Sourdough production is a complex fermentation process. Natural sourdough fermentation without standardization causes great variability in microbial communities and derived products. Starter cultures ...have emerged as alternatives to natural fermentation processes, which could improve bakery quality and produce bioactive compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the impacts of freeze-drying on the production and viability of sourdoughs with Lactiplantibacillus pentosus 129 (Lp) and Limosilactobacillus fermentum 139 (Lf), as well as their effects on the quality of long-fermentation bread. These strains were selected based on their better performance considering acidification and exopolysaccharide production capacity. Sourdough with Lp and Lf were propagated until the 10th day, when physicochemical and microbiological parameters were determined. The produced sourdoughs were freeze-dried, and bread samples were produced. The freeze-drying process resulted in high survival rates and few impacts on the metabolic activity of Lp and Lf until 60 days of storage. Incorporating Lp and Lf improved the microbiological and physicochemical properties of sourdough and long-fermentation breads. Tested freeze-dried sourdoughs led to reduced bread aging (higher specific volume and decreased starch retrogradation) and increased digestibility. The results show the potential of the freeze-dried sourdoughs produced with Lp and Lf as innovative strategies for standardizing production protocols for the bakery industry, especially for producing long-term fermentation bread.
To estimate the prevalence of hepatitis A virus (HAV) and hepatitis E virus (HEV) among immigrants and refugees in Goiás, Central Brazil.

All participants were from Latin American countries, most of whom, young adult males. The overall anti-HAV IgG prevalence was 87.4% (95%CI: 83.5-90.4), of whom 94.9%, 75.6%, and 60% were from Haiti, Venezuela, and other Latin American countries, respectively (p < 0.001). Age above 19 years and more than 36 months residing in Brazil were associated with a higher prevalence of previous HAV and HEV infection, respectively. Of the children eligible for HAV vaccination according to the National Immunization Program, only eight (44%) had been vaccinated. The overall anti-HEV IgG prevalence was 6.5% (95%CI: 4.4-9.5). All anti-HEV IgG-positive individuals were Haitians, including a child born in Brazil. HEV RNA was detected in two of the anti-HEV IgG-positive samples.
The survey detected a high prevalence of anti-HAV and anti-HEV IgG among immigrants and refugees, and active HEV infection among some Haitian participants. Prevention measures are urgently required to interrupt enteric virus transmission in this emergent and vulnerable population.
Little information regarding hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections among Brazilian female prisoners exists. This study investigated the prevalence and risk factors associated ...with HBV and HCV infections and identified viral genotypes among female prisoners in Goiás, Central Brazil.
Women incarcerated in the largest prison in the State of Goiás were invited to participate in the study. All female prisoners were interviewed and tested for the detection of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), antibodies against HBsAg (anti-HBs), against hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc), and antibody against HCV (anti-HCV) by ELISA. HBsAg and anti-HCV positive samples were tested for HBV DNA and HCV RNA and genotyped, respectively.
Participants (n = 148; 98.6%) completed the study with an overall HBV prevalence of 18.9%. Age >30 years, a low education level, sex with a sexually transmitted diseases carrier, and a male sexual partner serving in the same penitentiary were associated with HBV infections. Only 24% of the women were anti-HBs positive suggesting previous HBV vaccination. Nine female prisoners (6.1%) were anti-HCV positive. Age >40 years, injecting drug use and length of incarceration were statistically associated with anti-HCV antibodies. Five samples were HCV RNA positive and classified as genotypes 1 (subtypes 1a; n = 3 and 1b; n = 1) and 3 (subtype 3a; n = 1). The HBsAg-reactive sample was HBV DNA positive and genotype A.
These findings highlight the necessity of public policies to control hepatitis B and C infections and emphasize the importance of hepatitis B vaccination in prison environments.
