This paper proposes a new load shedding method based on the application of a Dual Neural Network (NN). The combination of a Back-Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) and of Particle Swarm Optimization ...(PSO) aims to quickly predict and propose a load shedding strategy when a fault occurs in the microgrid (MG) system. The PSO algorithm has the ability to search and compare multiple points, so the proposed NN training method helps determine the link weights faster and stronger. As a result, the proposed method saves training time and achieves higher accuracy. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) algorithm is applied to rank the loads based on their importance factor. The results of the ratings of the loads serve as a basis for constructing the load shedding strategies of a NN combined with the PSO algorithm (ANN-PSO). The proposed load shedding method is tested on an IEEE 25-bus 8-generator MG power system. The simulation results show that the frequency recovery of the power system is positive. The proposed neural network adapts well to the simulated data of the system and achieves high performance in fault prediction.
The flavor structure of quarks and leptons is not yet fully understood, but it hints a more fundamental theory of nonuniversal generations. We therefore propose a simple extension of the Standard ...Model by flipping (i.e., enlarging) the hypercharge U ( 1 ) Y to U ( 1 ) X ⊗ U ( 1 ) N for which both X and N depend on generations of both quark and lepton. By anomaly cancellation, this extension not only explains the existence of just three fermion generations as observed but also requires the presence of a right-handed neutrino per generation, which motivates seesaw neutrino mass generation. Furthermore, in its minimal version with a scalar doublet and two scalar singlets, the model naturally generates the measured fermion-mixing matrices while it successfully accommodates several flavor anomalies observed in the neutral meson mixings, B -meson decays, lepton-flavor-violating processes of charged leptons, as well as satisfying constraints from particle colliders. The prevalence of HIV/sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) was determined, the risk characteristics examined, and factors associated with HIV infection identified among noninstitutionalized female ...sex workers (FSWs), using a cross-sectional survey with 2-stage cluster sampling. Four hundred FSWs were interviewed face to face using a structured questionnaire and tested for HIV, syphilis, Chlamydia infection, and gonorrhea. HIV seroprevalence was 12%, syphilis 17% (using the treponemal pallidum hemagglutination assay), Chlamydia infection 3.8% (using polymerase chain reaction PCR), and gonorrhea 6.3% (PCR). Lower-class FSWs averaged 2 clients per day, and middle-class FSWs about 1.2. Median duration in sex work was 2.3 years. Consistent condom use was 63% with irregular clients, 41% with regular clients, and only 4.8% with "love mates." Fifty-five percent had had sex with a drug user(s). Thirty-eight percent used drugs, of whom 83% injected. Factors associated with HIV included being young, having a low level of education, longer residence in Hanoi, being a lower-class FSW, having higher income compared with peers, perception of self being at low risk for HIV, poor knowledge of HIV, and sharing injecting equipment. Intervention strategies should include reduction of both stigmatization and sharing of drug paraphernalia, promotion of nonstigmatizing voluntary testing and counseling, and aggressive marketing and promotion of condoms.

Firm conclusion about whether short and long-term gout medications use has an impact on cancer risk remain inconclusive. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between gout drugs use and risk of cancer.
We conducted a retrospective longitudinal population-based case-control study in Taiwan. Cases were identified all patients who were aged 20years or above, and had a first time diagnosis of cancers for the period between 2001 and 2011. Adjusted odds ratios (AORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated by using conditional logistic regression.
We examined 601,733 cases and 2,406,932 matched controls. The adjusted odd ratio for any gout drugs use and overall cancer risk was 1.007 (95% CI: 0.994–1.020). There was a significant risk of leukemia (AOR: 1.34, 95% CI: 1.20–1.50), endometrial cancer (AOR: 1.33, 95% CI: 1.12–1.57), non-Hodgkin's (AOR: 1.24, 95% CI: 1.13–1.35), female breast cancer (AOR: 1.21, 95% CI: 1.13–1.29), cervical cancer (AOR: 1.21, 95% CI: 1.07–1.37). However, no association was observed in male group (AOR: 0.97, 95% CI: 0.95–0.98) but female showed a significantly increased risk of cancer at any site (AOR: 1.107, 95% CI: 1.08–1.13).
