In addition, their predictive validity was examined with respect to achievement estimates. Their network of associations with other relevant variables such as motivation, interest in the subject, as well as across subjects were also examined to test their intra-individual stability in e-TIMSS.

Therefore, the purpose of this study was to model the interrelationships among test-taking strategy instruction (with a focus on metacognition), answer changing bias and performance on multiple-choice tests among college students through structural equation modelling. This study, which was based on a sample of 1512 students from Greece, has managed to extend the findings of previous research by proposing a model that demonstrates the interplay between these variables.
Abstract
In view of the need to develop school teachers as research‐oriented professionals and the reported complexities of this endeavour internationally, this article explores teacher involvement ...in research‐related‐activities in Cyprus. It aims to measure the extent and quality of such involvement and explore possible predictors. Data were collected from a sample of 420 public primary and secondary school teachers. Most respondents reported involvement in activities for the consumption of research, which was found to be related to teachers' background in research methods courses and work context (primary/secondary school). Teachers' involvement in activities for the production of research was less extensive, whilst statistical associations with the specific background variables were not traced. On the basis of the findings, recommendations for the transition towards research‐oriented teachers are discussed in terms of developing research knowledge, skills and attitudes and providing supportive measures to schools.
Teachers around the world, serving in remote areas experience professional isolation (Bouck, 2004). In addition to being geographically isolated, challenges to remote teaching include a lack of ...professional support (Ralph, 2002) and experience of social isolation. Yet, the utilization of educational research has the potential to alleviate this issue. Therefore, this study examines the interplay between the factors that can possibly explain the teacher’s intentions to use research for professional development purposes in remote schools in Greece. Based on the results of the Structural Equation Model that was examined, research attitudes had the strongest direct relationship to intending to use research for professional development purposes, although research skills also played a major role (directly, and indirectly) in this relationship.
The purpose of our study was to examine the issue of answer changing in relation to students' abilities to monitor their behaviour accurately while responding to multiple-choice tests. The data for ...this study were obtained from the final examination administered to students in an educational psychology course. The results of the study indicate that decision making regarding answer changing can be informed by metacognitive monitoring when a student's attention is drawn to cues solicited during testing. However, answer changing can be a "tricky" test-taking strategy, and how it relates to test performance is based on an interplay of variables both at a person level as well as at a task level. This is probably why this strategy is frequently misunderstood by both test-takers and educators.
Cyprus is a culturally diverse island where people of different nationalities, ethnicities, religions, and social status have learned to live together. This phenomenon can be observed in ...Cyprus'international schools, where the superdiversity of the Cypriot society comes together and overlaps; and where students enter a 'third space' created at the interstices cf society, that is non-native and non-host. In this paper, we explore these students'sense of belonging to both their host (Cyprus) and heritage cultures, and the role played by international schools in the development cfthe two. The sense of belonging, as well as its challenges which go hand in hand, are important aspects cf social integration and provide insights into how individuals relate to their environment and whether they feel socially connected or disconnected from it. This is especially important in the context of Cyprus because of the increasing number of long-term migrants who consider Cyprus their 'home', and who create their own cultural and social space on the island.
There are a number of measurement instruments in the field of education whose aims are to measure various aspects of educational technology. However, the psychometric properties of such instruments ...are not always determined, and their use is not always appropriate. The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the survey of factors affecting teachers teaching with technology (SFA-T3) when used with a sample of Greek Cypriot teachers. The results of this study show that the reliability evidence obtained from the responses to the questionnaire was satisfactory. The construct validity evidence was also determined based on a factor analysis that created ten easily interpretable factors. Some gender differences have also appeared in the teachers' responses on the various factors, which is in accordance with similar literature that exists in other countries as well.
