Genistein is a compound with structures and properties similar to 17β estradiol which can be extracted from pigeon pie. The aim of the study was to identify the genistein profiles of pigeon pie in ...blood, urine, and feces and their effects on uterine and vaginal tissue structures of rats. Nine female white rats of Sprague Dawley, 6-7 months, weighing 150-180 g, were used and given pigeon pie seed solution for 36 days, genistein profiles were analyzed using HPLC, uterine and vaginal tissue structures were analyzed with HE staining. The results showed that the genistein contained in pigeon pie was lower than that in the synthetic genistein; vaginal epithelials and uterine proliferations were indicated. To conclude, pigeon pie was found to contain genistein which is a potential alternative for a natural estrogen source.
The use of local wisdom as learning resources has been widely known to be able to create meaningful learning. The purposes of this study were to 1) produce module based on freshwater fish anatomy as ...local wisdom in Ngebel Lake, Ponorogo and 2) find the quality of the module produced. The Research and Development (R&D) was designed based on the Thiagarajan model which consisted of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating stages. The data were collected using interview guidelines, validation sheets, and students’ response questionnaire. The validation results of the media, material, and language experts showed that the module was very valid with the percentages were 86.5%, 88.2%, and 85.3% respectively. In addition, the student responses reached 87.9% (very good). In conclusion, the fish anatomy learning module based on local wisdom is appropriate to be used as learning resource.
The use of estrogen hormone by public has significantly been improved either as prevention or treatment of disease. Menopausal issues in women are often treated using hormone replacement therapy. In ...regard to this, yam bean is found to contain genistein and daidzein compounds with a chemical structure that resembles estrogen hormone, therefore yam bean is categorized in the phytoestrogen group. The purpose of this study was to identify the potential of yam bean on ovarian and uterine histology of mice. This research employed a Completely Randomized Design of experimental research approach of one factor namely yam bean in three different dosage treatment: 0.3 g/kg, 0.6 g/kg, and 0.9 g/kg of yam bean for 24 days. The surgery and organ harvesting of ovary and uterus were conducted on Day 25 along with the making of histological preparat using paraffin method and Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The data was then analyzed descriptively. This research found that there were both secondary and tertiary follicle proliferation as the antrum contains some estrogen level. Meanwhile, the endometrial tissue of the uterus experienced uterine glandular proliferation. To conclude, yam bean was found to be a natural estrogen source.
Abstract
Smoked fish processing waste has a high nutritional content that can be used as a raw material for fish feed (pellets). One standard of fish pellets based on BSN is there must be no ...aflatoxin content produced from Aspergilus flavus. Qualitative analysis of aflatoxin content can be seen from the presence or absence of A. flavus fungi. In this study the identification of fungi on pellets, fish, and water for maintenance is discussed. Pellets made from smoked fish processing waste are grouped into: K.0 (control), K.1 (100% raw material + 0% fish feed), K.2 (70% raw material + 30% fish feed), K.3 ( 40% raw material + 60% fish feed), and K.4 (10% raw material + 90% fish feed). Pellets were given to African catfish for 30 days of maintenance. The identification of fungi was carried out on pellets, African catfish, and pond water. The identification results in three fungi namely Rhizopus oryzae, Aspergilus niger, and Fusarium oxysporum.

Toksisitas merupakan sifat bawaan suatu zat, bentuk dan tingkat manifestasi toksiknya pada suatu organisme, faktor yang nyata adalah dosis dan lamanya paparan senyawa pada organ. Umbi bengkuang segar (Pachyrhizus erosus) yang mengandung fitoestrogen agar dapat digunakan secara aman, efektif dan efisien, maka diperlukan uji praklinis dengan melakukan analisis toksisitas fitoestrogen, untuk mengetahui tingkat keamanannya secara pasti. Metode yang digunakan penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan toksisitas fitoestrogen, pada daidzein dan air perasan umbi bengkuang (Pachyrhizus erosus). Rancangan penelitian eksperimen dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Hasil uji statisik dengan menggunakana T-test Pairs, menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan nyata jumlah sel nekrosis tubulus dan glomerulus, dengan perlakuan pemberian daidzein sintetis dan air perasan umbi bengkuang (Pachyrhizus erosus). Sehingga hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa fitoestrogen umbi bengkuang(Pachyrhizus erosus) tidak bersifat toksik.

The study was carried out to find out the secondary metabolite compounds in mango leaf extract (Mangifera indica L. var. gadung) using qualitative, quantitative, LC-MS and antibacterial activity with well diffusion method in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. Research used a quantitative approach of randomized block design with variations of concentrations of 60, 80, and 100%, K- (aquadest), and K+ (chloramphenicol) in three times repeated groups. The results of qualitative and quantitative phytochemical tests show that mango leaf extract contains flavonoids (63408.464 mg/kg), saponins 3212.942 mg/kg), tannins (1050.191 mg/kg), alkaloids (605.123 mg/kg) and steroid (1050.191 mg/kg). Test of flavonoid derivat extract using LC-MS shows apigenin, kaempferol, fisetin, catechins, quercetin, ramnetin, astragalin, hirsutrin, isocercitrin, hyperin, rhamnetin 3-glucoside, rhamnetin 3-o-?galactopyranoside, isorhamnetin 3-galactoside, amentoflavone, routine, hyperin-6-gallate, epigallocycin (4??8) epigallocycin-3-ogalate ester. Antibacterial testing on S. aureus forms an average clear zone diameter of 30.46, 31.43, 32.81 mm furthermor in E.coli is 23.23, 23.84, 24.23 mm. Data of clear zone diameter was analyzed using ANOVA two-way and showed a value of sg. 0,001<0,05. It can be concluded that Indonesian gadung mango leaf extract contains secondary metabolites which have the potential to be an antibacterial agent.
Genitri (Elaeocarpus sphaericus Schum.) is an endemic plant of Indonesia that has not been widely cultivated and utilized. The use of genitri is usually as road shade, firewood, seeds for jewelry. ...The results showed that the diversity of chemical compounds genitri had potential for health. The aim of the study was to analyze the potential of genitri to leukocytes and lung tissue structure of wistar rats induced by influenza virus. The study used an experimental approach, with experimental animals in the form of 24 male wistar rats in 4 treatment groups, P0 negative control, P1 influenza virus induction (positive control), P2 influenza virus induction and given genitri leaf, and P3 influenza virus induction and given genitry seeds. Virus induction on day 0 and day 14. Leaves and seeds were given on the 3rd day. Surgery was performed on day 5 and day 33. The number of leukocytes were calculated using microhematocrit, and identified leukocytes and lung tissue structure staining with HE staining. The results showed that genitry seeds could increase the number of leukocytes up to 13,000 cells/µL, the size of the alveoli diameter was 31.48 m, the size of the alveolar septum was 12.02 m.
