We present a novel Ti64/20Ag highly porous composite fabricated by powder metallurgy for biomedical applications and provide an insight into its microstructure and mechanical proprieties. In this ...work, the Ti64/20Ag highly porous composites were successfully fabricated by the space holder technique and consolidated by liquid phase sintering, at lower temperatures than the ones used for Ti64 materials. The sintering densification was evaluated by dilatometry tests and the microstructural characterization and porosity features were determined by scanning electron microscopy and computed microtomography. Permeability was estimated by numerical simulations on the 3D real microstructure. Mechanical properties were evaluated by simple compression tests. Densification was achieved by interparticle pore filling with liquid Ag that does not drain to the large pores, with additional densification due to the macroscopical deformation of large pores. Pore characteristics are closely linked to the pore formers and the permeability was highly increased by increasing the pore volume fraction, mainly because the connectivity was improved. As expected, with the increase in porosity, the mechanical properties decreased. These results permitted us to gain a greater understanding of the microstructure and to confirm that we developed a promising Ti64/20Ag composite, showing E of 7.4 GPa, σy of 123 MPa and permeability of 3.93 × 10−11 m2. Enhanced adaptability and antibacterial proprieties due to Ag were obtained for bone implant applications.

Por lo tanto, en este estudio se comparó el efecto de ...diferentes abonos orgánicos con la fertilización química mediante seis tratamientos: T0: control; T1: vermicompost dosis completa (7831,00 kg/ha); T2: vermicompost mitad de la dosis (3915,50 kg/ha) + fertilizante químico (FQ 15N 15P2O5 15K2O) mitad de la dosis (703,50 kg/ha); T3: gallinaza + caprinaza + residuos de caña de azúcar dosis completa (ABOB: 10573,00 kg/ha): T4: ABOB mitad dosis (1407,00 kg/ha) más FQ mitad de la dosis (703,50 kg/ha); T5: FQ dosis completa (1407,00 kg/ha); T6: FQ mitad de la dosis (703,50 kg/ha). Se evaluó: altura de la planta (AP), vainas por planta (NVP); longitud de las vainas (LV) y rendimiento (kg/ha). Se aplicó un análisis de varianza al 5% y una prueba de Tukey para la separación de medias. La AP promedio fue mayor en T2 (172,27 cm). El NVP fue más alto en T3 y T5 con respecto al control, sin embargo, no se observaron diferencias estadísticas entre tratamientos. La LV fue estadísticamente más alta en los tratamientos con respecto al control, aunque no hubo variación entre tratamientos. Sin embargo, no se observaron diferencias estadísticas en el rendimiento entre tratamientos, y T1 y T4 presentaron un rendimiento superior al control de 42,85% y 39,99%, respectivamente. Es posible sustituir o complementar el fertilizante químico con enmiendas orgánicas y reducir el efecto negativo de contaminación que generan sobre el ambiente y la salud de las personas.
This systematic review discusses long-term NSW and female BC risk, with special attention to differences between pre- and postmenopausal BC, to test the association with recent NSW. The review ...follows PRISMA guidelines (Prospero registry: CRD42018102515). We searched PubMed, Embase, and WOS for case–control, nested case–control, and cohort studies addressing long-term NSW (≥15 years) as risk exposure and female BC as outcome until 31 December 2020. Risk of bias was evaluated with the Newcastle–Ottawa scale. Eighteen studies were finally included (eight cohorts; five nested case–control; five case–control). We performed meta-analyses on long-term NSW and BC risk; overall and by menopausal status; a subanalysis on recent long-term NSW, based on studies involving predominantly women below retirement age; and a dose–response meta-analysis on NSW duration. The pooled estimate for long-term NSW and BC was 1.13 (95%CI = 1.01–1.27; 18 studies, I2 = 56.8%, p = 0.002). BC risk increased 4.7% per 10 years of NSW (95%CI = 0.94–1.09; 16 studies, I2 = 33.4%, p = 0.008). The pooled estimate for premenopausal BC was 1.27 (95%CI = 0.96–1.68; six studies, I2 = 32.0%, p = 0.196) and for postmenopausal BC 1.05 (95%CI = 0.90–1.24,I2 = 52.4%; seven studies, p = 0.050). For recent long-term exposure, the pooled estimate was 1.23 (95%CI = 1.06–1.42; 15 studies; I2 = 48.4%, p = 0.018). Our results indicate that long-term NSW increases the risk for BC and that menopausal status and time since exposure might be relevant.
