We investigate the temperature dependence of the volume and surface components of the nuclear symmetry energy (NSE) and their ratio in the framework of the local density approximation. The results of ...these quantities for finite nuclei are obtained within the coherent density fluctuation model (CDFM). The CDFM weight function is obtained using the temperature-dependent proton and neutron densities calculated through the HFBTHO code that solves the nuclear Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov problem by using the cylindrical transformed deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. We present and discuss the values of the volume and surface contributions to the NSE and their ratio obtained for the Ni, Sn, and Pb isotopic chains around double-magic 78Ni, 132Sn, and 208Pb nuclei. The results for the T-dependence of the considered quantities are compared with estimations made previously for zero temperature showing the behavior of the NSE components and their ratio, as well as with the available experimental data. The sensitivity of the results on various forms of the density dependence of the symmetry energy is studied. We confirm the existence of "kinks" of these quantities as functions of the mass number at T = 0 MeV for the double closed-shell nuclei 78Ni and 132Sn and the lack of "kinks" for the Pb isotopes, as well as the disappearance of these kinks as the temperature increases.
We derive the volume and surface components of the nuclear symmetry energy (NSE) and their ratio within the coherent density fluctuation model. The estimations use the results of the model for the ...NSE in finite nuclei based on the Brueckner and Skyrme energy-density functionals for nuclear matter. The obtained values of the volume and surface contributions to the NSE and their ratio for the Ni, Sn, and Pb isotopic chains are compared with estimations of other approaches which have used available experimental data on binding energies, neutron-skin thicknesses, and excitation energies to isobaric analog states (IAS). Apart from the density dependence investigated in our previous works, we study also the temperature dependence of the symmetry energy in finite nuclei in the framework of the local density approximation combining it with the self-consistent Skyrme-HFB method using the cylindrical transformed deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. The results for the thermal evolution of the NSE in the interval T = 0-4 MeV show that its values decrease with temperature. The investigations of the T-dependence of the neutron and proton root-mean-square radii and the corresponding neutron skin thickness point out that the effect of temperature leads mainly to a substantial increase of the neutron radii and skins, especially in nuclei which are more rich of neutrons.
We study the two-neutrino double- β decay in 76Ge, 116Cd, 128Te, 130Te, and 150Nd, as well as the two Gamow-Teller branches that connect the double- β decay partners with the states in the ...intermediate nuclei. We use a theoretical microscopic approach based on a deformed self-consistent mean field with Skyrme interactions including pairing and spin-isospin residual forces, which are treated in a proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation. We compare our results for Gamow-Teller strength distributions with experimental information obtained from charge-exchange reactions. We also compare our results for the two-neutrino double- β decay nuclear matrix elements with those extracted from the measured half-lives. Both single-state and low-lying-state dominance hypotheses are analyzed theoretically and experimentally making use of recent data from charge-exchange reactions and β decay of the intermediate nuclei.
Nuclear cluster physics implicitly assumes a distinction between groups of degrees-of-freedom, that is the (frozen) intrinsic and (explicitly treated) relative cluster motion. We formulate a ...realistic and practical method to describe the coupled motion of these two sets of degrees-of-freedom. We derive a coupled set of differential equations for the system using the phenomenologically adjusted effective in-medium Skyrme type of nucleon-nucleon interaction. We select a two-nucleon plus core system where the mean-field approximation corresponding to the Skyrme interaction is used for the core. A hyperspherical adiabatic expansion of the Faddeev equations is used for the relative cluster motion. We shall specifically compare both the structure and the decay mechanism found from the traditional three-body calculations with the result using the new boundary condition provided by the full microscopic structure at small distance. The extended Hilbert space guaranties an improved wave function compared to both mean-field and three-body solutions. We shall investigate the structures and decay mechanism of

C (
20
C+n+n). In conclusion, we have developed a method combining nuclear few- and many-body techniques without losing the descriptive power of each approximation at medium-to-large distances and small distances respectively. The coupled set of equations are solved self-consistently, and both structure and dynamic evolution are studied.
The influence of nuclear isospin mixing on parity-violating elastic electron scattering is studied for the even–even,
N
=
Z
nuclei
12C,
24Mg,
28Si, and
32S. Their ground-state wave functions have ...been obtained using a self-consistent axially-symmetric mean-field approximation with density-dependent effective two-body Skyrme interactions. Some differences from previous shell-model calculations appear for the isovector Coulomb form factors which play a role in determining the parity-violating asymmetry. To gain an understanding of how these differences arise, the results have been expanded in a spherical harmonic oscillator basis. Results are obtained not only within the plane-wave Born approximation, but also using the distorted-wave Born approximation for comparison with potential future experimental studies of parity-violating electron scattering. To this end, for each nucleus the focus is placed on kinematic ranges where the signal (isospin-mixing effects on the parity-violating asymmetry) and the experimental figure-of-merit are maximized. Strangeness contributions to the asymmetry are also briefly discussed, since they and the isospin mixing contributions may play comparable roles for the nuclei being studied at the low momentum transfers of interest in the present work.
