Two coordination polymers with formulas CuI(dapym) n and Cu2I2(dapym) n (dapym = 2,4-diaminopyrimidine) have been synthesized in water at room temperature. According to the stoichiometry used, mono ...(1D) and the two-dimensional (2D) structures can be obtained. Both are made up of Cu2I2 double chains. Their high insolubility in the reaction medium also makes it possible to obtain them on a nanometric scale. Their structural flexibility and short Cu–Cu distances provoke interesting optoelectronic properties and respond to physical stimuli such as pressure and temperature, making them interesting for sensor applications. The experimental and theoretical studies allow us to propose different emission mechanisms with different behaviors despite containing the same organic ligand. These behaviors are attributed to their structural differences. The emission spectra versus pressure and temperature suggest competencies between different transitions, founding critical Cu2I2 environments, i.e., symmetric in the 1D compound and asymmetric for the 2D one. The intensity in the 2D compound’s emission increases with decreasing temperature, and this behavior can be rationalized with a structural constriction that decreases the Cu–Cu and Cu–I distances. However, compound 1D exhibits a contrary behavior that may be related to a change of the organic ligand’s molecular configuration. These changes imply that a more significant Π–Π interaction counteracts the contraction in distances and angles when the temperature decreased. Also, the experimental conductivity measurements and theoretical calculations show a semiconductor behavior. The absorption of the 1D compound in UV, its intense emission at room temperature, and the reduction to nanometric size have allowed us to combine it homogeneously with ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), creating a new composite material. The external quantum efficiency of this material in a Si photovoltaic mini-module has shown that this compound is an active species with application in solar cells since it can move the photons of the incident radiation (UV region) to longer wavelengths.
The term «Third World» today smells very strongly of xenophobia, ethnocentrism, classism or at least paternalism. Even in the poorer neighborhoods of the northern hemisphere there is talk of ..."third-world conditions" when urban, health, labor or educational facilities are deficient. Living or coming from a "third world" territory causes an immediate social stigma from the Eurocentric perspective. "Third World" implies underdevelopment, and underdevelopment, under an economic model that confuses development with well-being, industrial progress with cultural progress, can only be an economic, political and demographic disqualification.

Undoped and Eu3þ-doped cubic yttria (Y2O3) nanophosphors of good crystallinity, with selective particle sizes ranging between 6 and 37 nm and showing narrow size distributions, have been synthesized ...by a complex-based precursor solution method. The systematic size tuning has been evidenced by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Raman scattering measurements. Furthermore, sizemodulated properties of Eu3þ ions have been correlated with the local structure of Eu3þ ion in different sized Y2O3:Eu3þ nanophosphors by means of steady-state and time-resolved site-selective laser spectroscopies.
Time-resolved site-selective excitation measurements performed in the 7F0 / 5D0 peaks of the Eu3þ ions at C2 sites have allowed us to conclude that Eu3þ ions close to the nanocrystal surface experience a larger crystal field than those in the nanocrystal core. Under the site-selective excitation in the 7F0 / 5D0 peaks, energy transfer between the sites has also been observed. KCI Citation Count: 18

The aim was to evaluate the value of microperimetry (MP) in the early detection of toxic maculopathy caused by HCQ treatment in patients with normal fundoscopy, as well as normal structural optical ...coherence tomography (OCT).
Microperimetry was performed in 13 patients under hydroxychloroquine treatment, who did not present fundoscopic or structural OCT alterations compatible with maculopathy. We used Nidek MP3s equipment (Nidek, Gamagori, Japan) with a 13-point pattern centered in fovea, in mesopic mode and in scotopic mode.
The mean retinal sensitivity (MRS) in the study group was 27.25 +/ - 2.80 dB (95% CI 26.09 to 28.41 dB) while in the group of healthy volunteers 29.34 +/ - 2.18 dB (95% CI 28.67 to 30.1 dB). In scotopic mode, the mean sensitivity was 13.38 +/ - 1.43 dB (95% CI 12.79 to 13.97 dB) for HCQ users and 14.40 +/ - 2.1 dB (95% CI 13.76 to 15.04 dB) in the non-user group. Central retinal sensitivity (CRS) was also lower in patients using HCQ 26.52 +/ -4.0 dB (95% CI 24.8 to 28.15 dB) vs. 29.06 +/ - 2.5 dB (95% CI 28.33 to 29.87 dB) in the control group in mesopic mode. The trend was repeated in scotopic CRS (10.85 +/ -1.84 dB vs. 12.16 +/ - 2.61 dB respectively).
Our results showed that MP, especially in its mesopic mode, is a useful method to detect retinal toxicity caused by HCQ consumption in patients without funduscopic alteration and with normal macular OCT.
In mesopic mode, MRS was significantly lower in patients with long-term hydroxychloroquine treatment compared to those who did not use it, even in cases in which no fundoscopic or structural OCT alteration was detected.
HCQ = hydroxychloroquine, MP = microperimetry, OCT = optical coherence tomography, BCVA = best corrected visual acuity, CRS = central retinal sensitivity, RS = retinal sensitivity, GEE = generalized estimating equations, MRS = mean retinal sensitivity, MfERG = multifocal electroretinogram, AMD = age-related macular degeneration.