In summary, our results suggest that gout drugs increase risk of the most common cancers, particularly in leukemia, non-Hodgkin's, endometrial, breast and cervical cancer.
A fuel cell-type electrochemical device has been used to enrich microbes oxidizing acetate with concomitant electricity generation without using an electron mediator from activated sludge. The device ...generated a stable current of around 5 mA with complete oxidation of 5 mM acetate at the hydraulic retention time of 2.5 h after 4 weeks of enrichment. Over 70% of electrons available from acetate oxidation was recovered as current. Carbon monoxide or hydrogen did not influence acetate oxidation or current generation from the microbial fuel cell (MFC). Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis showed that DNA extracted from the acetate-enriched MFC had different 16S rDNA patterns from those of sludge or glucose+glutamate-enriched MFCs. Nearly complete 16S rDNA sequence analyses showed that diverse bacteria were enriched in the MFC fed with acetate. Electron microscopic observations showed biofilm developed on the electrode, but not microbial clumps observed in MFCs fed with complex fuel such as glucose and wastewater from a corn-processing factory.

Coir, known as coconut fibers, are an abundant cellulosic source in Vietnam, which are mostly discarded when copra and coconut water are taken, causing environmental pollution and waste of ...potential biomass. In this research, carbon aerogels from chemically pretreated coir were successfully synthesized via simple sol-gel process with NaOH-urea solution, economical freeze-drying, and carbonization. The samples, including pretreated coir, coir aerogels, and carbon aerogels, are characterized using FTIR spectroscopy, SEM, XRD spectroscopy, and TGA. The carbon aerogels exhibit low density (0.034–0.047 g/cm
3
), high porosity (97.63–98.32 %), and comparable motor oil sorption capacity (22.71 g/g). The properties of carbon aerogels are compared with those of coir aerogels, indicating such better values than those of coir aerogels. Coir-derived carbon aerogels is a potential replacement for the hydrophobically-coated cellulose aerogels in term of treating oil spills.
This open access book examines the teaching and learning of English for employability in Vietnamese higher education. Its content is framed within one country to better examine the research issues ...within the influence of contextual factors. This book investigates how English can contribute to the development of students' employability capitals, particularly in the aspects of human capital, social capital, cultural capital, identity capital, and psychological capital. It presents employers' and employees’ perspectives of how and why English is increasingly important for career development. This book is a collection of discussions and viewpoints from teachers, students, and other stakeholders like employers, graduates, and course coordinators on current practices and their proposed improvements to prepare students for their future education, work and life. Based on empirical evidence, this book calls for repositioning English language education within the employability agenda to elevate its status and increase stakeholders' engagement. This book contributes to current debates on advancing the effectiveness of English language education in non-English speaking countries, as a response to internationalization and globalization.
Characterization of HIV-1 strains is important for surveillance of the HIV-1 epidemic. In Vietnam HIV-1-infected pregnant women often fail to receive the care they are entitled to. Here, we analyzed ...phylogenetically HIV-1 env sequences from 37 HIV-1-infected pregnant women from Ha Noi (n=22) and Hai Phong (n=15), where they delivered in 2005-2007. All carried CRF01_AE in the gp120 V3 region. In 21 women CRF01_AE was also found in the reverse transcriptase gene. We compared their env gp120 V3 sequences phylogenetically in a maximum likelihood tree to those of 198 other CRF01_AE sequences in Vietnam and 229 from neighboring countries, predominantly Thailand, from the HIV-1 database. Altogether 464 sequences were analyzed. All but one of the maternal sequences colocalized with sequences from northern Vietnam. The maternal sequences had evolved the least when compared to sequences collected in Ha Noi in 2002, as shown by analysis of synonymous and nonsynonymous changes, than to other Vietnamese sequences collected earlier and/or elsewhere. Since the HIV-1 epidemic in women in Vietnam may still be underestimated, characterization of HIV-1 in pregnant women is important to observe how HIV-1 has evolved and follow its molecular epidemiology.