In general, extensive green roofs are defined as all cover covered with herbaceous vegetation and surface substratum, however, in Brazil there are few information regarding the materials for ...installation and maintenance of these systems, being essential the search for better species and substrates adapted to the tropical conditions. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the performance of floriferous herbaceous and substrates for use in extensive green roofs. The experiment was carried out in the field and in full sunlight, in black plastic containers (8.46 L and 15.5 cm high), elevated 90 cm from the ground, in a 3x2 factorial scheme. Being 3 herbaceous floriferous species (Torenia var. Kauai, Periwinkle var. Pacifica XP and Petunia var. Bacopa) and 2 substrates S1-Charcoal + pine bark + peat + expanded vermiculite (1v:1v:1v:1v) and S2- Coconut fiber + carbonized rice husk + peat + expanded vermiculite (1v:1v:1v:1v), with 3 replicates per treatment. It was evaluated in the substrates: pH, electrical conductivity, macro and microporosity, total porosity, density and water retention capacity. For the development of the species, 60 days after the experiment installation, were evaluated, chlorophyll content of leaves, number of flowers and vegetation surface temperature. It was observed that the substrate S2 presented the best results in the physico-chemical analyzes, and this possibly came to reflect on the performance of the species, and that Torenia when cultivated in this substrate had the highest chlorophyll content (42.67 SPAD). The number of flowers was statistically the same for Torenia and Periwinkle in both substrates, while the three floriferous herbaceous plants showed a decrease in surface temperature. Thus, it is recommended for use on extensive green roofs the substrate composed of coconut fiber + carbonized rice husk + peat + expanded vermiculite (1v:1v:1v:1v), and the floriferous herbaceous Torenia var. Kauai.
Abstract Objectives The aim of this study was to carry out a review on the effect of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) on the mechanical properties of root dentine. Data/sources The authors searched the ...Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed and the Web of Science for papers published from 1984 to 2008. The main search terms used were: dentine, root canal dentine, sodium hypochlorite, mechanical analysis, elastic modulus, hardness, roughness, flexural strength, compressive strength. Study selection The inclusion criteria were studies that evaluated the effect of NaOCl solution, used as an irrigant in endodontics, on the mechanical properties of root dentine. Those studies that were considered to be unrelated to the question addressed, that had investigated NaOCl as a deproteinizing agent, had not evaluated the effect of NaOCl on the mechanical properties of dentine, and that indirectly verified the effect of NaOCl on endodontically treated teeth were excluded. The selected papers were assigned to a score (A–C), according to predetermined criteria. A total of 16 papers were selected, and nine papers were included in the critical appraisal. Five papers were classified as grade A, 4 as grade B, and no paper was classified as grade C. Conclusions Based on this review, the authors suggest that there is strong evidence showing that sodium hypochlorite adversely alters the mechanical properties of root dentine, when used as an endodontic irrigant.
This study describes the coverage of health insurance and compares the occurrence of risk factors (RF) and protective factors of non-communicable diseases in the population with and without health ...insurancesin Brazilianstate capitals. Data from the telephone survey Vigitel was analyzed. The Poisson regression model was used to estimate the prevalence ratio (PR), comparing RF among those who did or did not have a health insurance. Plan coverage was 49.1 %, and the highest prevalences were in Goiania, Vitória, Florianópolis, and Belo Horizonte. Adults over 55 years of age and with higher education were more likely to have an insurance. The population with health insurance hada higher prevalence of protective factors, such as fruit and vegetable consumption (PR = 1.3 95% CI 1.2-1.3), physical activity in their free time (PR = 1.2 (95% CI: 1.2-1.3), mammographies (RP = 1.2 IC95% 1.1-1.3) and pap smears (PR = 1.1 IC95% 1.2-1.3), and lower prevalence of RFs such as smoking (RP = 0.7, 95% CI 0.6-0.8), poor health (RP = 0.8 CI95% 0.6-0.9), obesity (RP = 0.8 IC95% 0.7-0.9), consumption of meat with fat (RP = 0.9 IC95% 0.8-0.9) and whole milk (RP = 0.9 IC95% 0,8-0.9). Regardless of educational level, the population that has health insurancesgenerally has better indicators, such as healthier habits and greater coverage of preventive exams.

Background
After a cardiac event, few ...patients resume their sexual life with the same intensity and frequency they used to have, and some patients do not even do it. Doubtful and insecure reactions are observed in both patients/partners and health professionals. These behaviours are frequently taboos and preconceptions about sexuality which are still taken as real among us.
Design
Exploratory study.