•Fine size tuning of cubic nano Y2O3:Eu3+ samples synthesized by a complex based precursor solution method.•Size tunning evidenced by broadening and shift of XRD and Raman scattering peaks.•No additional phases other than cubic have been detected neither with XRD nor with Raman scattering.•Electronic Raman scattering evidences the occupation of Eu ions substituting Y ions in S6 sites.•A progressive distortion of the C2 sites near the nanocrystal surface is evidenced by photoluminescence measurements.
The decision-making in clinical nursing, regarding diagnoses, interventions and outcomes, can be assessed using standardized language systems such as NANDA International, the Nursing Interventions ...Classification and the Nursing Outcome Classification; these taxonomies are the most commonly used by nurses in informatized clinical records. The purpose of this review is to synthesize the evidence on the effectiveness of the nursing process with standardized terminology using the NANDA International, the Nursing Interventions Classification and the Nursing Outcome Classification in care practice to assess the association between the presence of the related/risk factors and the clinical decision-making about nursing diagnosis, assessing the effectiveness of nursing interventions and health outcomes, and increasing people’s satisfaction. A systematic review was carried out in Medline and PreMedline (OvidSP), Embase (Embase-Elsevier), The Cochrane Library (Wiley), CINAHL (EbscoHOST), SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI and Scielo (WOS), LILACS (Health Virtual Library) and SCOPUS (SCOPUS-Elsevier) and included randomized clinical trials as well as quasi-experimental, cohort and case-control studies. Selection and critical appraisal were conducted by two independent reviewers. The certainty of the evidence was assessed with the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation Methodology. A total of 17 studies were included with variability in the level and certainty of evidence. According to the outcomes, 6 studies assessed diagnostic decision-making and 11 assessed improvements in individual health outcomes. No studies assessed improvements in intervention effectiveness or population satisfaction. There is a need to increase studies with rigorous methodologies that address clinical decision-making about nursing diagnoses using NANDA International and individuals’ health outcomes using the Nursing Interventions Classification and the Nursing Outcome Classification as well as implementing studies that assess the use of these terminologies for improvements in the effectiveness of nurses’ interventions and population satisfaction with the nursing process.
Grieving is a natural, self-limiting process of adaptation to a new reality following a significant loss, either real or perceived, with a wide range of manifestations that have an impact on the ...health of the grieving individual. This study aims to analyse the relationships between interpersonal styles, coping strategies, and psychosocial care needs in a sample of mourners in a rural municipality. Initial hypothesis: there are associations between types of grief and psychosocial needs, as well as between types of grief and interpersonal styles or coping strategies. An observational, descriptive, analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 123 people. Female participants represented 64.2% of all participants. The mean age was 42.7 (±13.2) years, and 86.2% of participants reported continuing to suffer from the loss, with a 10.5% prevalence of
. Regarding the associations identified between coping strategies and the interpersonal characteristics of the mourners, we found that those with the best coping scores described themselves as self-confident, boastful, jovial, forceful, gentle-hearted, self-assured, outgoing, and/or neighbourly. By contrast, mourners who obtained poorer coping scores self-identified as shy, unsparkling, timid, unsociable, unbold, and/or bashful. This provides a clinical profile linked to
in which emotional, self-perception, and social problems are prevalent.
The information logged by nurses on electronic health records (EHRs) using standardised nursing languages can help us identify the characteristics of highly complex chronic patients (HCCP) by ...focusing on care in terms of patients' health needs. The aim of this study was to describe the profile of HCCPs using EHRs from primary care (PC) facilities, presenting patients' characteristics, functional status based on health patterns, NANDA-I nursing diagnoses, health goals based on Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC), and care interventions using Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC). With an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, epidemiological study design, this study was carried out with a sample of 51,374 individuals. The variables were grouped into sociodemographic variables, clinical variables, resources, functional status (health patterns), nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and interventions. A total of 57.4% of the participants were women, with a mean age of 73.3 (12.2), and 51% were frail or dependent. Prevalent conditions included high blood pressure (87.2%), hyperlipidaemia (80%), osteoarthritis (67.8%), and diabetes (56.1%). The participants were frequent users of healthcare services, with 12.1% admitted to hospital in the past year. Some 49.2% had one to four health patterns assessed, with more information on biological and functional aspects than on psychosocial aspects. The mean number of nursing diagnoses was 7.3 (5.2), NOC outcomes 5.1 (4.1), and NIC interventions 8.1 (6.9). Moderately and highly significant differences were observed between dysfunction in physical activity/exercise health pattern and age group, and between dysfunction in other health patterns and classification as a frail or dependent elderly person. Regarding the presence of certain nursing diagnoses, significant differences were observed by age group, classification of elderly person status, and presence of diseases. A total of 20 NIC interventions showed moderately or relatively strong associations for older age groups, higher levels of dependency, and chronic health conditions.
