Abstract The world’s first planetary defense test mission was carried out in late 2022 by NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission. The main DART spacecraft, which was accompanied by ...the ASI-provided LICIACube cubesat, intentionally impacted Dimorphos, the smaller secondary of the near-Earth object binary system (65803) Didymos, on 2022 September 26. The impact released a large amount of ejecta, which, combined with the spacecraft’s momentum, produced the observed 33 ± 1 minute period change that was subsequently observed from ground-based telescopes. The DART mission, in addition to having successfully changed the orbital period of Dimorphos, also activated the asteroid as a result of the impact but under known conditions, unlike other impacts on asteroids. We have conducted long-term monitoring over 5 months following the impact with the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope (LCOGT) network and Magdalena Ridge Observatory (MRO). This was supplemented by almost 3 months of more sparsely sampled data, primarily from educational users of the LCOGT network during the period from 2022 July 5 to 2022 September 25, prior to the impact date of 2022 September 26. Here we report the observations of the Didymos system and DART impact ejecta with the telescopes of the LCOGT network from T+1.93 days to T+151.3 days after impact, and we study the evolving morphology of the ejecta cloud and evolving tail over the entire length of the data set. In addition, we combined these intensive data sets with the earlier sparse observations over the ∼90 days prior to impact to derive a new disk-integrated phase function model using the H , G 1 , G 2 parameterization.
The Rochester NY, contingent of the VdGSA is grateful to the Society and to Rosamund Morley for enabling them to participate in the Circuit Rider Program. Rochester was the initial site of the ...program, in 2005. They have benefited individually and in consorts from six years of Morley's teaching and coaching. The nine current players--Helen Ellis, Pat Hanley, DeeDee Heyer, Liz Phillips, Gina Russo, Liz Seely, Neil Seely, Tracy Thieret, and Nancy Washer--have individual lessons lasting at least an hour. Morley also coaches two or three prepared consorts for an hour or two each. Her wealth of ideas encourages diligent practicing during the time between her visits. Rochester belongs to the Western New York Viols area of the VdOSA.
Duodenal web is a rare pathology presenting infrequently in adults. Diagnosis is challenging and definitive management is commonly delayed. We present a case of a patient with a late diagnosis of ...duodenal web, who underwent laparotomy, intraoperative gastroscopy and surgical removal of the web performed by two general surgeons.
A 32-year-old woman with a previous diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome presented with a three day history of abdominal pain, nausea and anorexia, and a one day history of melaena and haematemesis. Investigations including a magnetic resonance enterography, barium swallow study and gastroscopy revealed the diagnosis. The patient underwent laparotomy and excision of duodenal web. Intraoperative gastroscopy assisted with identification of the web's anatomical location. A longitudinal duodenotomy was performed and this was closed in a transverse fashion using the Heineke-Mikulicz technique.
This case reports successful application of intraoperative gastroscopy during laparotomy and duodenotomy. Longitudinal duodenotomy with excision of the web and transverse closure of the duodenum appears to be the best approach. There are no previous publications detailing gastroscopy at the time of laparotomy with duodenal web. This technique may be utilised in appropriate situations to improve operative accuracy.
Duodenal web is a rare entity in adults, and delayed diagnosis may lead to significant patient morbidity. Incorporating intraoperative endoscopy ensures accurate anatomical visualisation. This technique avoids duodenectomy, organ damage, bypass, or an unnecessarily large incision.
•Duodenal web is a rare diagnostic dilemma found infrequently in adults.•Duodenal web is frequently misdiagnosed and may not be visible on gastroscopy.•Investigations such as magnetic resonance enterography and barium swallow studies may be useful adjuncts for diagnosis.•Surgical management via laparotomy and duodenotomy are the best agreed cure for duodenal web.•Intraoperative gastroscopy is a novel technique that may improve patient outcomes by enhancing anatomical accuracy.

Mitchells & Butlers is the leading operator of restaurants and pubs in the UK, operating 13 key brands across 1,600 businesses and employing 40,000 people. In 2010 the company had annual revenues of ...L1,980 million. It was recognized in March 2011 by the CBI People Awards for successfully devising and implementing a change program across the organization. This was achieved through planning, communicating and implementing a strategy to develop the company into the UK's preferred choice for eating out. The board agreed to the appointment of a dedicated HR director to the executive committee as it was identified that employees were central to the company's strategic objectives. A project brief was agreed and a business case developed to invest in technology as an enabler to develop online recruitment, training and communications. Mitchells & Butlers has continued to re-shape the business and move food volumes through the sale of 333 non-core pubs, the Hollywood Bowl brand and 44 lodges (hotels), all in 2010.

The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft successfully performed the first test of a kinetic impactor for asteroid deflection by impacting Dimorphos, the secondary of near-Earth binary ...asteroid (65803) Didymos, and changing the orbital period of Dimorphos. A change in orbital period of approximately 7 minutes was expected if the incident momentum from the DART spacecraft was directly transferred to the asteroid target in a perfectly inelastic collision, but studies of the probable impact conditions and asteroid properties indicated that a considerable momentum enhancement (\(\beta\)) was possible. In the years prior to impact, we used lightcurve observations to accurately determine the pre-impact orbit parameters of Dimorphos with respect to Didymos. Here we report the change in the orbital period of Dimorphos as a result of the DART kinetic impact to be -33.0 +/- 1.0 (3\(\sigma\)) minutes. Using new Earth-based lightcurve and radar observations, two independent approaches determined identical values for the change in the orbital period. This large orbit period change suggests that ejecta contributed a significant amount of momentum to the asteroid beyond what the DART spacecraft carried.
To pay for the changes, Lloyds is scrapping its 0.08pc after tax interest (0.1pc before tax) for those in credit on its standard Classic account, and is dropping the credit interest rate on the ...Classic Plus account by one percentage point to 1.2pc after tax (1.5pc).
Insulin-like growth factor I is an autocrine/paracrine factor for vascular smooth muscle cells and is required for angiotensin II- and thrombin-induced mitogenesis. The insulin-like growth factor ...I-triggered signaling pathway involves autophosphorylation of the β-subunit of its tyrosine kinase receptor and phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate-1, the latter providing binding sites for proteins with src homology-2 domains. In rat aortic smooth muscle cells we observed that both angiotensin II and thrombin induced rapid tyrosine phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate-1. Our results also demonstrated that these mitogens rapidly stimulated phosphorylation of the insulin-like growth factor I receptor β-chain. These data demonstrate a novel interaction between the G-protein coupled angiotensin II and thrombin receptors and the tyrosine-kinase insulin-like growth factor I receptor.
