Objective: The objective of this study was to explore the effects of maize straw treated with calcium oxide (CaO) and various moisture, on the composition and molecular structure of the fiber, and ...gas production by fermentation in an in vitro rumen environment.Methods: The experiment used 4×3 Factorial treatment. Maize straws were treated with 4 concentrations of CaO (0%, 3%, 5%, and 7% of dry straw weight) and 3 moisture contents (40%, 50%, and 60%). Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy were employed to measure the surface texture, secondary molecular structure of carbohydrate, and calcium (Ca) content of the maize straw, respectively. The correlation of secondary molecular structures and fiber components of maize straw were analyzed by CORR procedure of SAS 9.2. In vitro rumen fermentation was performed for 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 h to measure gas production.Results: Overall, the moisture factor had no obvious effect on the experimental results. Neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber, acid detergent lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose contents decreased (p<0.05) with increasing concentrations of CaO treatment. Surface and secondary molecular structure of maize straw were affected by various CaO and moisture treatments. NDF had positive correlation (p<0.01) with Cell-H (H, height), Cell-A (A, area), CHO-2-H. Hemicellulose had positive correlation (p<0.01) with Lignin-H, Lignin-A, Cell-H, Cell-A. Ca content of maize straw increased as the concentration of CaO was increased (p<0.01). Gas production was highest in the group treated with 7% CaO.Conclusion: CaO can adhere to the surface of the maize straw, and then improve the digestibility of the maize straw in ruminants by modifying the structure of lignocellulose and facilitating the maize straw for microbial degradation.

The results showed that BMP-7 inhibited the phosphorylation of related mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways while upregulating the inhibitor of differentiation (Id2) expression and effectively ameliorated pathological renal injury. Further
in vitro
validation showed that the inhibition of the phosphorylation of MAPKs at a high glucose concentration in renal tubular epithelial cells was followed by the upregulation of Id2 protein expression, suggesting that BMP-7 could improve diabetic nephropathy by upregulating Id2 protein levels through the BMP-7–MAPK signaling pathway. Previous laboratory studies found that oxymatrine improved renal fibrotic lesions. However, the exact mechanism is unclear. The present study showed that oxymatrine treatment in a diabetic rat model upregulated BMP-7 protein expression and inhibited MAPK pathway protein phosphorylation levels. These results suggested that oxymatrine improved the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition process in the early stage of diabetic kidney disease by regulating the BMP-7–MAPK pathway and ameliorated renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis.
Autosis is a distinct form of cell death that requires both autophagy genes and the Na+,K+-ATPase pump. However, the relationship between the autophagy machinery and Na+,K+-ATPase is unknown. We ...explored the hypothesis that Na+,K+-ATPase interacts with the autophagy protein Beclin 1 during stress and autosis-inducing conditions. Starvation increased the Beclin 1/Na+,K+-ATPase interaction in cultured cells, and this was blocked by cardiac glycosides, inhibitors of Na+,K+-ATPase. Increases in Beclin 1/Na+,K+-ATPase interaction were also observed in tissues from starved mice, livers of patients with anorexia nervosa, brains of neonatal rats subjected to cerebral hypoxia-ischemia (HI), and kidneys of mice subjected to renal ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI). Cardiac glycosides blocked the increased Beclin 1/Na+,K+-ATPase interaction during cerebral HI injury and renal IRI. In the mouse renal IRI model, cardiac glycosides reduced numbers of autotic cells in the kidney and improved clinical outcome. Moreover, blockade of endogenous cardiac glycosides increased Beclin 1/Na+,K+-ATPase interaction and autotic cell death in mouse hearts during exercise. Thus, Beclin 1/Na+,K+-ATPase interaction is increased in stress conditions, and cardiac glycosides decrease this interaction and autosis in both pathophysiological and physiological settings. This crosstalk between cellular machinery that generates and consumes energy during stress may represent a fundamental homeostatic mechanism.
Porous titanium samples with a porosity of 1.34~15.54% were prepared by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process at sintering temperatures of 800 °C, 850 °C and 900 °C, and a sintering pressure of 10 ...MPa. The microstructures and fracture morphology of the samples were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. The compressive strength and elastic modulus were likewise measured. The results showed that no new phase occurred after the samples were sintered, and the main phases were α phase of hcp structure. The porosity of the samples decreased significantly with the increase of sintering temperature. At 800 °C, the sample phase was dominated by equiaxed α. There were more irregular coarse pores in the samples. At 850 °C, the microstructure was mainly zigzag α, and the pores were finely and relatively uniform in distribution. At 900 °C, the sample’s structure transformed into a dense sheet-like α. The sample’s densities increased and the pores disappeared. The room temperature compression test showed that the porous titanium sintered by SPS had excellent compressive strength. The yield strength, compressive strength, compressive strain and elastic modulus were 81.85~122.36 MPa, 161.65~498.86 MPa, 36.75~59.97% and 2.79~4.22 GPa, respectively.

The Unruh effect is one of the most fundamental manifestations of the fact that the particle content of a field theory is observer dependent. However, there has been so far no experimental ...verification of this effect, as the associated temperatures lie far below any observable threshold. Recently, physical phenomena, which are of great experimental challenge, have been investigated by quantum simulations in various fields. Here we perform a proof-of-principle simulation of the evolution of ferrnionic modes under the Unruh effect with a nuclear magnetic resonance （NMR） quantum simulator. By the quantum simulator, we experimentally demonstrate the behavior of Unruh temperature with acceleration, and we fiarther investigate the quantum correlations quantified by quantum discord between two fermionic modes as seen by two relatively accelerated observers. It is shown that the quantum correlations can be created by the Unrtfia effect from the classically correlated states. Our work may provide a promising way to explore the quantum physics of accelerated systems.
This study focuses on the fatigue and static response of noncrimp fabric laminates modified with electrospun nanofiber veils; thus, the cross-ply was engaged in performing the test program. The ...results of static flexural tests and short-beam shear tests initially exhibited significant improvement in the flexural and interlaminar shear strength of the nanofiber modified (NM) samples due to different mechanisms. Further, the fatigue tests were conducted under the load-control fatigue condition, and the NM configuration exhibited high deflection and low stiffness decrease rate during the progressive damage. Notably, the fatigue strength of the NM configuration was 1.7 times higher than the virgin configuration, and the run-out point analysis revealed that the nanofiber veil has excellent potential to extend the material fatigue strength range and optimize the fatigue energy absorption capability of composite material. Finally, although the residual strength of the pre-cycling specimens reduced with an increase in load level, the stiffness reduction could not accurately predict the residual strength of the sample.
