In our endeavor to design and synthesize novel anticancer agents, a new series of indoloquinazoline compounds were prepared and tested initially for anticancer activity in vitro against a panel of ...human cancer cell lines. Most of these compounds exhibited cytotoxic activity in in vitro screens. Compounds were selected and further evaluated using a modified Hollow Fiber Assay for their preliminary in vivo activity against 12 cell lines implanted in the subcutaneous and intraperitoneal compartments in mice. The results indicate that these compounds may constitute a new class of anticancer agents.
A novel series of indoloquinazolines were synthesized and tested for anticancer activity in various human cancer cell lines. The most potent compounds were further tested in the hollow fibre assay followed by xenograft studies in nude mice to assess the anticancer property.
Background & objectives: India has been reporting the cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) since January 30, 2020. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) formulated and established ...laboratory surveillance for COVID-19. In this study, an analysis of the surveillance data was done to describe the testing performance and descriptive epidemiology of COVID-19 cases by time, place and person.
Methods: The data were extracted from January 22 to April 30, 2020. The frequencies of testing performance were described over time and by place. We described cases by time (epidemic curve by date of specimen collection; seven-day moving average), place (area map) and person (attack rate by age, sex and contact status), and trends were represented along with public health measures and events.
Results: Between January 22 and April 30, 2020, a total of 1,021,518 individuals were tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Testing increased from about 250 individuals per day in the beginning of March to 50,000 specimens per day by the end of April 2020. Overall, 40,184 (3.9%) tests were reported positive. The proportion of positive cases was highest among symptomatic and asymptomatic contacts, 2-3-fold higher than among those with severe acute respiratory infection, or those with an international travel history or healthcare workers. The attack rate (per million) by age was highest among those aged 50-69 yr (63.3) and was lowest among those under 10 yr (6.1). The attack rate was higher among males (41.6) than females (24.3). The secondary attack rate was 6.0 per cent. Overall, 99.0 per cent of 736 districts reported testing and 71.1 per cent reported COVID-19 cases.
Interpretation & conclusions: The coverage and frequency of ICMR's laboratory surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 improved over time. COVID-19 was reported from most parts of India, and the attack rate was more among men and the elderly and common among close contacts. Analysis of the data indicates that for further insight, additional surveillance tools and strategies at the national and sub-national levels are needed.
This article focuses on the physical realization of SVC, TCSC, combined SVC and TCSC scale down models, which have been realized in the laboratory, developed and tested and presented the experimental ...results. These practical test results have been proven the effectiveness of these devices with closed loop control systems developed with microcontrollers. The voltage stability can be assessed accurately using stability indices. These indices can either reveal the critical bus or line of a power system. The said indices plays vital role in identifying the most critical n-1 and n-2 contingencies. This article further focuses on optimization of these devices in IEEE 9 bus, 14 bus and 30 bus test systems using stability indices and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The simulation results for all these systems have been presented and which proves the tremendous improvement in voltage stability of power systems.

Castor (Ricinus communis L.) is an important non-edible industrial oilseed crop grown in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions across the world. Fusarium wilt caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ricini is one of the most important diseases of castor worldwide. Though there are several management practices available, host resistance is a pragmatic approach to control the disease. During the last three decades, significant progress in the identification of resistant sources and screening techniques has led to the development of several wilt resistant varieties and hybrids. Breakdown of fusarium wilt resistance has been observed in castor necessitating the development of durable wilt resistant cultivars. Studies on the inheritance pattern of wilt resistance, host-pathogen interaction and how the resistance expression affects F.oxysporum f. sp. ricini colonization are very limited and inconclusive. Marker assisted selection following the development of reliable markers for tagging of wilt resistant genes will hasten the breeding program in evolving wilt resistant cultivars. The paper reviews the progress made along with future outlook towards fusarium wilt resistance in castor.
L’objet de la recherche actuelle est d’étudier les coefficients de transfert de chaleur calculés de nanoparticules de SiO2 dispersées dans des mélanges d’éthylène glycol (EG) et d’eau (W) à 60 :40 ...(60EGW) et 40 :60 (40EGW) en volume, et d'évaluer de fluide de base. Les propriétés thermo physiques de nanoparticules à base de SiO2 , dispersées dans un fluide de base 60EGW et 40EGW ont été tirées de la littérature disponible et une analyse de régression a été réalisée pour la formulation d'équations. Les données théoriques ont été utilisées comme entrée dans l'analyse informatique pour l'étude des coefficients de transfert de chaleur. Les résultats indiquent que les coefficients de transfert de chaleur pour les nano fluides à base de SiO2 / 60EGW et de SiO2 / 40EGW ont montré une amélioration de 25% et 55% respectivement par rapport aux fluides de base. On peut donc en conclure que les nano fluides SiO2 / 40EGW présentent un meilleur taux de transfert de chaleur que les nano fluides SiO2 / 60EGW. The purpose of the current research is to investigate the computational heat transfer coefficients of SiO2 nanoparticles dispersed in ethylene glycol (EG) and water (W) mixtures in 60:40 (60EGW) and 40:60 (40EGW) by volume and evaluate the influence of base fluid. The thermophysical properties of SiO2, based nanoparticles dispersed in 60EGW and 40EGW base fluid were taken from available literature and regression analysis was performed for formulating equations. The theoretical data was used as input in computational analysis for the investigation of heat transfer coefficients. The results indicate that the heat transfer coefficients for SiO2/60EGW and SiO2/40EGW based nanofluids have shown an enhancement of 25% and 55% respectively when compared with base fluids. Hence, it can be concluded that SiO2/40EGW nanofluids show a better heat transfer rates than SiO2/60EGW nanofluids.