Methods
Integrative literature review with online search on the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and websites. The most relevant diagnosis in the general literature was compared with International Classification for Nursing Practice and North‐American International Nursing Diagnosis Association. The outcomes were selected from Nursing Outcome Classification, and the interventions and activities were based on the general literature and Nursing Intervention Classification.
Results
Sexual dysfunction was the most relevant diagnosis described in the general literature. The characteristics and related factors were specified in patient's/their partner's verbalisation of the physical difficulties in having sexual activity and in their social and emotional reactions to the disease and to the prescribed medicine. The selected priority results were sexuality and knowledge on sexuality. The counselling intervention was chosen as the most appropriate.
Conclusion
It was possible to get to the wide understanding of the sexual dysfunction as a nursing diagnosis expressed in the daily routine of the care to the postinfarction patient. Its identification requires knowledge and abilities to acknowledge its characteristics and related factors, which served as support for selection of outcomes, interventions and nursing activities.
Relevance to clinical practice
Association between diagnosis, outcomes, interventions and nursing activities established for the postinfarction patient is strategic so as to guide the nurses who operate in the cardiovascular area and may contribute towards refinement of the nursing classifications.
Hemangiosarcoma is a mesenchymal neoplasm originating in the endothelial cells of blood vessels; they can be classified as non-visceral and visceral types. Non-visceral hemangiosarcomas can affect ...the skin, subcutaneous tissues, and muscle tissues; visceral hemangiosarcomas can affect the spleen, liver, heart, lungs, kidneys, oral cavity, bones, bladder, uterus, tongue, and retroperitoneum. Among domestic species, dogs are most affected by cutaneous HSA. Cutaneous HSA represents approximately 14% of all HSA diagnosed in this species and less than 5% of dermal tumors, according to North American studies. However, Brazilian epidemiological data demonstrate a higher prevalence, which may represent 27 to 80% of all canine HSAs and 13.9% of all skin neoplasms diagnosed in this species. Cutaneous HSA most commonly affects middle-aged to elderly dogs (between 8 and 15 years old), with no gender predisposition for either the actinic or non-actinic forms. The higher prevalence of cutaneous HSA in some canine breeds is related to lower protection from solar radiation, as low skin pigmentation and hair coverage lead to greater sun exposure. Actinic changes, such as solar dermatosis, are frequent in these patients, confirming the influence of solar radiation on the development of this neoplasm. There are multiple clinical manifestations of hemangiosarcoma in canines. The diagnostic approach and staging classification of cutaneous HSAs are similar between the different subtypes. The definitive diagnosis is obtained through histopathological analysis of incisional or excisional biopsies. Cytology can be used as a presurgical screening test; however, it has little diagnostic utility in cases of HSA because there is a high risk of blood contamination and sample hemodilution. Surgery is generally the treatment of choice for dogs with localized non-visceral HSA without evidence of metastatic disease. Recently, electrochemotherapy (ECT) has emerged as an alternative therapy for the local ablative treatment of different neoplastic types; the use of radiotherapy for the treatment of dogs with cutaneous HSA is uncommon. There is greater consensus in the literature regarding the indications for adjuvant chemotherapy in subcutaneous and muscular HSA; doxorubicin is the most frequently used antineoplastic agent for subcutaneous and muscular subtypes and can be administered alone or in combination with other drugs. Other therapies include antiangiogenic therapy, photodynamic therapy, the association of chemotherapy with the metronomic dose, targeted therapies, and natural products. The benefits of these therapies are presented and discussed. In general, the prognosis of splenic and cardiac HSA is unfavorable. As a challenging neoplasm, studies of new protocols and treatment modalities are necessary to control this aggressive disease.
A new outbreak of hepatitis of unknown origin raised awareness in the international community. A few reports have attempted to associate new cases with adenovirus infection and the immunologic ...effects of previous SARS-CoV-2 infections through a superantigen mechanism. Moreover, according to a case series, viral isolates were identified in 7 of 10 cases of pediatric patients with hepatitis of unknown origin and acute liver failure. Adenovirus was detected by respiratory secretion polymerase chain reaction in 2 patients, with neither presenting with SARS-CoV-2 acute infection. Clinical and laboratory descriptions and cross-referencing epidemiologic and pathophysiological data can help identify possible disease etiologies.
