This study presents a novel three-level neutral-point-clamped quasi-Z-source inverter in the single-stage buck-boost multilevel inverter family. The topology was derived by combining the properties ...of the quasi-Z-source network with those of a three-level neutral point clamped inverter. It features such advantages as low voltage stress of the switches, single-stage buck-boost power conversion, continuous input current, short-circuit withstandability and low total harmonic distortion of the output voltage and current. The authors present a steady state analysis of the topology along with a special modulation technique to distribute shoot-through states during the whole fundamental period. Component design guidelines for a single-phase case study system are described. All the findings have been confirmed by simulations and experiments. The topology could be recommended for applications requiring continuous input current, high input voltage gain and enhanced quality of the output voltage.
This study analyze factors associated to cannabis use in pregnant women, its perceived availability, its risk perception and the relationship between prenatal exposure to cannabis and developmental ...and mental disorders.
We present a review of the literature on cannabis use among pregnant women. The objective is to analyze factors associated to cannabis use during pregnancy and assess the potential effects of prenatal exposure to cannabis on the development of the fetus and the mental health of those exposed.
Systematic review of studies on the maternal use of cannabis and the relationship between early exposure and the development of psychiatric disorders in the PubMed database until July 2018 in English and Spanish with the following keywords: Marijuana, Cannabinoids, Mental disorders, Pregnancy, Prenatal Cannabis Exposure, Risk factors.
The use of cannabis among pregnant women is frequent but it has not been extensively researched. Prenatal exposure to cannabis may be associated with affective symptoms and ADHD.
Mental healthcare professionals who treat women during their fertile life need to be able to explain the relationship between prenatal exposure to cannabis and the presence of developmental and mental disorders.
Anomia is common in Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA), and there is considerable evidence that semantic problems (as opposed to impaired access to output word phonology) exist in many PPA individuals ...irrespective of their strict subtype, including a loss of representations from semantic memory, which is typical for people with the semantic variant of PPA. In this manuscript we present a straightforward novel clinical algorithm that quantifies this degree of semantic storage impairment. We sought to produce an algorithm by employing tasks that would measure key elements of semantic storage loss: a) whether an unrecalled name could be retrieved with cues; b) if performance for items was consistent across tasks; and c) the degree to which a participant's performance was related to general severity of cognitive impairment rather than semantic loss. More specifically, these tasks were given to 28 individuals with PPA (12 participants had a clinical diagnosis of atypical Alzheimer's Disease with the logopenic variant of PPA; the remaining 16 participants received a clinical diagnosis of Frontotemporal dementia (11 were classified as the non-fluent variant of PPA and five were the semantic variant of PPA). Scores from these tasks produced a single omnibus semantic memory storage loss score (SSL score) for each person that ranged from 0.0 to 1.0, with scores closer to 0 more indicative of semantic storage loss. Indeed, supporting the hypothesis that our scores measure the degree of semantic storage loss, we found participants with the semantic variant of PPA had the lowest scores, and SSL scores could predict the degree of hypometabolism in the anterior temporal lobe; even when only people with the logopenic variant of PPA were examined. Thus, these scores show promise quantitating the degree of a person's semantic representation loss.
Abstract The initiation of the program Mental Health Support Program for Coronavirus Infection addressed the increased demand for mental health services in the province of Salamanca, resulting from ...the COVID-19 pandemic. The psychiatry service provided care for COVID-19 patients, their families, and healthcare workers who treated them, as these groups were identified as being at risk. This study aims to describe the assistance provided, including personnel and resources utilized, types of interventions carried out, and to assess the demand for mental health care and predominant symptoms and emotions experienced by patients. Billboards and the complex’s intranet publicized the program. Specific clinical approach using telemedicine were provide from March 2020 to December 2021 to COVID-19 patients, their relatives, and healthcare workers. 216 patients were included with a mean age of 53.2 years, with women comprising 77.3% of this group. All the groups received treatment in similar proportions. Over a period of 730 h, a total of 1376 interventions were performed, with an average duration of 31.8 min per intervention. The program could treat 79.6% of these patients without requiring referrals to other services. When the program concluded, only 21 participants (9.7%) were discharged to the local mental health network to continue their mental health treatment. The program effectively reduced the burden on regular mental health services due to its ability to treat most patients without requiring referrals. The program was able to attend to most mental health requests with minimal involvement of the regular mental health service.
Electroencephalography is a method of detecting and analyzing electrical activity in the brain. This electrical activity can be recorded and processed to aid in the clinical diagnosis of mental ...disorders. In this study, a novel system for classifying schizophrenia patients from EEG recordings is presented. The developed algorithm decomposes the EEG signals into a system of radial basis functions using the method of fuzzy means. This decomposition helps to obtain the information from the various electrodes of the EEG and allows separating between healthy controls and patients with schizophrenia. The proposed method has been compared with classical machine learning algorithms, such as, K-Nearest Neighbor, Adaboost, Support Vector Machine, and Bayesian Linear Discriminant Analysis. The results show that the proposed method obtains the highest values in terms of balanced accuracy, recall, precision and F1 score, close to 93 % in all cases. The model developed in this study can be implemented in brain activity analysis systems that help in the prediction of patients with schizophrenia.
Quasi‐impedance‐source inverter topologies require the insertion of short‐circuit states of the DC‐link to achieve the boost feature. Unlike traditional strategies that implement full short‐circuits ...in the legs of the inverter, new control methods based on space vector modulation (SVM) introduce these states by alternately short‐circuiting the two halves of the DC‐link, improving the harmonic performance and efficiency of the converter. However, because of the complexity involved in the implementation of these SVM strategies, simpler and more direct control techniques are needed. In this study, a new carrier‐based strategy for the control of a three‐level T‐Type quasi‐Z‐source inverter (qZS 3L‐TI), which implements the half‐DC‐link short‐circuit states, is validated through several experimental tests under rated power conditions. The experimental results indicate that the new carrier‐based technique shows improved harmonic performance, lower semiconductor stress, and a better efficiency than the traditional full shoot‐through strategy. Based on these results and the simplicity of implementation, the new carrier‐based control strategy proves to be a competitive alternative for the control of qZS 3L‐TI.
