The thin films were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), ...Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmittance electron microscopy (TEM), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), and UV-Visible spectroscopy. It was shown that introducing TBA increases the crystallinity, grain size, surface morphology without pin-hole, and roughness of the MAPbI

We demonstrate a series of organic-inorganic nanocomposite materials combining the mesoporous silica (PS) and benzil (BZL) nanocrystals embedded into its nanochannels (6.0-13.0 nm in diameter) by ...capillary crystallization. One aims to design novel, efficient nonlinear optical composite materials in which inactive amorphous host PS-matrix provides a tubular scaffold structure, whereas nonlinear optical functionality results from specific properties of the deposited guest BZL-nanocrystals. A considerable contraction of the BZL melt during its crystallization inside the silica nanochannels results in a formation of the texture consisting of (221)- and (003)-oriented BZL nanoclusters (22 nm in length), separated by voids. Specificity of the textural morphology similarly to the spatial confinement significantly influences the nonlinear optical features of composite PS:BZL materials being explored in the second harmonic generation (SHG) experiment. The light polarization anisotropy of the SHG response appears to be considerably reduced at channel diameters larger than 7 nm apparently due to the multiple scattering and depolarization of the light on randomly distributed and crystallographically oriented BZL-nanoclusters. The normalized SHG response decreases nonlinearly by more than one order of magnitude as the channel diameter decreases from 13.0 to 6.0 nm and vanishes when spatial cylindrical confinement approaches the sizes of a few molecular layers suggesting that the embedded BZL clusters indeed are not uniformly crystalline but are characterized by more complex morphology consisting of a disordered SHG-inactive amorphous shell, covering the channel wall, and SHG-active crystalline core. Understanding and controlling of the textural morphology in inorganic-organic nanocrystalline composites as well as its relationships with nonlinear optical properties can lead to the development of novel efficient nonlinear optical materials for the light energy conversion with prospective optoelectronic and photonic applications.

solution on cathodes, which were modified by laser induction of a copper surface, was studied. The topography of ...laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) → grooves → spikes was successively formed by a certain number of pulses. It was proved that for a higher number of laser pulses, the surface area of the copper cathode increases and preferred platy orientation of the copper surface on 022 crystallografic direction and larger fluence values increase. At the same time, the content of copper (I) oxide on the surface of the copper cathode increases. Also, the tendency to larger fluency values is observed. It promotes the increase of cathodic current density for CO

In this work, the second- and third-order nonlinear optical response of spin-deposited thin films of three different push−pull side chain azobenzene polymers is investigated by the second- and ...third-harmonic Maker fringes techniques using 30 ps laser pulses at a fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm. Measurements were carried out before and after aligning the chromophores by corona poling of the films, while different polarization configurations have been utilized. Strong dependence of the response upon the structure of the systems has been found, which is related to the different charge transfer within the molecules. The reported findings are compared with already published results.
We present the nonlinear absorption investigation of an electroactive ligand and two ruthenium and iron metal complexes under 532 nm, 30 ps laser excitation, by the "open aperture" Z-scan technique. ...Significant nonlinear optical parameters have in all cases been measured, while the nonlinear attribute has been found to change from saturable to reverse saturable absorption between the initial ligand and its complexes.
In this study, new photonics architectures and aurone-based methacrylic polymers were designed and synthesized for their optical and nonlinear optical properties. The studied polymeric thin films ...were deposited by spin coating method. SHG and THG effects were measured via Maker fringe technique in transmission mode and determined using theoretical models. Investigations involved the theoretical quantum chemical calculation of dipole moments, frontier molecular orbital HOMO and LUMO energies, and first (β) and second (γ) hyperpolarizabilities. We determined the impact of the substitution in the para position of the phenyl ring and at the dipole moment of the chromophore on the nonlinear optical properties of the investigated polymers. The presented theoretical and experimental studies provide important information with respect to the design of methacrylic-based polymeric thin film devices and supplement existing knowledge with respect to their nonlinear behaviour.
Theoretical and experimental investigations of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of composite materials based on the (Z)-4-(1-cyano-2-(5-methylfuran-2-yl)vinyl)benzonitrile molecule named ...as A, the (Z)-4-(2-(benzofuran-2-yl)-1-cyanovinyl)benzonitrile named as B and the (Z)-4-(2-(4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)-1-cyanovinyl)benzonitrile molecule named as C embedded into poly(1-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) polymer matrix were performed. The electronic and optical properties of A, B, and C molecules in a vacuum and PVK were calculated. The guest-host polymer structures for A, B, and C molecules in PVK were modeled using molecular dynamics simulations. The spatial distribution of chromophores in the polymer matrix was investigated using the intermolecular radial distribution (RDF) function. The reorientation of A, B, and C molecules under the influence of the external electric field was investigated by measuring the time-dependent arrangement of the angle between the dipole moment of the chromophore and the external electric field. The polarizabilities and hyperpolarizabilities of tested compounds have been calculated applying the DFT/B3LYP functional. The second- and third-order nonlinear optical properties of the molecule/PVK thin film guest-host systems were investigated by the Maker fringes technique in the picosecond regime at the fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm. The experimental results were confirmed and explained with theoretical simulations and were found to be in good agreement. The modeling of the composites in volumetric and thin-film form explains the poling phenomena caused by the external electric field occurring with the confinement effect.

