The production of charged hadrons within jets recoiling against a Z boson is measured in proton-proton collision data at sqrts=8 TeV recorded by the LHCb experiment. The charged-hadron structure of ...the jet is studied longitudinally and transverse to the jet axis for jets with transverse momentum p_{T}>20 GeV and in the pseudorapidity range 2.5<η<4. These are the first measurements of jet hadronization at these forward rapidities and also the first where the jet is produced in association with a Z boson. In contrast to previous hadronization measurements at the Large Hadron Collider, which are dominated by gluon jets, these measurements probe predominantly light-quark jets which are found to be more longitudinally and transversely collimated with respect to the jet axis when compared to the previous gluon dominated measurements. Therefore, these results provide valuable information on differences between quarks and gluons regarding nonperturbative hadronization dynamics.
Results are reported from a search for the rare decays B_{s}^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓} and B^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓}, where the τ lepton is reconstructed in the channel τ^{-}→π^{-}π^{+}π^{-}ν_{τ}. These processes are ...effectively forbidden in the standard model, but they can potentially occur at detectable rates in models of new physics that can induce lepton-flavor-violating decays. The search is based on a data sample corresponding to 3 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment in 2011 and 2012. The event yields observed in the signal regions for both processes are consistent with the expected standard model backgrounds. Because of the limited mass resolution arising from the undetected τ neutrino, the B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} signal regions are highly overlapping. Assuming no contribution from B^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓}, the upper limit B(B_{s}^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓})<4.2×10^{-5} is obtained at 95% confidence level. If no contribution from B_{s}^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓} is assumed, a limit of B(B^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓})<1.4×10^{-5} is obtained at 95% confidence level. These results represent the first limit on B(B_{s}^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓}) and the most stringent limit on B(B^{0}→τ^{±}μ^{∓}).

Previously published and as yet unpublished QCD results obtained with the ALEPH detector at LEP1 are presented. The unprecedented statistics allows detailed studies of both perturbative and ...non-perturbative aspects of strong interactions to be carried out using hadronic Z and tau decays. The studies presented include precise determinations of the strong coupling constant, tests of its flavour independence, tests of the SU(3) gauge structure of QCD, study of coherence effects, and measurements of single-particle inclusive distributions and two-particle correlations for many identified baryons and mesons.
We present a measurement of form-factor independent angular observables in the decay \mbox{$B^0\to K^{*}(892)^{0}\mu^+ \mu^-$}. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated ...luminosity of 1.0fb$^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb experiment in $pp$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7TeV. A measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in Bs0→ϕϕ\ {B}_s^0\to \phi \phi \ decays is presented. Using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated ...luminosity of 5.0 fb−1 collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies s\ \sqrt{s} \ = 7 TeV in 2011, 8 TeV in 2012 and 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016, a signal yield of around 9000 Bs0→ϕϕ\ {B}_s^0\to \phi \phi \ decays is obtained. The CP-violating phase ϕsss¯s\ {\phi}_s^{s\overline{s}s} \ is measured to be −0.073 ± 0.115(stat) ± 0.027(syst) rad, under the assumption it is independent of the helicity of the ϕϕ decay. In addition, the CP-violating phases of the transverse polarisations under the assumption of CP conservation of the longitudinal phase are measured. The helicity-independent direct CP-violation parameter is also measured, and is found to be |λ| = 0.99 ± 0.05(stat) ± 0.01(syst). In addition, T-odd triple-product asymmetries are measured. The results obtained are consistent with the hypothesis of CP conservation in b¯→s¯ss¯s\ \overline{b}\to \overline{s}s\overline{s}s \ transitions. Finally, a limit on the branching fraction of the B0 → ϕϕ decay is determined to be BB0→ϕϕ<2.7×10−8\ \mathcal{B}\left({B}^0\to \phi \phi \right)<2.7\times {10}^{-8} \ at 90 % confidence level.
Triple gauge-boson couplings γWW and ZWW involving single-photon, single-W and W-pair production are determined using data samples collected at LEP with the ALEPH detector at centre-of-mass energies ...between 183 and 209 GeV. The integrated luminosity used is 700 pb−1 for the single-photon measurement and 683 pb−1 for the W channels. Restricting the measurement to C- and P-conserving terms and applying local SU(2)L×U(1)Y gauge invariance, the measured values of the parameters g1Z, κγ and λγ are: g1Z=1.001±0.027(stat)±0.013(syst),κγ=0.971±0.055(stat)±0.030(syst),λγ=−0.012±0.027(stat)±0.011(syst) for single-parameter fits, where the two other parameters are fixed to their Standard Model values. Results are also presented for the cases where two or all three couplings are allowed to vary.
An additional analysis using W-pair events is performed to measure the unconstrained real and imaginary parts of all 14 triple gauge-boson couplings and to perform an indirect search for a techni-ρ resonance. No deviations from the Standard Model expectations are observed and the lower limit on the techni-ρ mass is set to 600 GeV/c2 at 95% confidence level.
First observation of the decay Bs -> D0bar phi is reported using pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb^-1, collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy ...of 7 TeV. The significance of the signal is 6.2 standard deviations. The branching fraction is measured relative to that of the decay Bs -> D0bar K*0bar to be 0.069 +/- 0.013 (stat) +/- 0.007 (syst). The first measurement of the ratio of branching fractions for the decays Bs -> D0bar K*0bar and Bd->D0bar K*0 is found to be 7.8 +/- 0.7 (stat) +/- 0.3 (syst) +/- 0.6 (f_s/f_d), where the last uncertainty is due to the ratio of the Bs and Bd fragmentation fractions.
Measurements of CP observables in B0 → DK∗0 decays are presented, where D represents a superposition of D0 and D¯0\ {\overline{D}}^0 \ states. The D meson is reconstructed in the two-body final ...states K+π−, π+K−, K+K− and π+π−, and, for the first time, in the fourbody final states K+π−π+π−, π+K−π+π− and π+π−π+π−. The analysis uses a sample of neutral B mesons produced in proton-proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0, 2.0 and 1.8 fb−1 collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of s=7,8\ \sqrt{s}=7,8 \ and 13 TeV, respectively. First observations of the decays B0 → D(π+K−)K∗0 and B0 → D(π+π−π+π−)K∗0 are obtained. The measured observables are interpreted in terms of the CP -violating weak phase γ.