In recent decades, breast cancer cases have increased steadily worldwide. However, the increases do not hold across all demographics and breast cancer cases in low and middle income countries have ...increased much faster than the global trend. Colombia is not an exception. Breast cancer was the most frequent tumor and the second cause of cancer-related deaths in women in 2008, with an estimated of 6,700 new cases and 2,100 deaths. We present here an analysis of breast cancer mortality rates and trends in Colombia, over the period 1985–2008. We studied overall and age-specific changes in breast cancer mortality using change-point Poisson regression models. Between 1985 and 2008, there were 32,375 breast cancer deaths in women in Colombia. Breast cancer mortality increased since 1985, although the annual increase varied between age groups and socioeconomic levels. Only in women aged 45–64 years old that live in areas of high socioeconomic levels, breast cancer mortality was stable or decreasing. Hence, successful cancer control is possible in middle income countries, as shown by the progress observed in certain groups. The development of an integrated strategy of early detection and early access to proper treatment, suitable for areas with limited resources, is an urgent necessity.
The aim of this work is to analyze the effect of the heating rate used during the debinding step on the consolidation of parts fabricated by additive manufacturing using the 3D printing extrusion of ...Ti64 samples. The cylindrical samples print by extruding MIM pellets of Ti64 mixed with a binder. Dilatometry tests follow the densification of the samples by using three different heating rates during the heating stage. All the samples then undergo the same thermal cycle of sintering. SEM and XRD analyze the microstructure. Microhardness and compression tests evaluate the mechanical properties of the sintered samples. We analyze the corrosion behavior under Hank’s solution. The results indicated that the heating rate used during the debinding step affects the densification by reducing this as the heating rate increases. After sintering, a lower relative density is reached, resulting in decreased mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The Young’s modulus and yield strength correspond well with those of the Ti64 samples prepared by other techniques with similar porosities. Despite the remaining porosity, the parts fabricated by SLM had worse corrosion behavior than ours. The main conclusion is that the isothermal step during debinding is not necessary to ensure complete binder elimination, which will reduce the process time and thus, the fabrication costs of parts by this technique.

Introducción: El estado de alarma que provoco COVID-19, obligó a que se tomaran medidas sociales de restricción, esperando reducir los contagios, incluyendo el confinamiento, que impactó diversos ...aspectos de la vida humana, ha tenido efecto considerable en la dinámica familiar, provocando que permanezcan en casa acrecentando el afrontamiento de las situaciones de crisis, experimentando un proceso de transición a nuevas formas de vida. Objetivo: analizar las relaciones y procesos que viven las familias ante el confinamiento por COVID-19 narradas por las madres. Materiales y métodos: estudio cualitativo de teoría fundamentada, se realizaron entrevistas a profundidad a cinco madres de familia. Resultados: los resultados obtenidos emergieron de una categoría central “adquisición de nuevas formas de vida” y tres categorías que la sustentan: 1. Afrontando el inicio de la pandemia; 2. Adaptando la nueva normalidad en familia y 3. Adoptando las consecuencias de la pandemia en la vida cotidiana. Discusión: El proceso que han mostrado las familias mexicanas ante el COVID-19 se vive diferente al de otros países, la convivencia en los hogares fue de las afectadas ya que se compromete la libertad con la que viven día a día. Conclusión: Las participantes expresaron que durante la pandemia por COVID-19, la familia vivió un proceso de transición para poder adquirir nuevas formas de vida, las cuales incluían hábitos, costumbres y estructuras que cubrieran sus necesidades requeridas en ese momento, este proceso incluyó diferentes etapas (afrontamiento, adaptación y adopción).