= Pb, Cd, Ge, Sn, Zn. The paper discusses not only the history, ...general structure, applications of perovskites and the basics of the theory of nonlinear optics, but also the results of experimental research on their structural, spectroscopic, and nonlinear optical properties. The samples used in all presented studies were prepared in the physical vapor deposition process by using co-deposition from two independent thermal sources containing the organic and inorganic parts of individual perovskites. Ultimately, thin layers with a thickness of the order of nanometers were obtained on glass and crystalline substrates. Their structural properties were characterized by atomic force microscopy imaging. Spectroscopic tests were used to confirm the tested films' transmission quality and determine previously unknown physical parameters, such as the absorption coefficient and refractive index. Experimental results of the nonlinear optical properties were obtained by studying the second and third harmonic generation processes and using initial sample polarization in the so-called Corona poling process. The obtained experimental results allowed us to determine the second- and third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility of the tested materials.
A series of methacrylic styrylquinoline polymers have been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic and nonlinear optical (NLO) investigations. The NLO properties of studied polymer compounds ...in the form of thin films prepared by a spin coating method have been investigated by means of second and third harmonic generation via Maker fringe setup with a laser source at 1064 nm and a pulse duration of 30 ps. The results show strong second harmonic signal dependence on polarization configurations. This second harmonic generation (SHG) response was enhanced by UV-irradiation at 366 nm and doping by ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) (100 nm), while the opposite effect was achieved for a third harmonic generation experiment. Thus, values of second and third order nonlinear susceptibilities were determined by theoretical calculations based on comparative models. The remarkable NLO results presented in this paper expose potential optoelectronic and photonic applications.
In this paper, we present the third harmonic generation response of Znq₂ (Bis-(8-hydroxyquinolinato)zinc), Cuq₂ (8-Hydroxyquinoline copper(II)), and Alq₃ (Tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum) ...organometallic compounds. An experiment was conducted for s and p polarizations of incident beam, using the Maker fringes technique. The third order nonlinear susceptibility χ
was estimated using the Kubodera and Kobayashi comparative model, on the grounds that presented compounds exhibit high linear absorption of the generated third harmonic wavelength (355 nm). These complexes were deposited as thin films using the physical vapor deposition (PVD) method. Investigated complexes vary in terms of the coordination center and number of quinoline ligands, which visibly influence their nonlinear response. The global hybrid B3LYP functional with the basis set 6-31G(d) was used in computing the linear and non-linear optical properties. The computed γ
value (8765.36 × 10
esu for Cuq₂) is superior to that of methylene blue (γ = 32.00 × 10
esu). The calculated theoretical values were found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.
